How Freeman's Mind Changed Half Life (For Me)
BTGBullseye replied to tehFoist's topic in Freeman's Mind
Heck, I never got past the test chamber until I saw Freeman's Mind and used the broken scanner... lol -
I only have Steam on if I'm playing games, and I have no friends. Sorry, but no adding me.

Yah-huh! Oh no! It's Darth Vader's twin from Scotland! EVERYBODY RUN!!!

You have 7 senses? Normally people have 5 you know. Thats because you never watched the anime "saint seiya"... Never heard of it... My extra 2 senses are indescribable in any human language, but I'll try to get as close of a description as possible. Sense 6: I have a sort of Deja Vu that tells me what's going to happen in the next half second or so, usually I only notice it if it's something that is entirely unexpected... (like dodging 3 bullets in rapid succession, which I actually did when I lived in AZ, got me the respect of every gang in the neighborhood) It also kicks in when I'm sleeping sometimes, and I literally dream the future... Every detail, every sound, every feeling, everything. Never seem to be able to get anything from out of my own personal future, or from any perspective other than my own. (I usually dream in 3rd person perspective) Sense 7: I feel when things are right or wrong, but not like a conscience... It's for stuff that I can't possibly know what happened or whether it was done correctly, but can tell whether it was done right or not... I'm not able to express what it's really like.

Ok, since you're going off topic about framerates, I think I'll lend my expertise to the discussion... Framerate is the number of pictures of a moving scene displayed every second. 30 FPS is standard for an NTSC (North American standard) formatted DVD, 25 FPS for PAL. (European Standard) Consoles are clamped to a maximum of 60 FPS, and usually will only do 30 FPS to match the DVD standard. 60 FPS is the standard refresh rate for most monitors, though that is being changed to 75+. Anything above about 45 FPS is really hard to notice in actual gameplay, but if you go above 60 it is physically impossible to notice any difference. (due to the refresh rate of your eye and brain processing abilities) Rendered framerate is what you get when you use fraps, or have a FPS counter on in your game. Rendered framerate is entirely independent of what your monitor does. It is the rate at which your system can create the frames. Many systems can render the frames at well over 60 FPS, and unless you enable Vsync, the frame created as close to the monitor refresh time is the only frame that will be sent to the monitor. All other frames are ignored. Some monitors will get what's called "stuttering" when your rendered framerate excedes the refresh rate. That is caused by the monitor displaying part of one frame, and when another is rendered, it continues it's displaying with that frame. Essentially the top part of the monitor displays the top part of one frame, and the bottom half displays the bottom of the next frame. Vsync simply tells the computer to render a frame only once every 1/60th of a second, instead of as fast as it can with whatever timing it can. The ONLY time that a framerate of over 60 is useful is when you are using 3d vision tech. This requires at least a 120Hz refresh rate monitor, and shutter glasses. (usually a total of over $450 for the monitor and glasses, but I have seen them as low as $340) Refresh rates on a monitor are invisible to any human eye if at 85 or higher, and to normal humans if over 75. Unless you use a CRT monitor, you will not be able to notice any refresh rates above 60Hz because LCD/LED monitors will display the image it receives for up to 1/20th of a second essentially removing the blinking procedure required by CRT monitors. (CRT mechanics is a different subject altogether, and you can Google it for yourselves) I hope this was helpful to someone. If it was, give me -rep please. Now, can we get back on topic?

I bet it made you feel really bad about yourself that you had to explain that you weren't being sarcastic. Not really... When I say that I usually am being sarcastic. It's just good practice to do this for the first few hundred days until people know my posting style, and stop taking offense when there is none intended.

Betruger has an awesome voice, too, and one of the better evil scientist laughs I ever heard. Philip L. Clarke needs more roles. I agree. His presence in the game added a lot to the Doom 3 atmosphere. Agreed.

There aren't enough people downloading it at a high enough rate to have much of a reading on your up speed, and the rest of us with high up speeds/bandwidth are seeding it so fast that you barely get anything seeded before the downloader finishes...

What's your favorite HL 1 moment?
BTGBullseye replied to Jek Jek Roo's topic in Valve Games / Valve Stuff
Only when coming out of an MP5. I doubt that "glock" could do better than maybe 180 problem solves per minute... -
Now we're moving on to the topic of rape is it? Rape should have nothing to do with the abortion topic.
-
I preferred it pre-restored...
-
Good luck. (not being sarcastic, just a genuine hopeful sentiment)

Only one additional sense of it? I'm getting it on all 7 of mine...

Sounds like you're a tall stick... I a short blob myself... JK, I'm short but not a blob, even at 5'7" and 235 lbs... Weight has nothing to do with your overall body mass index, but muscle mass. My muscle isn't all that dense either though... Or maybe it just lacks toning... I'm hoping for the latter.

*raises eyebrow* Not sure what I'm proving here. You're proving that you took the picture in the mirror of a hotel that had a microwave on top of a fridge, and that you were there with another girl... Again, you look very pretty...

No girls on the internet (Split from RL Pic Thread)
BTGBullseye replied to jempm55's topic in Free-For-All
And men are from Mars. Which makes their heads explode if you put on country music. Not all country music, just Slim Whitman's "Indian Love Call"... Seriously though, girls rarely let anyone know they're girls because there are so many out there that would internet-stalk them if they knew. Then there are also those that pretend to be girls just to piss off the "stalkers". -
PC + NES/SNES/N64/Gamecube/Wii/Gameboy emulator + LoZ ROM = PC version of LoZ Like my math?

Hmmm... Sounds like Steam is getting swamped by payments... Though I had no trouble buying stuff a couple days ago...
-
Yup. That's the right site. They haven't improved much it seems.
-
Are you doing it from inside Steam, or in a separate browser?
-
Yet everything says Bethesda in the game, and at the tech support site...
-
There was good quality in it, so it wasn't bad, just very long... lol

Ragequitting because of a simple fix? That's just moronic... Thank you for using the proofed version of the story though, it is much easier on the eyes. -
