  1. And after a month or so of no FM videos, every video from the series gets comments like, "Thumbs up if you want Freeman's Mind to get rebooted! The creator shouldn't have ended the series here!"
  2. Half Life 2 - SMG is TOO LOUD. - Too many explosive barrels to be even close to realistic. - Hitting an explosive barrel with a crowbar will make it explode. WHAA?! Is it full of nitroglycerin?! - That chopper that holds like a million bombs, makes no sense at all. - Standing in toxic waste up to your knees will hurt you. I thought he was wearing a super advanced hazmat suit! - Infinite pherapods. Sorry, but it makes no sense. - Very linear in design, though I don't mind, sense this is what Valve's great at.
  3. Some of these I definitely disagree with. The gameplay isn't just "basic beat-um-up". There are parts like that of course, but there are also the stealth sections where you have to take out a room full of armed guards one at a time. There are also the occasional variations of gameplay, like the scarecrow hallucinations, and tracking a person using detective mode. The basic combat makes up only a fraction of the gameplay.
  4. Very cool looking, so "beautiful" is the right response I guess. The lens flare is a nice touch for such an old game.
  5. My target was Morgan Freeman. Got there in 7 steps from a random article, "No Sex for Ben" No Sex for Ben -- The Music of Grand Theft Auto IV -- Rock Music -- United States -- Cinema of the United States -- The Shawshank Redemption -- Morgan Freeman
  6. Some may dislike the Sims gameplay, but there are certainly people that enjoy it, and it's not a badly made series. I remember having fun with the Sims 1 on ps2, though that was back when it was really a novelty. Now, the concept is pretty much drained dry.
  7. Freeman is really putting it into perspective how ridiculous Half Life is. NINJAS!! fuckin' ninjas man...
  8. Most models state that time didn't exist before the big bang. This is because general relativity was a result of the expansion. People often want to apply a cause to the big bang, but even if this seems reasonable, you need to understand that in a state of being without general relativity, everyday concepts like "cause and effect" don't apply. It's confusing, I agree. Why would a Big Bang happen though. Why didn't the ball just stay a ball of energy and matter. This is the confusing part. That action or force that made the Big Bang expand would be god to me. I think god in the end is really the same thing as purpose and reason. What do you think? Is the non-believer position that it just happened and there is no explanation for it? I'm not mocking, I'm seriously considering and comparing. Wouldn't the action still be there. Wouldn't the action be god anyway? So how is atheism possible? I want to hear some answers. It seems to me there is a god in any case to everyone's philosophy even if you are atheist. :/ There are too many holes in the idea that an intelligent being created the universe. The very idea is rooted in the question "What created the universe?", and the assumption that there was an actual creation of energy. People need to understand their own dispositions if they want to logically explain the universe. Humans have an innate need to fill gaps in their reasoning. Look at the following: La_p As a human with experience with English, you'll probably fill in the gap with an M, since most of the time, the word would be lamp. The same goes for the imagining of a deity. You see a gap in the universe's beginning, because you don't understand or know what happened. Since your whole life you've lived in a world of cause and effect, creation and destruction, you fill the gap with a creator, a god. It's the subconscious part of the mind doing the work for you, just like when you inserted the M into la_p. But you have to understand that the assumption is irrational. The everyday experience that your subconsciousness is building on is irrelevant when looking at how physics and logic worked at the beginning of the universe.

  10. Why would you want to cheat to get acheivements? Aren't they supposed to be a badge of honor for actually, you know, achieving something?
  11. The worst I know of would have to be Big Rigs. It's like an experiment to make the worst game possible, and have it still be published in retail stores. The worst I've ever played myself would probably be Infamous on ps3. I remember going into it with a good attitude, because it was so critically well received, but it was just sooo bad. The gameplay was extremely repetitive, frustrating, and the controls were very cumbersome. The story was laughable, and the voice acting was just so hammy. The moral side system was very badly implemented, because choosing the good side always just ended up making the game harder, how's that for gratification? The character's super powers just get on your nerves after a while. Like the fact that you can't shoot through a chain link fence, but your enemies can. You just feel like you'd be more powerful if you had a machine gun. Overall, the most overrated game of all time in my opinion, and the worst I've played myself. Though I'm choosy about what games I play, so that's not saying that much.
