We already saw in ACII that Washington was a Templar. Here's guessing in this game there will be a big twist for the player character (Connor, I think they said his name was) where he finds out the Revolution is just a guise for a war between Templar sects, vying over the Apple. I think it would be an awesome final mission for Connor to kill Washington and take the Apple from him. It's alternate history things like that which make me love the Assassin's Creed stories.

The PSP Go tanked because it tried to alter an existing platform. It relied entirely on digital downloads, even though more than half of the PSP's library only existed on UMD. The same isn't true for Steam. Steam has an immense and comprehensive library which has been growing for 7 or 8 years now, and is supported by pretty much every PC developer, with a few large exceptions (Blizzard, EA).
-
Well, it would be based on digital distribution using... ahem... Steam. I doubt it could revitalize retail games if it doesn't use them.
-
Very nice news if true. I honestly wouldn't mind the PC gaming market being standardized like consoles, without losing the freedom of distribution like Steam and the possibility of things like mods.

Haven't bought them yet, but when I get my paycheck, my gaming purchases for this month will likely be Journey for PS3, Wipeout 2048 for Vita, and Dear Esther for PC. Not really pumped about Dear Esther in terms of gameplay, but as a game artist, I've had colleagues raving about the texture art.

My intro to the Half Life games was The Orange Box for PS3, so you're not alone.

About an hour into Xen on hard mode:
-
1. Riven 2. Half Life 3. Half Life 2 4. Monkey Island 2 5. Portal 2

I won a Playstation Vita in a contest and just yesterday picked up Uncharted and Rayman Origins for it. I'm really impressed by the device. The screen is absolutely gorgeous. Rayman's colorful art really pops off the screen.

Got some coupons laying around that I really don't need. -50% Solar 2 -50% Darwinia -33% THQ (17 bucks off Saint's Row 3) -25% Valve I'll trade for pretty much any TF2 item you think they're worth.

What do YOU think the "top secret" update will be on TF2?
Eedo Baba replied to LeechHax's topic in Valve Games / Valve Stuff
I'm thinking this secret update will be a set of new maps for a new game mode, along with various new weapons from the community. -
Million dollars already. If it continues at this rate, they could really make this game amazing.

Does God exist? (your opinion anyways.)
Eedo Baba replied to thebeelzebub's topic in Serious Topic Discussion
Human psychology. That's the reason why so many people believe in God. It doesn't even take much thought to see that humans invariably look to fill in the gaps with mystical and religious thoughts. For example, early humans didn't know what controlled the movement of the sun, so they assumed some higher power responsible, usually a god. Today, science explains so very much of the world, that the only question left for God to answer is the actual birth of the universe. The kicker is that there are actually scientific theories for that as well, but they're too hard for most people to understand, so they opt to believe in God instead. -
Well, Myst gave away very little of the background story, and that's one of the things I loved about it. Riven expanded on the background of many of the characters and in total had way more story. Story was embedded in every scene in Riven. And of course, on top of the two games, there were two novels which exposed even more of the background behind Myst and Riven.

Why? It's not like you have to take part... Voted yes. I'd appreciate a place to discuss music instead of just the "What are you listening to" threads.

Peak players: 13,216 That was just sad... Considering 40,000 people joined the group for the event, It's just pathetic that only 13k managed to get on at once.

You cheaters... oookay, I'll admit, I've never legitimately beaten Half Life 1. The ending parts of Xen always break me down, and cheats are too easy to use. Anyway, I'll be taking part tomorrow. I have an award ceremony at that time, but I'll leave Half Life 2 running while I'm out.

I don't think they're in danger of doing too much in terms of innovation, and even when innovation ruins a game, I'll applaud a developer for taking risks. I criticize Activision's motives because they seem be intent on changing as little as possible without resulting in actual consumer outrage.
-
I guess I'm spoiled by game series that attempt to innovate between each installment. Doing the same exact same thing again, but doing it a little better, just doesn't cut it for me.

I don't think MW3 was half-assed at all. I've definitely seen worse FPS's. But yeah, seems interesting. And people, please cut down on the bashing of MW3. Keep in mind some people actually like it. Like me. You said yourself MW3 is your first call of duty game. That says to me you don't have first hand experience how shockingly similar it is to the first 2 modern warfare games. Not saying you can't have fun playing it, it's just a very lazily made game.
-
Just saw this new trailer for the new Ghost Recon game. It reminds me of Modern Warfare if it was a third person shooter, and not half-assed. 58HpsgbPuG0

Pretty much, but the real hate for "Arrow to the Knee" came when people started using it who had never played Skyrim. It started out as a funny inside joke that Skyrim players had with each other. It soon turned into a disgusting copycat game when outsiders joined in, much like with "The cake is a lie". I remember seeing exchanges like this maybe a month after Skyrim released:
-
Yes, the Myst series is a cornerstone of gaming for me as well. If you can stomach it's slow pace in this age of high octane shooters, then you're in for a great time.

Strange that this is a hoax considering the technology they're demonstrating actually exists. Take a look at the related videos on youtube to see some of the real technology behind it.

I think the cost of designing, upkeeping and especially launching all the equipment, and later fuel/coolant/moderator, necessary to run anything like that would outweigh any possible benefits by a landslide. You'd also be trusting essentially an enourmous radioactive satellite to run itself, with direct human intervention being hours away. Space debris and/or a coolant leak would be bad news for a few million people. I think a computer run station would be miles better than a human run one. As long as safety procedures and on board repair equipment were up to the task, it would work fine. And on the subject of making this profitable, consider the amount of money made by an entire nuclear power plant over the course of decades, and compare that to the relative pittance of construction and launch costs.
