Favorite Portal 2 Quotes or Moments (Spoilers)
Descriptor replied to GoodOddsAgainst's topic in Valve Games / Valve Stuff
The first thing I thought when I heard that line was "Huh, I guess Aperture musta hired some grads from my university!" It's funny because I go to an engineering university and there are very few women there. And by funny, I mean terribly depressing... And I woulda jumped down for the three-portal device. -
Freeman Rejecting G-Man's Offer A Viable Option?
Descriptor replied to Pinkie Pie's topic in Freeman's Mind
Maybe... I mean, given that he's seemed to barely listen to what anybody says so far anyway, I could totally see him just saying "Screw you weirdo, where's the exit?". Plus it could add further humour in him getting ticked off whenever G-man says Freeman's working for him. -
Freeman Rejecting G-Man's Offer A Viable Option?
Descriptor replied to Pinkie Pie's topic in Freeman's Mind
The idea behind saying "illusion" was that the only other choice was death, which I doubt anybody would choose. My two possible theories is either that he misinterprets the deal, rejecting it but going into the portal indignantly thinking it's the exit, or that he does refuse, gets killed, then respawns and realizes he has to. -
Civil Protection to stretch into the HL2 Episodes?
Descriptor replied to Pinkie Pie's topic in Civil Protection
I figure a good cameo would be at the part in HL 2 in the route kanal level where freeman is in the sewer and those CPs send exploding barrels down. Freeman would stop for a second in the first room where they dont throw down the barrels and hear them talking, try to shoot them and miss, and continue on. It'd be nice a subtle... -
Rooooooooock!!!!!!!!! Classic rock, more so. None of this annoying, angsty modern rock. I mean stuff like Styx, Rush, Boston, Queen. The Beatles even. Stuff you can actually listen to. Also, I like comedy. Weird Al, Tom Lehrer, that sorta thing. My tastes have been shifting away, though... On the other hand, I have memorized the Elements song, so I do still enjoy it...

I dunno, with the poll like this, almost none of the options will be used. Honestly, the original range made more sense, given how rare 30+ year people are on these sorts of forums... Just my two bits, though. Also, 19.

Huge blast at Japan nuclear power plant
Descriptor replied to QKey's topic in Serious Topic Discussion
It wasn't a meltdown, it was just a pressure release. Radiation levels have actually gone down around the plant. It's not that nuclear power is entirely dangerous, it's that these are extenuating circumstances. -
XP. I fear change... Linux is pretty cool, too, but it'd just be too much of a pain in the neck to me. I can respect those who can have full control over it and stuff, but I'm an electrical engineer, not a computer scientist! Software confuses and enrages me! And Macs... Don't get me started on Macs... (Actually, I really don't care. But it's fun to pretend that i do, especially around my Apple fanboy cousin )

Man, I feel left out. I don't have a digital camera! Heck, I don't even have a regular camera! Lousy upper lower middle class status... Well, I do have a pic of my from my school ID, but I look kinda like a jerk in it, so...

I've never played Oblivion, so I'm probably biased here... It's just that I like the Fallout world more. I mean swing music? Shooting? Nuclear armaggedon? You can't top that for me! I'm just not as much of a fantasy fan, I guess...

How many times have you rewatched the entire series?
Descriptor replied to GameGodOfAll's topic in Freeman's Mind
Well, I have it on my computer, so I tend to just play it as background noise when I do stuff. It's less distracting than music somehow, but also distracting enough that I can focus on whatever I'm doing. It's not even so much as obsession with the series, it's just convinient, I gues... Does that count as watch throuughs, though? -
I liked that one book. What was it again? It was about time travel... Uh... Oh yeah, Timeline! It was kinda confusing, though...

What is Your Favourite Freeman's Mind Quote/Episode/Moment
Descriptor replied to Trickiert's topic in Freeman's Mind
"Man, all the babes are in the biology department!" Only because it's so sadly true. I mean, seriously, I go to a school that's pretty much ALL engineering, and the only departments that come anywhere near CLOSE to having a 50/50 male to female ratio is the chem/bio engineering department, and the Architectural engineers. You don't see that in the Electrical Engineering department, that's for sure! We only have like a 5% female population! At best! It kinda sucks... -
What is Your Favourite Freeman's Mind Quote/Episode/Moment
Descriptor replied to Trickiert's topic in Freeman's Mind
I was amused because I actually did learn it in my history class, so I had the feeling of accomplishment at getting something. Fun fact: That incident is the reason fire escapes are mandatory! -
Sources of my 2015 prediction for oil problems
Descriptor replied to Ross Scott's topic in Civilization Problems
Lol environmentalists being too overbearing. The same thing happens with wind power. Everyone clamors for it, but if you propose putting in turbines, people complain because it "spoils the view". Well wah wah, better than a coal plant on the horizon! (Although coal will be important for transitioning into renewable sources). Same thing with solar power. Can't build a solar power plant because it will ruin the desert ecosystem or something. Frick. I mean, yeah, I can understand worrying about some of this stuff, but some people are just bloody unreasonable! -
I figure he will throw the can at the cop, possibly accidently, run away as he chases him, and then later assume that he's being shot at and stuff (in the roof part) because he threw the can at him. That's what I see, anyway...

I sometimes make tortilla pizzas in the toaster oven. They're basically just mini pizzas with tortilla shells as the crust. THEY ARE AMAZING!
-
If you have a toaster oven, use that. Microwaves always make pizza kinda soggy...

Google is our friend - Mayan Calendar
Descriptor replied to eat911's topic in Serious Topic Discussion
Yeah, weren't there pictures people who look suspiciously like both Gordon Freeman AND the G-man working at the Large Hadron Collider? Glad I don't live near there... -
Nope, the Catholic church generally upholds the idea that doomsday prophesies are total garbage because it says quite clearly, in many places in the Bible, that we won't know when the end is until it happens, and that anyone saying they do know are wrong.

*sees disturbing discussion points* I, uh, er... So anyway, yeah, Half Life 2. Admittedly, there is a bias there because I played 2 first, though... Then again, whenever I think about it, I usually feel the want to play 2 more than 1, anyway. Just on any real occasion. I think I just like the environments in 2 more...

Half Life 2 Running on Lowest Graphical Settings Possible
Descriptor replied to Nueemann's topic in Valve Games / Valve Stuff
Holy handgrenades, and I thought my computer's settings on it were bad! All I have to deal with is the shading on everything either making things blindingly bright or pitch black... I'm an unfortunate individual cursed with the Intel 945 GM graphics card that doesn't like Source games, so until very recently, I couldn't even play... I used to be able to play Half Life 2 fine, but then they updated it with some new graphic dealies (the same update as with the achievements) last year and then I couldn't play at all for a long time... I'm not even entirely sure how I'm playing now... -
The acknowledgement of other "Mind" series'
Descriptor replied to MakoVlazkov's topic in Freeman's Mind
Yeah, but a lot of the continuity between Half Life 1 and 2 is really vague. I don't think it's really pinned down all that well... -
See, I liked Fallout 3. I don't see how it was "ruined". I guess in that it wasn't like the first two, but then again, I didn't really like the first two anyway. They really haven't aged well, and when playing, I just didn't get into the world of it. Fallout 3 was a lot more immersive to me. But then again, this is all just opinion, so...