  12. Just, stop. Did you even notice what this thread is actually about? Did you read what specifically I was replying to? Yes, someone gave an offhand opinion about the merits of a console controller in a 3rd person game. You took the opportunity to derail the point of the thread and belittle a perfectly viable option for playing games. Just go away. You obviously have never played LA Noire.

  14. Maybe I wasn't clear. My point wasn't surrounding belief in deities, it's surrounding all-encompassing philosophy, which certainly is not just deities to many people. Atheism very much is a belief system. It's just not a belief system which revolves around deities. The word "belief" is in no way directly associated with gods or deities. And it does serve the same purpose, in that it sates the hunger to feel content with one's understanding of the world. That was my point. An atheist feels content in their beliefs, just as a religious person does. No one wants to be ignorant of the workings of the world, and it's this fear that drives people to stick to their beliefs.
  15. Atheism serves the purpose of any other belief system, to comfort or make content an individual. The search for truth is really just a desire to feel content in one's knowledge of the universe. Once a person finds an answer they like, they'll generally sit on it happily until they die. Atheism is no different. A person evaluates (exhaustively or not) and depending on what kind of person they are, they settle on a belief. This belief makes them feel they understand the world, and this comforts them. A problem with this is that an individual can grow attached to their beliefs, as they do not want to think that their contentment was false. This is why, no matter what the belief system, many individuals will stay with their beliefs stubbornly despite reasons which would have swayed them at the original stage of evaluation.
  16. I finished the game the other day. Overall, I'd give it an 8 or a 9. I have some issues with the way the gameplay is kind of black and white when in an interview, but the part of the game that shined was in the intricate and involved storytelling, as well as the way each character felt real (not just visually). My favorite part was definitely the story arch of homicide. My opinion of the game kind of decreases after the start of Vice. I'm not going to give anything away, but there are decisions the main character made which I just didn't like, and it kind of took me out of the mindset of being fully behind Cole as a hero.
  17. He already uploads the video files to the site once the video is up on youtube. My suggestion is that he gives us the file the same time he uploads, before Machinima deigns to post the video. Machinima couldn't possibly be angry, as he gave them the video. It was their choice to not post it quickly. That way the 90 percent of people following on youtube get the video there, and the fans that follow the site can get the episode here, regardless of the speed at which Machinima's paralyzed monkeys post the video.
  18. The moment in Nightmare at 20,000 Feet when the monsters face is suddenly up against the window. Love that.
  19. On the level Locomotion in Uncharted 2 Among Theives. I'm trying to beat the game on "Crushing" difficulty.
  20. Why can't Ross give us the WMV download before the youtube video goes up? Or does that go against an agreement with Machinima or something?
  21. Nice of you to mention another area where we see lots of cheating... Seems identical to the hacking thing to me. Sports equivalent | Hacker equivalent Drugs (testosterone/steroids/etc.) = Hacks Regular drug testing = Anti-cheat programs (Punkbuster, VAC, HackShield, etc.) Michael Phelps = Hacker caught after beating the shit out of incredible numbers of Asians. The guy that sells the undetected drugs to the remaining athletes = S0beit Not contesting the point of your post (though it is somewhat off topic). But what was Michael Phelps caught for? If you're talking about steroids, I looked up some info: From wikipedia (note that all of the info has multiple citations) Though this post is even more off topic, I thought I'd set the record straight, as Phelps is really one of those athletes to be admired.
  22. I agree definitely. HL1 and HL2 are these sweeping stories that really take enough time that you have enough time to really get immersed. I liked the content of episode 2, but it's length kind of decreases my opinion of it.
  23. Single player is like an interactive movie. You move through an engrossing story and get immersed in it. Multiplayer (in general) is more like a competitive sport. There's little to no story, and the goals are always simple. Kill these people, kill everyone, get this from there to there, ect. It's really just about opinion. It's like, I enjoy watching a movie more than watching a game of football, so I'm more prone to enjoy single player.
  24. 1 connects to 2. 2 connects to 3. 3 connects to 1. Obviously, there would be some visual issues, cause they don't operate on discrete space like a two way system. When you walk through 1 and look behind you, you're going to see whats on the other side of three through the second portal.
