I was playing Resistance 3 with the Ps Move. It's... really really really fun. The aiming is smoother and faster than analog sticks, by far. And in personal preference, I like it more than a mouse. The feeling of strafing sideways and picking off enemies at ten different angles is just awesome, because your hands get used to the feel of the motion control. You can eventually pick off a long range headshot with ease, then just twitch over to another one. And there's no auto aiming, or snap-on system to dumb things down. The game itself is awesome so far. I never played much of the first two, but I'm having a blast with this one. The amount of inspiration taken from Half Life 2 is definitely noticeable. The infinite supply of weapons and ammo, the persistent health gauge, the apocalyptic scenery. (Sailing down the flooded roads in the boat reminded me a bit of Water Hazard)

Beat Ratchet and Clank 3 for the first time in 6 years. The final boss (Nefarious) was just as hectic and insane as I remember. Sometimes I hear people say they think the R&C games are easy. I think that's because they're looking for challenge in the aiming. Whereas, in Ratchet and Clank games, the challenge doesn't come from aiming, for the most part that's done for you. Challenge comes from expertly dodging your enemy's fire. Dodging Nefarious' attacks at the end of the game is like nothing else I can think of in terms of the amount of focus it takes.

No, you can't buy the house until you've done the quest. You talk to the Steward and he basically says because the murder happened there, you can't buy the house.
-
Ok, been trying to get the Windhelm house for the past 10 hours of gameplay. I'm now resigned to the fact that because of a bug, I'll never be able to get it. I completed several of the Stormcloak missions. The Jarl said I could buy a house now. I talked to the Steward who said I couldn't because of "unpleasantness" in the house. Online, I found out this is related to a quest called "Blood on the Ice". I apparently have to complete Blood on the Ice to get the house. Only, Blood on the Ice won't trigger. According to anyone I talked to, Blood on the Ice is triggered by walking into the Windhelm graveyard and finding a dead body on a gravestone. The body has never appeared and I've spent more hours scouring Windhelm for an answer than I'd like to admit. According to someone else now, the quest Blood on the Ice NEVER TRIGGERS for people who have completed Dark Brotherhood. I completed Dark Brotherhood... So, that sucks...

Trying to get the house in Windhelm. You have to do so much to get the goddamn house! I did like 4 Stormcloak missions, and now they're saying I have to do 5 quests for the people of Eastmarch. I just want the house!

Yes, Lucien is there and it specifically says that it's Lucien. He'll follow you along and make comments about your current quest.

I think Oblivion is consciously trying to make you go insane. Try Skyrim. It does a better job of driving you towards insanity.

Anyone else getting sick of the ingame map? At first glance, it looks pretty, but a normal flat diagram would be 10x more practical for navigation. I find myself trying desperately to find a way up a mountain, but with no clear view of roads or paths from the map, it's almost impossible.

Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal. Been a long time since I've played it. It didn't take long to remind me how challenging it is. It took me a long long time to beat this game when I was 12. My cocky self assumed it would be easy 6 years later. Nope.

Bugs and glitches are logic programming issues 99% of the time. Logic programming is also quite separate from graphical quality. Making a really big game with any quality graphics will lead to inevitable logic programming fallacies. Game graphics boil down to meshes being controlled by code. How those meshes are textured/shaded rarely affects how a game's logic is programmed.

Nope. The only data that needs synchronization is very basic information about player position, actions, and relevant info delivered to the player. Graphics themselves are for all intents and purposes completely separate from game information. Take TF2 for example. The only data shared to users from the server is basic data regarding position, rotation, and anything directly asked for by the player's running game. Things like lighting and ragdolls are computed completely separately from the server. The second part about limiting the userbase is certainly true. I was mostly arguing against any technical barrier.

There's no truth to that. You could easily make an MMO with graphics on level with any other game. They could make a Crysis MMO if they felt like it. There's nothing about an MMO that's inherently more demanding to graphics tech. Anyway, I bought two games at Gamestop today. Batman Arkham City, and LA Noire. The copy of LA Noire was pre-owned, but I found a preorder bonus code inside, and low and behold, it worked. Free DLC.

Saw some gameplay of that Old Republic game. Graphically, I'd say it's hovering around the level of 2006 console games. Anyway, I got Splinter Cell Conviction for 5 bucks. lol, Dead Space 2 is 5 bucks now. Seriously, buy it!

I used to be the only one, then I switched over to Scout when I finally realized I play a decent Scout.

VVVVVV isn't in it. I think that was in one of the older humble bundles.

Bought the humble bundle and got another one as a gift link. Here's the link for anyone that wants to redeem it. http://www.humblebundle.com/?gift=xwrEBtAYPUTR

That'd be kind of cool, if you used special ink. Like, if your skin is exposed to heat, it changes from blue to red. Or maybe magnetic ink, so metal would be attracted to you. Or you could use electrically sensitive ink and a system of weak electrodes to make your whole body an animated tattoo.

@Kirkreng That second video just about destroyed by ears... Perhaps warn headphone users that they're about to go deaf

50 dollars is the price is was at release (50 is full price for Wii titles), and it's been out for a year and a half. You'd think that like any other game the price would drop over time.
-
I saw Dead Space 2 for 10 bucks. Anyone that doesn't have it, you have my personal recommendation.
-
This goes under the category of "Games I didn't buy recently", but I've got a question here. Why is it Super Mario Galaxy 2 is 50 dollars new???? That game came out a year and a half ago! Why is it still full price???!! Any PS3 or 360 game would be half the full price by now. Is it because there are so few good games for Wii that the few that are decent remain in demand forever?

What do the rest of the world think of Sweden ?
Eedo Baba replied to Doublenature's topic in Free-For-All
Sweden created Jose Gonzalez, so they're cool in my book. -
5 Stages of Waiting for Half Life 3 1. Optimism At some point, after completing Episode 2 for the first time, whether it was at release or discovering it later on, there's a short time where the player is certain that the next installment will be announced soon. "Why wouldn't it be?" you say. "Valve has a decent series running, why take a break? They're certainly already working on it as we speak and are preparing to unveil it..." 2. Anger Usually after a while, the cliffhanger from Episode 2 starts to cause an anxiety, which shifts to anger. The player gets angry that Valve would ignore their best series. At game conventions and shows, they see Half Life 3 go unmentioned, and shout to the heavens in anger, "WHY VALVE WHY??!" 3. Obsession The player becomes obsessed with the past Half Life games and speculation about the next one. They begin to piece together the lore and make theories as to the nature of the game. Soon they're prowling gaming forums, bitterly mocking others ideas about the series and correcting them vehemently. They're convinced that somehow their obsession will make the game come sooner. 4. Neglect Over time, the player becomes disillusioned and stoic towards the series. Perhaps another game comes to fill the void temporarily. They forget about the game and it's characters, though it holds a place in their heart. Occasionally they'll say to themselves that they need to play Half Life 2 again some time, but these plans rarely see fruition. 5. Hope After many years of waiting, the player has lost all semblance of emotion towards Half life. Perhaps upon finally playing the games again, a hopefulness arises organically. A meditative sense of patience replaces the anger and annoyance. The player understands that the next game will come when it comes. It may not be soon, but it will certainly be great when it arrives.

I'm trying to shift over to conjuration as my main means of combat, but it's tough, because my Conjuration skill doesn't match the level 30 enemies. Rolling with Destruction in both hands, I could defeat anything in a few hits, but even on lower difficulty, using a low level skill reaaaally makes things hard. But it is nice that when I summon a bound bow, I get both conjuration and archery experience.
