Oh cool, a new Freeman's Mind already? Nice! Any plans for episode 50? Or is it perhaps some other form of video?
-
I have a good one. A number of years ago, I tried to play HL2 on my super old computer. For the longest time I couldn't play at all, because it was so lame. Then one day my friend lent me a spare graphics card of his so I could actually play my games. This went on for a while until he finally had me return it. However, I still had the graphics drivers for the card on the machine. From then on, I could still play some games, but this is what they looked like: In case you can't tell, that's Ravenholm.

I loved the crazy Zen moment Gordon seemed to have in the repair garage courtyard, where he was physically seeing the grenades go by him. Gordon's the One!

Freeman's Mind Announcer Pack Trailer (for DOTA 2)
Descriptor replied to Ross Scott's topic in Freeman's Mind
Oh no! The Youtubs are broke! All I get is a 404! And after we waited so long to see it. Luckily it still works on the steam workshop page, and goodness is it glorious. EDIT: This link should work too, I guess. -
Woot, 1000 votes! This should get approved in no time! Plus, just imagine how many more you will get when you release that trailer!

I'm not sure if I can trust something from "Accused Farms". 0/10 fake account, would not buy. I mean, who is even doing the accusing? (But yeah, you might want to fix that before this becomes too popular.) Also, good luck, I can't wait to hear these!

I've been having trouble downloading the newer episodes for some reason. Usually, the download gets about halfway through before finishing prematurely and just ending up corrupted... Anybody else having this problem?

Every Christmas I sing A Patrick Swayze Christmas. It's my favorite tradition. I just wish Netflix still had them, since the youtube copies are not always the best...

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO ADVENTURE GAMES?
Descriptor replied to Vince_Montego's topic in Gaming in general
There was a more recent adventure game that came out like a year or two ago on steam called Deponia that was pretty amusing. It's kinda like a more cynical steampunk version of Monkey Island. It even has a sequel out, with another sequel coming eventually? The story is basically just the plot to that Elysium movie that came out recently, but it's a comedy instead. A lot of the humour comes from the main character being a selfish and terrible person, so it might have kinda the same appeal as FM has for some of you out there. Maybe. I recall enjoying pretty well, at least, although it's not really the hardest adventure game out there. -
Oh wow, this one was totally worth the weight. Just one hilarious monologue (and sudo dialogue) after the other. Awesome.

I wouldn't imagine it would take such an appreciably long time to record the new lines such that it would allow time to find part time employment, though... From the sounds of it, it will most likely just be another week or two of work. The tricky part will be getting it on the steam Dota store.
-
So I was reading the announcer info for Dota2 (seen here: http://www.dota2.com/workshop/requirements/announcers ) and it says that there is a general line limit of about 600 lines, which is about where you are. Does this mean you will have to remove a bunch of lines?
-
Dang, this is really making me want to play Dota now. Is there any way we could get a sampling of some of clips you made, like a short teaser video or something?
-
Holy cow, that almost sounded like an actual response too! Oh dear goodness, they're getting smarter! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
-
Ross was hired by Valve to voice Gordon Freeman in HL3? Also, HL3 Confirmed?
-
Yeah, I think it'd be a lot better if he lost the helmet and did a lot more with facial expressions. I did really like the climbing the ladder bit though. Reminds me of those FM animated shorts that one guy did.

Disgruntled Machinima.com Directors
Descriptor replied to HLPrincess's topic in Machinima in general
Regarding all the directors jumping ship, it's a shame they can't all start their own channel. It'd be cool seeing Accursed Farms as a sort of media hub for ex-machinima people. Oh course, there might be a logistics nightmare, and I know Ross is already busy enough as it is. -
No, you were right. He's gunna skip over episode 48 right to 49, including a skip over what would have happened in 48. Something really crazy will have happened, and he will allude to a lot in the episodes afterward, about how insane and crazy it was, but we will never know what happened. It will be hilarious and frustrating.

Most democracies work based on a clear majority. Neither option had that majority, and thus he took the safer (and more efficient) route. Plus, one has to imagine that those who selected the "no" option were more passionate about their answer than the "yes" people, since I severely doubt too many people would be overly irritated if he removed the new sounds, as compared to the irritation of those should the sounds be kept.
-
You spelled ROFL wrong. It's ROFL not ROLF. Maybe he was talking about that one kid from Ed, Edd, n' Eddy?
-
Dude, bro, chocolate chip cookie dough. How is this even debatable?! (Oh also, while the new sounds are neat and well done, they basically take a bat to the shins of immersion. The old sounds are part of the experience, practically encoded into the essence and fabric of the show. At least for the guns, anyway. While I appreciate the efforts of adding them, and I do encourage further sound editing in other, less cannon breaking areas, when it comes to the guns, it just seems like it will save a ton of effort to keep the old ones. But that's just my two cents.)

You. Are. An. IDIOT!!!!!!! Would you go near an alien larva-creature! I don't think so! Wow I'm an idiot for expressing my opinion. You. Are. Rude. Again, this is not me, this is not you, this is Gordon Freeman, a guy running around in a suit killing batallions of aliens and soldiers. I'm just disappointed that he just shot it a few times and walked away. He didn't walk away from the rocket launcher which, according to your logic, he should have. People in real life don't stumble accross a modern rocket launcher and instantly know how to use it with perfection and decide to use it when they just could walk away from the threat. Go on, tell me how badass you are and totally would have picked up a rocket launcher, knew how to load it, and shoot it at a helicopter firing high-velocity machine guns at you ~~ This "what would you do"-argumentation is pure BS. Well, if I was being attacked by a helicopter, and also happened to be a bit of a weapon aficionado, I'd at least very well try. I know what a rocket launcher is capable of, and roughly how it operates. If I saw a crazy lightning gun that just exploded some people, or a weird alien grub, I'd be wary because I have no idea how it works, what it does, or how to operate it. And while a rocket launcher is harder to use than it looks, I'm at least familiar with it, and know what it is capable of.
-
I don't think Gordon would have realized that it's a weapon. It just looked like a weird alien grub bug to him. Even looking at the grunts, it's not at all obvious that they aren't just shooting those bees from their arms, and that the weapon was ever detachable. Heck, given how much time he spends around the alien grunts (very little) and how much of that time is spent just trying to kill them, he probably wouldn't have even thought to make the connection that the hornet gun he saw was the same thing they were using. He just saw a nasty lump of bug alien lying on the ground and decided to avoid it if at all possible.

i know, video game logic, but seriously- i would like to hear Ross's version of that (in form of another rant), as it really starts to bug me, since everything is more realistic lol but as far as your theory goes- i wonder where this "portal pocket" is..... and why Freeman hasnt used it to store his "backup stash" Well, to be fair, I don't think he really has that much to carry. He has a crowbar, a pistol, a revolver, a shotgun, an assault rifle, and a missile launcher. Aside from the rocket launcher, and unless I'm forgetting something, that doesn't really seem like that much, all things considered. The only real question is how is he carrying them? Does the suit have some sort of backpack where he can put them? Are they strapped to him somehow?

Back when people were arguing the benefits of switching the show over to Black Mesa, that scene alone was the biggest reason I would have to support that. But only for that scene. As for the new sound effects, they are neat, but they kinda seem, I dunno, out of place? Considering we have been going with stock for the whole trip, suddenly switching feels weird. I know it would be a massive amount of work, but if you ever get the rights to the old videos to re-upload, could they maybe be added there to add to cohesion? Lastly, military car alarm. Cracked me right up. Fantastic.
