Honey. My stomach is very acidic right now and this helps immensely.

Diablo 3 season 8. Leveling every season can be tedious but a friend literally powerleveled me to max in 15 minutes and now I'm paragon level 120 with a full class set and ready to start working towards a stronger one. The melee demon hunter sounds fun and the turret build just looks ridiculous. Gotta try them both.

"HORRIFIC FOOTAGE shows schoolgirl getting SCALPED by ferris wheel! Click to watch HERE!" Well it's high time to purge clickbaiters with the fire of a thousand suns. It's bad enough that "news" sites are starting to use this bottom feeding tactic but to do it for a story of someone literally getting their head mutilated in an accident? What the FUCK?! How lost do you have to be to think that's a good idea? I refuse to click that link. I refuse to give them the money, traffic, or satisfaction of reading anything their failing brain managed articulate. To who ever wrote that article, I convey this most heartfelt message: Fuck. You.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asociality Experiencing this pretty fucking hard. Like HARD. I'm starving right now but I refuse to go to the kitchen until the person there leaves.

Can't say I'm particularly one for narcotics, going so far as to even refuse plain drinking to the point of intoxication. I don't particularly enjoy feeling "altered" if you will. Sober and aware is where I'm most comfortable. I can't even stand head rushes.

Witcher 3. Managed to go crash free long enough to complete Hearts of Stone. Starting on Blood and Wine now. Now I may be wrong here, but I get the sneaking suspicion someone dun goofed.
-
I've just had more things break/crash for that DLC in particular for some reason. First time in the auction house I was able to walk through the front door when it was closed to find a copy of the quest npc outside. Talking to them teleported me to the other side of the game where my weapons were still gone and I could only walk and not fast travel. Second time the game just shut down completely after I tried talking to someone. No crash report, just a full, clean shutdown. Third time the game actually stopped working with a proper crash when i tried to reload one section. I finally got through the auction house only to have the autosave function break and stop saving itself as well as lock me out of manual saves making me reload back an hour and do everything over again. I finally got through that but I'm gonna take a bit of a break. -.- I've never had any of this ever happen in the base game and I've got over 130 hours in that.

I actually have a playthrough of this on hold. I mismanaged supplies and I'm stuck in a bad spot. OT: Witcher 3. I want to get more into the DLC but I think it had a bad install because the auction house section of Hearts of Stone keeps breaking.

I didn't. I adore the first one and have had plans put on hold because it'd be playing on tv lol.

I have the signs of a developing stomach ulcer. God I hope not but given the frequency I've been getting sick lately I wouldn't be surprised if one snuck through...

Sorry, been really busy lately. ot: At school after midterms. Test is over and I did pretty well but god knows when I can go home since my laptop decided now would be the perfect time for a major update that's taken an hour to get 30 percent done. How has Microsoft not yet gotten it through their mile thick skull yet that nonrescheduable updates are VERY BAD? I just want to go home and sleep

Huh, no I've never heard of that. I'll look into it. It's actually pretty straightforward. It's basically: stringOne = String.Join("|", new stringArray() {Value1.ToString, Value2.ToString, Value3.ToString, etc.}) Computer.FileSystem.WriteAllText("Save.txt", stringOne, true/false) Where true/false is whether to append to the file contents or replace them And then loading would be stringArray() = Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText("Save.txt").Split("|") Integer.TryParse(stringArray[0], Value1) Boolean.TryParse(stringArray[1], Value2) Double.TryParse(stringArray[2], Value3) And so on. It's just super easy to break since anyone and their dog can edit a txt file. The save ends up looking like this: OT: Working on that text adventure. I don't like how navigation is handled currently so Imma change that.
-
I actually don't use either playerprefs or xml since one has limited control and the other isn't secure(save editing is basically made possible by anyone with a raw text editor or browser. aka literally everyone lol) I instead use binary formatters, and if you want complicated, try messing with that nightmare. I must have done it 3 or 4 times now and I still have to look it up to remember the name and ordering of all the nonsense that goes into making that happen. Though I think the absolute laziest save/load I've ever done was yesterday for my visual basic class. We don't even need to save and load data I just wanted it in my button controlled text adventure. I essentially took every single important variable in the game, converted all the values to string, stitched all the strings together to create 1 super long one, with each variable separated by "|" and saved it to a plain old text document. The loading it I pull the string back out, chop it into pieces using "|" as the cutting guides, stuck them all in an array, converted them all BACK to their original types, and then redistributed them back out to their points of origin before refreshing the form. It's even better because the save file is so volatile that one wrong move and the entire game stops working if you hit the load button. XD I like to call systems like these Glue n' Prayers cuz that's what's holding it all together. OT: eating chips and brainstorming better ways to handle room navigation data in a text game like this because honestly I really don't want to have to deal with a Select statement that's already 800 lines long and not even a 4th finished.

