Still a shame that so much efforts are spent in terms of animation. Well I guess that makes you spend time by yourself though, which in return may be facilitating of creativeness-oriented mind processes. EDIT: Even if that didn't cut it for the win, I felt it was better than the content that did, actually, win.

First-era videos reencoding to HEVC instead of to AVC?
twipley replied to twipley's topic in Misc. AF stuff
Yeah, it is the reason why I am still hanging around, and reading the front page once in a while. The early FMs are a real interest to me, and I tend to keep the stuff that interests me on my hard drive. Being under Linux, I do not see the point in keeping WMV copies, either. -
HEVC being released in a few months, would not it be wiser just to wait for it to be released and use it for the reencoding process, instead of going with AVC just now? I am speaking of the first batch of videos that were encoded in WMV, but which Ross still possess as high-quality archive files.

Especially since the first 20 Freeman's Mind episodes are so awesome. They are a tool of the (creativity) genius of mankind -- it all evolved through decades and centuries, and the peak expression of it all is that set of videos that were channelled from that of-current-times spirit through Ross. /2 cents

I think that what is meant by that is that the subtitles section, if I remember correctly, is to be revamped someday, when the community (read: danielsangeo et al.) has created a subtitle database of high-enough quality to warrant a revamp. (If you were not ironic, that is.) Concerning the movies-section revamp, would that be related to higher-quality-encodings availability? I am keeping tuned, because when they are ready then I will download the first 20 FMs -- those ones I really like. Adding the subtitle files to that will be a real threat, let me tell you (non-native English speaker, here).

Sorry to be bursting the bubble, but I was just interested to know if the XVID-to-AVC encodings were somewhat swept under the carpet. That has been announced some time ago, and I was just wondering its whereabouts in your list. Do not take any pressure out of this, though.

I absolutely loved the thrilling-and-mystery atmosphere in The Tunnel. Looking forward to MKV-encoded videos, Ross!

For those who are wondering, that law states something akin to "chip performance doubling every eighteen months or so" -- concerning the mainstream market, of course. It is just a trend that has been going on and observed since the early sixties or something. I admit not having done anything to support AMD in recent times as far as memory goes. Intel had it going. Hoping not too intense consequences to that potential lack of future competition.

I played Another World without any help, but left it at level 2, when I found the escape part to be too hard for my taste. Got past the prison cells once. I think that if I would have sticked to it long enough, I would have understood the gun-charging dynamics better and would have succeeded. Fault on the developers for making it too hard for me to figure out. Shame on me for not trying longer.

I had this demo on a same disc that had demos to Normality and another click-and-point Rock-music dude on a motorcycle game.

I do not know where to start from... http://www.elastomania.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elasto_Mania Playable demo. Most either hate it or love it, I think.

Yes, such a "we" usage being dropped would drive the article towards more maturity, at least in tone. Otherwise, a well-informed paper. Personal pronouns are sometimes more associated with opinions than with objective information. Or perhaps just "feels" more professional using impersonal ones. Just a matter of convention, though. The content is there anyway; whatever the form used. Well done.

I would not care not having one. Considering imagination is "best started anew," if you get what I mean. Do it the way you are seeing it. True but I would like to see what actually happens to Mike and Dave. Yeah, me too. But maybe nothing happens to them, because Ross' imagination simply has stopped there. I don't know. (Laughter).
