Edit button... Your posts are only several hours apart. OT: Watching video's while enjoying my morning tea. Don't really want to be awake by now but waking up at 1 AM again is not appealing so I'm sticking out the day awake.

Overwatch with a full group. We were going all of one character and losing but still having fun. Their Hanzo was salty as all hell and would have gotten play of the game but little did they know, our 7th friend was on their team and we got him a 6 way kill just to spite the Hanzo.

I discovered a game harder than Dark Souls: Trying to find a grammatically correct comment on the reveal trailer for Infinite Warfare. Comment grammar is on average flawed but that... that place is... wow. I still think my favorite was "why is game on space"

So I was watching this argument unfold about open world games and one of the things they were arguing about was the graphics in the new Zelda game coming out. Now, I don't care either way, but this particular crowd is about as lovable as the black plague so the argument was spectacular to watch. However, one comment stood out that I feel the need to address. "It's an open world game. Of course it's graphics are gonna suck." ... what? Seriously though, what kind of excuse is that? Lemme give a few examples why that statement is stupid. Witcher 3 Dying Light Subnautica Crysis (First one. Open world elements. Every level was essentially a linear objective on an open, giant map with point B somewhere in the mix.) Far Cry 3 and later MGSV: PP GTA V Being an open world game is no excuse to cut corners. Bethesda does that all the time with TES and Fallout and while I still enjoy those games those cut corners are like a beacon in the night to me. Why is this even an argument point anyways? They're bitching about the look of an incomplete game where the only thing that looks unfinished is the fucking graphics. At least wait until it's released or even just close to release to scrutinize the visuals, christ. Not like it's impossible to swap out a mesh or replace a texture...

I get similar moments like that in unity as well. I'll get a null reference error and spend half an hour checking the code. Everything will check out, it'll even function properly but the error is still there. Then a couple hours later I'll find I accidentally duplicated it and never set the parameters for the duplicate and that was where the error was coming from. <_< OT: Watching youtube videos. Bunch of my subscriptions just released a truck load of videos seemingly out of nowhere.

I'd lend you mine if I knew where the damn thing ended up. <_< Cleaned out and reorganized my whole room not too long ago and it still didn't turn up.

Unfortunately you'll still need to buy it on disk. Even then it's got issues with windows 10 from what i understand where you actually have to download a crack even if you have the legitimate copy.

@Jeb 4kqbKEqzsAI Another good version of that skit.

^ Quite literally. Black & White, a game in which you play as an actual god and cast miracles and get to control a creature who you can teach miracles and you can be good or evil. Beautiful game for it's time and holds up very well imo. Controls funny at the start though. God I wish GoG could get the rights for B&W.

About to go take a nap.

Yup. I see you know the scenario I'm talking about. Speaking of which, McCree nerf finally hit. I can finally play a tank without fear of dying to cowboy wannabe bullshit WOO. Edit: Overwatch with a couple of friends. A couple of friends turned into about 6 friends because the group we got was so cool and fun to play with neither side was quitting after the match and we all just friend-listed each other after. Seriously never been in a match with random people that cool in like any game ever.

My feelings are summed up nicely in this picture: I'm really tired.

Do you want to see this place burn? I think it's already happening at all that fire you're slingin'.

Overwatch. Friend of mine went offensive symmetra and we kept encountering the saltiest, angriest people over that. Ignore the fact that we won and Symmetra got play of the game for a quadrakill on the final push. or that teleporter behind a wall at the final point that allowed us to overrun them. Nope, Symmetra was useless offense. In fact you know what one of them did? they followed our Symmetra the whole game and did nothing. Literally nothing but follow her and stare at her. New meta, insta-mute anyone who complains that hard about offense Symmetra.

yeah same for me. I generally get about 100 kbps more on origin. (a lot for my internet. Literally the difference of several hours.)

The weirdest looking turkey sandwich I've ever made. Most of that is due to using both end pieces of the bread loaf but most of it is hanging out the sides so it just looks odd.

I had a dream that NEVER MUAHAHAHAHAHA

My aim of this venting is in the realm of movie/game critics. I don't use "underrated" any more than I use the word "overrated" because I acknowledge that in both scenarios, regardless of how I feel, it all comes back down to opinion. I'm no authority on what is and isn't deserving of attention much less than the rest of us. Also, I put this in a double edit above but I guess I'll move it down here: http://www.indiewire.com/2014/11/why-overrated-is-a-garbage-word-125426/ This actually has a better worded version of what i'm trying to say in this one paragraph: "But the aim behind declaring something "overrated" isn’t prompting a reconsideration: It’s proving (so to speak) that those who esteem it are wrong — or rather, since there’s no way to prove that point, drowning them in enough contempt that they’re too ashamed to fight back. It’s a garbage word, conveying attitude without argument; it’s a placeholder for actual thought, the rhetorical equivalent of a "Scene Missing" card. It is, for lack of a better word, overrated." This is the general purpose use of the word and that's what I hate about it. Not saying everyone who uses the word uses it for this intent but there's so much better more constructive ways of making a point outside of one often misused word. Now as much as I enjoy civilly discussing something for once, We are shifting too far from the intended purpose of this thread.

There's no real wrong or right in what you like. If you like something, you like it. Same for if you dislike it. How much something is liked/disliked is not a direct measure of how good/bad it is. Plenty of people love The Room and objectively speaking that movie is garbage. They just don't love it for being a well made movie but they aren't wrong for loving it. It captured them in it's poorness and became something special to them. Telling people they're wrong for liking something that by objective industry standards is bad is, well, wrong. Edit: I guess what I hate the most about this word is how often people use the "objective" to devalue the "subjective". Like, the 2 don't HAVE to go hand in hand...

I recently gone back to Final Fantasy Tactics again and I still play FEAR on and off.
-
The alternative really is just "I didn't like it." It sums up how you feel about something without devaluing anyone's opinion. There really are no reasons I can think of outside of selfish ones to justify the use of the word "overrated" and far too often it's used as an excuse for people to put themselves above someone else for liking something they feel deserves to be disliked and that's pretty messed up.
-
Dear world, Please let the word "overrated" die. Like honestly let that word cease to exist. I've never seen a single word kill someones credibility so fast and frankly I'm getting sick of hearing it. It's a scummy word that exists to make those upset that people like something that they don't feel validated as if you even need to validate a dislike. It's not "overrated" you just don't like it. Stop trying to pass off your damn opinion as fact and stop trying to make others feel bad about liking something. Sincerely, Shut the fuck up. I think this has to be THE word I hate the most. Like this word can just ruin my mood for a good hour if I'm not careful. Honestly, what a shitty word to the core.
