My favorite place would have to be the submerged golden elevator in Riven. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgDspQVzs5Y -
How many timid you shit yourself during Dead Space?
Eedo Baba replied to thekidwhodraws's topic in Gaming in general
My favorite part in either game is the climax of the solar array chapter in Dead Space 2, where you skydive down past debris to get back to the sprawl. Goddamn that was amazing. I already love the solar array chapter though. The part where you're navigating the home of the array's one worker is just great. I loved reading the messages about how he kept trying to shut off the annoying computer, and he just wanted to keep his collection of birds happy. The part where you actually do shut off the computer has a nice subtle 2001 reference as well. -
I need some help with this game. Whenever I start it up, I get way too scared and shut it down maybe 10 minutes later, spending most of my time in the inventory screen, to scared to unpause the game. I've played a total of 1.5 hours over many, many sessions. So how can I make this game playable? I can't play it currently, it's just too much. Is there some trick to making this game tolerable? I hate to think I wasted 20 bucks on what really appears to be a well made game. I keep trying to play, I just can't take the mental strain. I keep trying to remind myself that it's not real and nothing in the game can hurt me, which sounds ridiculous, but it DOESN'T WORK. I still get way too scared and turn it off. I haven't even encountered any sort of enemy in the game. I'm just overwhelmed with fear. Please, any sort of strategy to make this game playable would be appreciated.

Evolution vs. Creation being taught in schools
Eedo Baba replied to BTGBullseye's topic in Serious Topic Discussion
Ok, 30 pages in, who's won? Creation or evolution? -
@BTGbullseye Right there with ya man. I once got struck by lightning right after winning the lottery. The electrical burn destroyed the ticket and I never saw a buck out of it. I have no proof of this happening because I didn't think it was that strange when it happened.

Most of these are just the end of humans, not the end of earth. If I'd guess what the actual end of the planet will be, it's sun expansion. The end of humans will likely come in the aftermath of nuclear war, when the remaining humans die out in the ensuing nuclear winter. Nuclear apocalypse already almost happened a few times in the last century.

WOW First of all, the positive, good job succeeding at that. Secondly, how in the hell did you miss the big glowing stores? -

Was in a waiting room earlier today playing my PSP for the first time in a long while. I was playing God of War: Ghost of Sparta, and was reminded of just how decent a handheld it is. It's only weakness is the game library, though there are standouts, like the God of War games, Daxter, MGS Peace Walker, and it can play all the PS1 games on the store.

In Dead Space 1, I always kept the flamethrower on hand for those swarms of crawling bugs that can drain your health and paralyze you. In Dead Space 2, I use the electrified javelin to take out those swarms. I'd say in Dead Space 1, favorite weapon is the plasma cutter, in Dead Space 2 it's the Javelin gun. Dead space 1's weapons weren't as interesting, in my opinion. -
Old games to play with a shitty video card (GeForce 7200GS)

Here are some good old (or non-demanding) games from my Steam library. Scratches Machinarium The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition Monkey Island 2 Half Life 1 Indigo Prophecy -
Exposition = All events leading up to the resonance cascade. Conflict = The resonance cascade. Rising action = Military involvement, increasing responsibility on Freeman Climax = Defeat of Nihilanth Falling Action = Gman's offer I'd say that covers what anyone would call a plot. On the debate between HL1 and HL2, I can never really choose. They both have strengths and weaknesses. For example, the realism in HL1's logic is sometimes lacking, (Room filling up with water anyone?) and the climax with Nihilanth wasn't exactly amazing. HL2 has faults as well. The weapons were never as outragous as HL1, though things like the gravity gun added some depth to combat.

I don't remember playing a 2D game on Ps1, though I never had a huge library. In the way of classic 3D PS1 games, there are a lot. Gran Turismo 1 and 2, Metal Gear Solid, the Crash Bandicoot games, Ridge Racer, Medal of Honor. I could go on.

I didn't realize they also developed the first one for 8 bit. It looks very flat and static compared to the genesis version.

The Playstation was released two years before the N64. I'd say that's the Magnavox Odyssey. The original sega console was the Master System, which didn't have any Sonic games. Isn't that the one that only used red and black, gave people headaches after less than an hour, had only 22 games, and was discontinued less than a year after release?

My favorite console I've owned would probably be my ps3. There have just been a lot of great games for it. It's been overall the best gaming experience I've had with a console.

And you just spelled "wrong wrong" "wrong wrong", which is right. About copyright infringement, me and my 40 GBs of pirated music don't really care very much.

Or, you know, over 4 billion years. Technically, 4 billion years is many millenia.

The technology exists within feasibility to terraform Venus. We just need to commit the resources to it knowing we won't see the benefits for 1000+ years.

Crash Bandicoot is definitely not obscure. It was the PS1's flagship series. I actually read a great article about the making of the first game. It's really awesome. In one part, these two coding geniuses (all of Naughty Dog at the time) figured out a way for the ps1 to handle way way more than it was designed for. Sony later on hired an internal team of experts to try and replicate their work, but they couldn't figure it out. Here's the article http://all-things-andy-gavin.com/2011/02/02/making-crash-bandicoot-part-1/

I really hope the private sector can pick up where NASA is leaving off. I hate the idea of our civilization just giving up on space exploration. About the pluto talk going on above, I'd say the decision to demote Pluto was kind of dumb. We should have promoted objects like Eris, since there's no reasonable, natural dividing line, currently, between planets and "dwarf planets".

Wow, you made it three hours? Steam reports that I've played a total of 1.3 hours, over a total of probably 5 sessions. ... Bring a Sudoku puzzle to do or you may actually go brain dead.

Xbox has the ability to run emulators, so I could play every console game upto and including PS2 games. You really have to be kidding. Even running a PS2 emulator on great gaming PCs will work on only roughly half of the PS2 library, and even those will have video and audio glitches abound. There's also the fact that Xbox couldn't handle emulation of PS2 games at any playable framerate. That's not a comparison of the hardware of the two systems, it's a fact about the downfall of emulators. Anyway, you're taking console hacks into account when evaluating how good a console is? The PS2 was a great console by the way. I don't really get what you have against it, or if you're just trolling, as you very often do.