Did you guys know we have bbcode for this?. Edit: Oh. MY GOD. New rule right here ^ DO NOT ABUSE THAT. If I find that tool spammed I'm cracking down hard.

We're out of rice now. OT: Programming. I haven't had a wave of motivation this strong in so long, but that's what happens when you finally learn how to use aspects of programming you didn't understand before and realize that this shit CHANGES EVERYTHING. Anyone who's learning programming: look up how to use delegates. They're confusing at first but once you understand it, that shit is DIVINE. I'd say intermediate level stuff. You gotta at least understand how functions work comfortably.

I am become Executive Dysfunction, destroyer of great ideas.

I like how in programming I can convert a variable into a line of text with .ToString. Including a string. And I can do it forever. Why write something as useless as "strText.ToString" when you can write "strText.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString.ToString"?

Too tired to think straight, too motivated to sleep. Halp.

This is going to be spoiler heavy. I'm warning here because it would be kind of silly to put the whole thread in a spoiler tag So with GoW4 having just come out and me probably not gonna be able to play it for a long time since xbone I decided to go back and play the first 3 and there's a lot this game does that I'm still surprised about. I don't think many people are gonna argue that Gears of War isn't a "Bro" game. It's violence heavy, plenty of gore porn, and features impossibly buffed out men with big armor and big guns with hollywood badass personalities, but the game doesn't make that it's only aspect. In fact, for a bro game this series has had 2 of the most emotionally draining scenes I've seen in a game, and both of them involve the supporting, arguably second main character in the game, Dom. In the second game, you're essentially helping Dom look for his wife, Maria. A good portion of the first half of the game revolves around chasing down leads to where the locusts have taken her. Eventually you do find her, but the outcome is far from happy. In fact, when I got to this scene, it practically destroyed me and I would have to skip it on later playthroughs because it hit me that hard. I was afraid the outcome wasn't going to be happy given the series history up to that point but geez. Then in the third game, they do something I never thought they would do. In the most effectively executed killing of a character ever, they killed Dom. And it was as every bit upsetting to me as a character death should be. I still cite this as an excellent example of how to deal with killing a character, because instead of doing what most games do and kill a character that got very little screen time and try to spin it as a tragedy, they take a character that they spent three games building up, who is now just as important and easily as much a main character as the one you control, and then kill them off and let the attachment the player has formed to that character fuel the effect. The first time I went through that scene I started picking up on the context clues and was repeatedly saying things like "No. No no no you can't kill him. He's too vital." "NO. They aren't gonna do it." "They're just teasing." up until the explosion and I just sat there in stunned silence. There have been very few instances where a game has made me this upset at a characters death. I still feel this game is a great example of how just because your game is full of testosterone, guns and explosions, doesn't mean you don't need to put in a well written world with well written characters. Use those macho anatomical monstrosities to toy with your audiences emotions. Also let's not forget the Carmine incident in GoW3. The Carmine family has been a series staple of being the ones that never survive, one of them literally being killed off every game. For the third game they left it to the fans to decide if Carmine got to live or die and in one of those humanity faith restoring moments, they voted for him to live. Of course, not after teasing his death multiple times to have him survive at the end. And there you go. Honestly idk why I felt the need to make this topic but it's something I wanted to talk about for a while.
