  1. ^I always like learning new things, I just don't like when obligation and pressure is attached to it. OT: Watching a playthrough of Inside. I really like the art style of this game.
  2. When it comes down to it, yes, most every mechanic people dislike is from a subjective point of view which is my main concern with this thread. There are still mechanics out there that on an objective sense (as in widely accepted by both industry and consumer) are just bad. Some of these would be backtracking and pay-to-win. Backtracking is a way of artificially extending game time without requiring the game designers to actually add more content to it. It's a time waster born of lazy execution and games STILL do it to this day. Thankfully not as much but it's not entirely gone either. Pay-to-win is pretty self explanatory. It's a shit mechanic because it's not made in favor of the player or the game and often leads to that games death. It creates essentially a "members only club" with the added bonus of the members being allowed to walk over everyone else and claim elitism in the comunity (member-only PUG raid invites for example). Even then it creates a hierarchy in the paying community if done exceptionally poorly where those with the most money to throw away will beat everyone else, even those who've put a lot of money in already.
  3. Well yes it is meaningless semantics because fun is fun whether or not I'm the one who figured out how to do it. Who cares if I came up with it on my own? I do stuff I discover in games anyways, doesn't mean I'm gonna look at suggestions from an outside source and consider it inferior fun because I didn't think of it myself. Besides I don't do achievements out of some point obligation. I do them if it's fun. I have one achievement in Terraria left before I've 100% gotten all of them but I don't because 200 fishing quests is absurd in a game where you can only do one an ingame day and each day is 24 minutes, and I got all the item rewards from them after about 50 anyways. But if I go through the list and see something potentially fun that I'd have never thought to do myself sure I'm gonna give it a try. If it turns out to not be fun, I stop. And even after I got the achievement I still usually do the challenge when I go through the game again if I enjoyed it the first time. I literally haven't played episode one with more than 1 bullet fired ever since finding out about that because I find it THAT fun. There's a whole demographic of people who enjoy having goals set for them to meet or challenges for them to overcome and that's often the target of these systems. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
  4. Coffee and Hashbrowns
  5. Or maybe people just like wasting time doing pointless bullshit. Remember that achievement where you had to carry a garden gnome through all of Half Life 2 Episode 2. That was a remarkable achievement that totally wasn't stupid as hell. It fills me with accomplishment. Look if my posts are bringing you down then you're more than welcome to block/ignore me. I don't care, being whiny, gripey and snarky is just how I roll and I have no intentions of changing. Making fun of what I believe to be stupid is a great deal of fun for me. The problem is, that whether you mean to or not you end up coming off as someone who is getting personally offended that people are enjoying something you don't and wanting THEM to change which only results in ruining everyone's mood. And you can't argue that achievements are pointless time wasting bullshit because when it comes down to it, so are video games in general. Why play video games? Cuz some people find it fun. Why bother hunting achievements? Same reason. To me an achievement is not some trivialized pat on the back to boost a waning self esteem but a fun challenge to do when the main game has been completed. That gnome one you talked about? That was easily the most fun I had in that game, same with the One Free Bullet achievement.
  6. You know at this point, I would not be surprised if it turns out my internet provider is actually conducting an experiment on me trying to see if it's possible to create a psychopath through prolonged financial abuse. The more time goes on and the more I have to tolerate their garbage "service" the darker my thoughts get and at this point, I'm honestly afraid I might do something I'll regret if this shit keeps up. How is any of what they do even legal? Like how the fuck are they even allowed to charge inexcusably high prices for what equates to a person sketching out the web page then mailing it to my door step? Eat shit, Earthlink. No one in this reality will miss you when you're gone.
  7. Whoa another golden oldie returns. Welcome back, kirk!
  8. Since no one can explain themselves without sass, allow me to give this a shot. /sass Carry limit and weight based systems are 2 different things. The amount you can carry in a weight system can range far more wildly than a carry limit since a carry limit ignores weight and instead focuses on item size and/or item slots. For example, a weapon limit can be: 2 side arm slots, a main weapon(ex: automatic rifle), and a heavy weapon(ex: rocket launcher) whereas a weight limit example could be a 50 kg limit, 50 weapons all weighing 1 kg. A CARRY limit can be like what diablo does where each inventory item takes up a predetermined amount of slots. I agree though that EYE: Divine Cybermancy had a very clever way of dealing with inventory, especially the pockets on your gear acting as slots.
