Ah yes, I see your point. I'll discuss it with the admins and see what they can do about it. If any more people feel this is a major problem, I think we should do something about it.

There is no point, other than to alienate forum regulars who are just trying to help. What's the point of rep? Really, it's a popularity contest. It's not the best ideas and the best contributors get rep, it's just people who say popular things get rep. What's the point of that? As Bullseye has demonstrated, rep means nothing; he's going around trying to get negative rep. It differs from person to person why they give someone else negative rep. I give negative rep if a person swears a lot and unnecessarily, or if his/her posts are of poor quality or can be considered spam. If I were to make any rules regarding reputation points, it would be that negative rep should never be given if a person disagrees with someone.

Yeah, you have a point. I guess I just prefer gameplay and design over story stuff like in HL2 or Fallout 3.

You just embedded a link into a word. What's the problem?

Bite the bullet. What would you do if you could freeze time?

I'm defending it fiercely personally. I think Duke Nukem's personality and self-aware humor is welcome in a market dominated by boring COD ripoffs and Half-Life has no personality at all. And the variety in level design, to me, is just insane. I mean, in most FPS games I play, each level looks more or less the same. Take Fallout 3 or Half-Life 2 for instance, aside from a few differences, each level looks identical. In DNF you have very specific levels, ranging from a casino to an alien hive to the desert. Speaking of which, you don't see many first person shooters nowadays with as Lovecraftien Giger'esque design as the alien hive level in DNF. It was SUCH a breath of fresh air to me!

I do. I hide them in my closet though.

Protect it with tooth and nails. What would you do if you were Arnold Schwarzenegger?

Urge. It has a funny story actually... Urge was originally a Norwegian caffeinated citrus soda by the Coca-Cola Company but eventually got sold in the US as Surge. Both Surge and Urge vanished from these markets some time in the late 90's but while it has never resurfaced in the US, in Norway you can now get Urge everywhere and even in two energy drink variations.

This thread is getting too silly.

Maybe they are intentionally trying to piss off the fans so they will love and protect the game even more.

Retail CD's are usually pretty durable. CD-R's should be handled with greater care.

Regarding the Machinima.com complaints

I meant to do that myself anyway, but kind of forgot. -
Make sure you share some of them here.

Welcome, HLPrincess. Nice to have another female on the board.

I liked the driving sections. Gave a little welcome change in the gameplay for me. I personally never got "tired" of running over pigcops, if you pardon the pun. So yeah, I agree with you, this game is everything I was expecting in DNF, and a bit more. It didn't disappoint.

Well, yes, I see your point. I just think that people are making too much of a fuzz about it. -
It is still a great game, I have had a ton of fun playing it so far. There's one-liners and references, tons of'em, ENORMOUS variety in level design, and the game is pretty darn adult. I mean, this is not something I'd let anyone under the age of 18 play. The writing is so-so but I don't really care about the writing in a game like this to be honest. I'm having too much fun with the enormous interactivity to really care.

Ross, this year is all sequels pretty much. Duke Nukem Forever alone is one of the most anticipated sequels in history. I think that's more the key to why it's a great year. There's tons of anticipation that the game companies will make worthy successors to some of our favourite franchises, so it's more the collection of big names that seem to hype everyone up than the games themselves.

Since I am already playing the shit out of Duke Nukem Forever, I think Deus Ex HR is the game I am looking forward to the most.
-
Fair enough, just cut down on the advertising a bit. Making your first post advertising a game is not a good sign, I'm afraid.
-
Deus Ex Machina? I thought it was called Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Do your homework, please.
-
Just Duke Nukem Forever makes this year special.

They fucked up my preorder for DNF. For some reason I had preordered the PS3 version. Though I notified him I wanted the PC version and there was no fight over it.
