I used the High Definition pack myself for a long time because it came with Blue Shift. When I got Steam and downloaded Half-Life on it, I noticed it was gone. But it never bothered me since it's only a cosmetic update and has no impact on the game.

Feels like me when I played certain newer games on my old computer. I know what it's like.

Hidden Danger in our daily world

I totally agree. In fact, nuclear power is one of the safest forms of power there is as long as you don't build it in a bloody disaster-prone area. -
Evolution vs. Creation being taught in schools

I've noticed every time I post anything in this topic my rep goes down. I'll stop that now then... -
I held on to my outdated 2003 computer since last year.

You might be one of our youngest members then. Nice to have you here, Ethan.

He doesn't use it. If he did, the pistol and shotgun would look very different.

Evolution vs. Creation being taught in schools
Alyxx Thorne replied to BTGBullseye's topic in Serious Topic Discussion
I can't agree simply because there isn't really a general religious consensus in the way that there's a general scientific consensus. There are just to many religions with conflicting viewpoints to teach, and secularism in public school teaching is important to avoid a clash between a kids personal life and school life. I think it's important to learn different religions to help kids understand how some cultures work and to help them see the similarities and differences between them. -

I agree with that, but then you've got the ethics involved. -

I think the fact that you consider this a problem might say something about you. I consider it a problem because in earlier titles, you could kill children, but it earned you the worst karma ever and EVERYONE in the game ended up hating you. Being a child killer was the worst thing you could be in that game. Instead of limiting the player's actions and making the game realistic, I think they should've done like the earlier games and just punished the player for that. And like Bjossi stated, you would be left with remorse if you killed a kid by accident.

Here's to hoping Bethesda doesn't completely botch the sequel.

I haven't played any games today, but I think the last one was Half-Life.

Evolution vs. Creation being taught in schools
Alyxx Thorne replied to BTGBullseye's topic in Serious Topic Discussion
That's what creationists believe about creationism so convincing them of anything else is an exercise in futility. I think all we can do in the end is agree upon that we still don't really know why we are here. I think that's what separates creationists and evolutionists (forgive the term), is that creationists are more interested in the philosophical "why" question while evolutionists center around "how", since evolution only really explains how we became what we are today, which does make sense but doesn't really offer any philosophical satisfaction, and I think that all creationists want philosophical satisfaction and a purpose. They're not interested in whether we have evolved or not, but more about why we are here. Creationism to me just feels more satisfying because in a way it explains a lot more, even if evolutionists, who often are atheists as well, might see it as total bullshit. It's not like I am trying to ignore the evidence, in fact I think it's very likely we have survived as a species because through evolution we have developed skills that we couldn't live without, but evolution does not explain where or why it started or why it works like it does. It's not philosophically satisfying to me. That's why I think we need both religion and science in school, because science alone is not existentially satisfying to some people, and inherently people are different and have different needs. And I don't think the school system should treat everyone like a standard, but rather give something for everyone so people can develop their own tastes and personalities and find out who they are through learning different things. In the end it's all up to us who we want to be. I think this thread has skewed off as a battle between creationism and evolutionism but I think what it's really about is that people are different and that's what schools should take into consideration, and we should have the right to think for ourselves. If people don't believe in God, then that's fine, as long as it's their choice and not the school's. -
If I'm bored, I might give it a try, just for the oldschool quality of it. It looks very attractive that way.

Honestly? No, I don't think so. So far the CP series have just been a show without much continuity. Each episode is standalone like in old cartoons. And I prefer it to stay that way. Instead of trying to force his ideas to work within a continuity, I think he should just let each episode revolve around an idea and make it more like a sketch show. That's what I like about it in the first place. But yeah, it is likely he'll make a sequel to The Tunnel, at least I hope so.

I don't think you should apologize for it. It's not like anyone forces him to watch it. And it's just your voice, so nothing much you can do about it.

How can he change to BMS if it's not even finished?

Oldschool ASCII graphics ftw! Seriously, it looks like one of those late 80's DOS games you'd download from BBS systems, kind of like Scott Miller's Kroz series. I'll leave it in the Obscure PC Games section for now since I have never heard of it before and I doubt anyone else has. Seems it would be quite popular with gamers who grew up with ASCII DOS games.

Does the idle animation for the MP5 annoy anyone else?
Alyxx Thorne replied to Arby's topic in Freeman's Mind
Never bothered me. I guess I'm so used to it from playing Half-Life since 1998 that it just became something normal for me. I just realized that Ross never used the revolver. The potential for an "Old West" accent episode was standing on the table with its pants down, for God's sake. Well, there's still a chance he'll pick it up later on. After all, he loses all his weapons after Episode 34.
