Being flooded with nostalgia, and testing out my new glasses... I definitely need to get rid of the left lens, as it's distorting everything. (the right one is just fine, and actually massively improves everything visually)

Interestingly enough, I have turned down quite a few veiled propositions... I can count over 50 just from my Freshman year at a charter school. (and yet I'm still a virgin, in a good way)

Star Trek Online. [EDIT] Actually, I kinda zoned on this... I've been 'playing' a bunch of DOS games to get their DOSbox settings right. It really helps me to have the D-Fend Reloaded UI for it, thanks go to Ross for introducing me to something that makes DOS emulation a LOT simpler.

The Silpheed DOS game soundtrack... My all-time favorite game soundtrack. There are many good soundtracks, but this is the best.

I would have to say that this is my all-time favorite theme from any game... KF05wijJIHk

That long post now makes me long for the pre-WotLK WoW days... Back when a friend and I would run people through Deadmines. We were level 30+, I was a Dwarf Hunter with a Nightsaber Stalker pet, and my friend was a Night Elf Warrior. I would take control of my cat, and run through the level to agro everything, then bring it back and let my friend tank them while I did massive AoE. Our record time in that was actually when we were level 32, and we completed the entire run in under 8 minutes. (2 players, all green/white items, no special stuff) Or the time I swam halfway around the southern part of the Eastern Kingdoms, only to die in the swamp as a dozen level 60's with epic gear tried to save me... Or the many times where we went in with 3-4 people from our purely casual Guild, and decimated the hardcore PvPers in the various battlegrounds. (I was still remembered for that 8 years after I stopped playing, I set the standards for stat stacking in that server) I really hope that Blizzard backs off the Vanilla servers, or opens up one of their own. I would love to see them set up a server for each expansion, and have it have the exact same functionality of the game at that point. (probly have more people playing Burning Crusade and Vanilla than all the rest combined if they did that though)

I keep getting SQL database connection errors... It only lasts a couple minutes, but it's annoying.

In that case, I am done with this list. (because Ross did specifically say in a couple interviews that Steam itself was a serious concern for him) If you remove games from a list of dead games because you can do illegal things to them to make them work, (which 99% of the people that play them probably won't ever learn about) then why even have a list at all?

My suggestion is to look for inexpensive old college books... Can usually get those subject's books for ~$5 in near-new condition.

Purchased 2 pairs of glasses on Saturday... Should arrive in a week or two. I will so be able to see my computer screen much more clearly.

So, you're going to completely exclude any game that has a fix? If you don't go get the crack, (which is technically a violation of their copyright) you can't play the game at all without an internet connection. (or a Uplay account that has already had the game activated and been set to offline mode, but it still requires periodic online connections) No game should be excluded from this list if it requires ANYTHING that doesn't come in the box in order to run completely offline. (this is essentially the same thing Ross said, but he allowed for official patches to include full-offline as not at-risk, but only if it didn't remove anything from the game)

Could we take a moment to mention...
BTGBullseye replied to THEButterFingerBatMan's topic in Valve Games / Valve Stuff
Movies are a great way to recapture the linear gameplay found in most shooters... Just look at Freeman's Mind as an example of how linear shooters work in a non-interactive video format. (I'll give you a hint, it was good enough to get you to register, read, and post on this site) -
Fixed. You need to unfix that, as the SP game of AC2 is still at risk due to its reliance on the Ubisoft launcher to run.
-
AC2 requires the Ubisoft launcher to run, (if the Ubisoft service is down, you can't play) so it makes perfect sense on this list. (the 'series' addition means it also applies to Brotherhood and Revelations) Also, there is MP for AC2. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin%27s_Creed:_Revelations#Multiplayer - Though it isn't for the original game, just the two sequels) With all of that said, the list needs to be updated to allow for the fact that AC2, and all of it's direct sequels on the same engine, (Brotherhood, Revelations) have more than just an 'at risk: multiplayer' issue.

It's only faster with CLI if you're a fast typer, and have all commands memorized... If either of those criteria are not met, (and the second one is difficult to , considering that every single program can have completely different command structures) then a GUI will be faster. CLI is for programmers, GUI is for everyone else.

I did get 4 to have that kind of range visible, but it's a huge performance hit. (though popping a super mutant at that range is very fun because they can't see you)
