I'm now Dank Gankin' Hank I've been pretty busy job hunting, so I probably won't be online much for the next month or so.

Anyone else on it? I can always use more people to send funny pictures to. As a safety precaution, I'd recommend not posting it publicly, lest some creep send you pictures of their genitalia.

Okay, I'm just now getting back into mapping for the Source Engine, and one thing I'm hoping with Source 2 is that they'll give level designers the ability to have more than 2 channels per displacement. It's so fucking tedious to have to cut a brush every time you want a piece of terrain to have more than 2 textures. Most other modern AAA game development kits from games that feature large outdoor scenes allow the level artist to paint the terrain from a palette of different materials, but if Valve doesn't include a feature similar to this in the next version of Hammer (they've been using, more or less, the same fucking level design program that's been around for 20 YEARS for virtually all of their Source engine releases) I may as well migrate to a more intuitive level editor. Now I've heard that they've changed a lot of stuff in the alleged "soft release" of Source 2 that came in the form of Dota 2 Workshop Tools and made some adjustments to Hammer for that, but since I have no desires to work with DOTA or the technical knowledge to make the tools workable for a mod with different basic mechanics than DOTA, it doesn't really serve any purposes for me.

Finding entry level work in a town that's mostly college students throughout most of the year /and/ 40% of the population is below the poverty line is downright impossible. Athens is a decent town, but so many potential employers have been moving to the next county over due to being taxed out of their eyeballs because of our county government supporting the economically disadvantaged (which I have no qualms with, it would be absolute fucking anarchy if half of the population here weren't receiving government assistance). Ironically, this kind of results in a feedback loop of poverty for Athens-Clarke County residents. I wouldn't mind moving away to find work, but I'd rather be in a place where I already have connections than go through the stress of moving to a new city again.

Skyrim. I'm pretty behind on the times, I know. I'm considering learning the development kit, since I'm pretty much done with Source engine stuff at this point.

In all seriousness, if you can get a hold of some thin pliers (i.e. needlenose), they allow you to cut/bend the links more easily. At least, they helped when I made a mail haubergon many years ago. Then again, I was using a much lighter metal than steel, so your mileage may vary. What did you use to shape the rings? I just bent the metal around a dowel or a metal rod.

I'm conflicted. I don't have any kind of vehicle, but my parents offered to lend me a car (early 90's model jeep, this thing's older than I am). Normally, I would jump all over this offer, but it's a piece of shit that breaks down fairly often (they had to sink a few hundred dollars into repairing it recently because of a blown head gasket and brake problems, the repairs probably costed more than it's worth), not to mention water leaks through the dashboard whenever it rains. Since I live fairly far away from home and there aren't any mechanics nearby where I live, should I just take the jeep now, or continue saving up to get my own vehicle?

I feel that the market currently doesn't have a whole lot of horror games that don't involve zombies or ghosts, which is why I'm really anticipating Routine and Alien: Isolation (because hey, it can't be any worse than A:CM, right? right??). Qbv9rs9bVOE iAcAd1fUiy8