  9. Well the good news is the orthopedic found no major damage with my knee but there is some slight cartilage deterioration and the bones are a little too close due to weak muscles so I have to do a bit of physical therapy(which my insurance covers apparently?) but at least it's nothing major.
  10. >Overwatch competitive >Queue's up as 4, get's 2 randoms >Us 4 make up the tanks and healers. >Random never with us. Like ever. Even watched one of them run past me and die alone while I was waiting for literally everyone else to respawn and join me. >Friend crashes. >We lose. >"Fucking AFKer's(?????) You guys queued up as 4 but are so useless. learn to play. god you're the worst fucking team I've ever seen. Learn to group up with the randoms." >Reported, blocked, left. Honestly, if you're gonna be a trash talking asshole at least don't be the literal reason we couldn't kill anyone. These randoms were the damage classes and they were apart of 0 team fights, and always ran in alone. Because of their complete inability to group up with us, the other team constantly took the fight to us which we had absolutely no hope of dealing with without any damage. Why is it ALWAYS the ones who do the worst that have the biggest most arrogant mouth? Take some responsibility for yourself, fucking hell.
  11. If one day I woke up and found out that my internet company had vanished with no signs of what could have happened to them, like literally just disappeared from the face of the planet I would feel nothing. The day this leeching scum company crashes and burns could not come fast enough and I will forever mark my calendar when that day comes and celebrate it every year. If any motivation is big enough to get me to move out it's that I would never have to deal with these shitbags ever again.
  12. I agree with the sentiment as well though I do think Soma is fine without it. Soma's health is pretty consistent in representation as normal, wounded, and of course dead. normal the screen is fine, wounded the character has a limp as well as, actually appropriate, screen decals; and dead is, well, dead. There's no regenerating health so where you stand on the wounded spectrum is pretty clear.
  13. Please do not continue this discussion any further. Not only has it strayed too far off course but no one can seem to keep their tempers in check. OT: Overwatch. Ended on a high note of getting a straight up full enemy team kill all by myself. Unfortunately the highlight reel cuts off before the last 2 kills but here's the gist of it: kfsUGbuvaNg
  14. It's the best DS3 joke yet. OT: Eating breakfast and getting ready for the day.
  15. Enough of this fighting please. I'd prefer not to see you 2 at each other's throats every time either of you happen to post something the other finds irritable or disagreeable. (And I don't care who started it.) OT: WoW. Got a new addition to the friends list after encountering another friendly player who's quests happen to be synced perfectly with mine. Spent a good hour or so powering through quests before I logged to go work on stuff.
  16. Finishing up some Unity work. The bigger a project gets the harder it becomes to troubleshoot problems. :S
  17. Wait, are they working on a new album? Edit: Just found the skeleton tree thing. I'm wholly intrigued.
  18. N0sb1SZxCAs This is one of those songs that I'm rather indifferent about but I like the chorus so much that it more than makes up for it
  19. Did I just accidentally make a short lived meme? Short meme. Mini. Mini Meme. Don't worry I'll see myself out. So I think I've identified my favorite type of Youtube comment. And I don't mean this sarcastically I actually mean I love seeing these types of comments: When someone types out a response where every other word has a mixed letter typo, and then they reply to themselves to correct only one word.
  20. WoW. I don't remember gold being this easy to make since last I played. I've made 4000 gold just quest grinding in 2 days and that's NOT playing all day either.
  21. My foruming experiences in a nutshell: *Types out long detailed post for 30 minutes. *Realizes they aren't in the mood for that type of discussion at the moment. *Fucks off. I think I may have burnt out a bit on forums lol.
  22. 93A30cbUGEc My favorite entry of the Edgelord OST.
  23. The cheapest one of those is $48 on the market place so it's a good price. OT: Overwatch competitive. We lost 2 rounds in a row of a best 3 out of 5 king of the hill and the moment I switched to Dva, and our sniper switched to a damage class, we won 3 in a row. Seriously, Dva's defense matrix on a reaper ult is hilarious. He just sit's there screaming "DIE DIE DIE" and hurting NO ONE. just a measly "plink plink" as his bullets get destroyed.
  24. So many negative topics popping up in Gaming in General lately. Like geez people, seems like the past 5 or so topics have been nothing but what you hate, what you think needs to die, pet peeves, etc. Whatever happened to topics about games that are, idunno, fun? Enjoyable? Well made? C'mon guys. :/
