Edgar Allen Poe and Ernest Hemingway are among my favorite classic authors; Ursula K. Leguin is great too, as I'm currently reading her latest book of her 'Earthsea' series 'The Other Wind'; I'll need to read all her other books once I'm done with that. And Stephen King is crazy good; love The Shining, Duma Key, Dreamcatcher, and Under the Dome (Under the Dome just freaking sucked me in and drove me crazy with all the characters perspectives.) Oh yeah, can't forget the Dark Tower series.

Haven't heard his stuff; I probably will look for his material sooner or later now that you mentioned him. -- Tarja - Until My Last Breath

Yus! Orbital is a great group, and that song's really relaxing, helps me zone out and forget the world Same here. I found out about them when I saw the movie Hackers and thought "hey, this track is really awesome". In general my taste ranges between these genres: * Synthpop/Futurepop (Depeche Mode, Mind.In.A.Box, Syrian) * Trance (Tiësto, Underworld, Orbital, Darude) * Techno (Scooter, Kraftwerk, The Prodigy) * Industrial/EBM (Ministry, Front 242, Front Line Assembly, Funker Vogt) * Progressive Rock (Alan Parsons Project, Pink Floyd, Planet P Project, Genesis) * Alternative Rock (Apoptygma Berzerk, The Cure, Motorpsycho, Nirvana, Foo Fighters) * Chillout (Röyksopp, Enya, Tangerine Dream) * Metal (Rammstein, Pain, Metallica, Dimmu Borgir) * Classical/symphonic (a bit of everything but I love Strauss and Vivaldi) * Various electronic music (Paul Hardcastle for instance) I tend to stay away from mainstream music and hiphop/rap, but I basically listen to anything that has a good melody and good lyrics, or whatever I'm in the mood for. But yeah, I'm very much into synthesizer-based music. Yes, Dimmu Borgir; excellent metal. These are basically the genres I listen to, Black Metal, Folk/Viking Metal, Death Metal, Progressive Metal, Avant-Garde Metal, Industrial Metal, Screamo, Electronica, Underground Hip-Hop, Folk, Celtic, Classic Country, Blues, Ethnic/Downtempo Ambient, Neofolk, Singer-Songwriter, Punk rock, Classic rock, classical, Jazz and plenty of other subgenres. I also tend to avoid mainstream music, but I make a few exceptions with the likes of Muse, Radiohead, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold and so on. But I'll never listen to mainstream hip-hop, that's for sure: Underground Hip-Hop is where it's at. -- Sorcha - Patience

My musical moods are quite scattered. It can be Underground Hip-Hop one moment, then the next I wanna listen to that local folk singer girl's CD. My mom never hesitates to joke about the juxtaposition my WMP shuffler comes up with lol. Brand New - Millstone More than often I have marathons where I listen to one/two bands/genres without pause; right now it seems to be black metal/alternative rock, Bal-Sagoth/Brand New.

I'm Spog, so that's why you call me, you know? That or um...His Spogness...or...Spogger...or, you know, El Spogerino if you're not into the whole brevity thing. 'Big Lebowski' reference aside, 19 year old male from Maine, USA; of course here for Civil Protection and Freeman's Mind, and on the forum to kill time during uneventful nights.

Title says it all, but here's some guidelines: no hate wars over a band you may not like, and to those who may be the "victim" of possible hate wars; don't get butthurt and war back, it just makes things worse. At any rate, Bal-Sagoth - When Rides The Scion Of The Storms Some people call this band cheesy. Fact: it isn't. 'Nuff said.

Well, the day went unusually well. Woke up feeling good, work wasn't bad, and my family weren't as big pains in the asses as they usually are. And I'm listening to Bal-Sagoth in the aftermath of watching Mystery Science Theater 3000, that'll make any day complete
