I see that kind of stuff in single player games for getting you to spend in-game currency on things that actually hinder you...

Space Rogue. Similar to FTL, but with MUCH more content, no chase fleet, and a lot of bugs. (but at least they're really easy to bypass, just relaunch the game)

ROSS'S GAME DUNGEON: THE CAVE WORLD
BTGBullseye replied to Ross Scott's topic in Ross's Game Dungeon
Very interesting episode Ross! I'll keep an eye out for unusual and unheard of games... (I think I may still have some somewhere from back in my DOS days) -

Thing is, that's how perpetual licences work... As long as you don't make copies to resell, that's how any perpetual licence works. If you are only required to pay once of software, not a subscription, no matter whether they call it a service or not, it's a perpetual licence. Any software you have to pay for on a regular basis to play is a limited licence, and they can terminate the licence at any time legally. If you only pay once for unlimited access: Perpetual licence, and legally they can not stop you from doing anything you want with it for your own use. If you have to pay more than once: Limited licence, and they can terminate your access to it at any time, without legal consequence.
