  2. Hello folks! Some of you might know me from the Subtitles section and other sections of the Accursed Farms forums, but I am also, strangely enough for me, the official subtitler of the videos (in English anyway)! When I was young, I remember taking the movie "The Lion King" by Disney, and trying to make subtitles for it, for some reason. I didn't get very far--only to the "Hakuna Matata" song (and I couldn't spell "Hakuna Matata" and didn't know how it was supposed to be spelled so I gave up), but the interest was certainly there. Then I got WinAmp and found a "lyrics" plugin allowing for timing of "subtitles" and I was hooked. When I came across Freeman's Mind, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to try again, considering there was a call for them. Then, before I knew it, I had subbed all the videos. And I'm still doing it! Other people have gotten into the act and have started making translations for the subtitles into non-English languages. Thank you for everything! However, it is pretty hit-or-miss. Some languages, like Russian, have well over half of the videos done, but other languages, like Czech and Portuguese, only has one video subbed, so... This is a call to arms! Subtitle translators wanted! Because I have every video subtitled on Accursed Farms, if you want to translate, you can simply take the subs I created and just translate them in place without changing the timing. Here's what it currently looks like: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18gtAlT40Dxhh8Tm6msosjPw3w-gBZAgv1IQXsJQPHTM/edit?usp=sharing Lots of holes! If anyone wants to take a stab at filling in the holes but you don't know how, let me know! I'm willing to help! P.S.: What are those "RT" cells, you ask? Well, those are subtitles that have been done but are not currently correct. They will need to be redone or retimed to fit the current videos. tl;dr I need more non-English subtitles! Make it happen, folks!

  4. So, here's a fan theory. Mary Poppins is set in the Harry Potter universe. See, Mary Poppins is a witch who was placed in the Ravenclaw house leading her to believe she was "practically perfect in every way". She dresses out of the norm for people around her and she placed an Undetectable Extension Charm on her carpet bag so she could carry her worldly possessions with her ( and ). She was killed during the First Wizarding War in 1970 when she attempted to lead a revolt against Tom "Voldemort" Riddle. Uncle Albert was a wizard who was cursed with an unremovable illness that causes him to levitate whenever he laughs (caused by a prank by Arthur Weasley's father, Septimus) during summer break. The illness can also cause Muggles in the surrounding area to levitate when they laugh which leads to no end of consternation for the Ministry of Magic, not to mention Mary Poppins's tendency to use magic around Muggles (see " " for some gross misuse of magic around Muggles). Bert is a squib. He was born into a wizarding family with ties to the Poppins family, which is why Bert and Mary know each other so well, but he has no magic of his own. His father was in Slytherin house and, because Bert had no magic of his own, he was even afraid to speak around his father much less incur his wrath ("Because I was afraid to speak / When I was just a lad / Me father gave me nose a tweak / And told me I was bad / But then one day I learned a word / That saved me achin' nose / The biggest word you ever heard / And this is how it goes.") and got one over on his father from a wizarding curse based around the word "Supercalifragilisticexpialadocious". In the wizarding world, it's the only magic spell that squibs can really do and it only works on witches and wizards, because it's not technically a magic spell being cast by the squib but by a curse placed on all wizards and witches of the time period. Being a squib is also why when they jump into the chalk drawing, Bert is not surprised. Mr. Banks knows about the wizarding world, but, like the Dursleys, wants no part of it himself. His boss, Mr. Dawes, was also cursed at the same time as Uncle Albert, but didn't show any symptoms because he never laughed until shortly before he died. Makes sense or am I just overthinking it?

  6. So, what is danielsangeo doing while waiting for the next video to be uploaded, whatever that is? Well I am, unbelievably, free this weekend and have decided to take this opportunity to address the sorry state of my subtitle compendium and, as such, also address the glaring lack of non-English language subtitles on the official YouTube videos. This is entirely my fault. There have been people uploading subtitles for non-English languages and I have not acknowledged them. I truly apologize to everyone! So, here's what I've done so far to rectify this situation: I have gone through every single AF video on the YouTube channel and marked down what is uploaded, then I went through the forums and downloaded everything I could download for every language, then went through my hard drive and looked at what was on there and not in the compendium and on the YouTube channel. ...and I created a spreadsheet which makes SOME sense, in a mad kind of way. You can view that spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18gtAlT40Dxhh8Tm6msosjPw3w-gBZAgv1IQXsJQPHTM/edit?usp=sharing The "Y" cells are where the YouTube channel has that language. The "H" cells are where I have the subtitles on my hard drive and I just need to verify them. The "F" cells are where I have just downloaded the subtitles from the forum and will need to verify them. When I address these, I will change the F and H cells to "TBU", which will say that they're ready to go and I'll throw them all in a zip and send them off to be uploaded. The blank cells? I don't have subtitles for them. The percentages above each language is how complete the language is. If anyone wants to address any of them, I'd be glad to have them! If you've created subtitles for these videos and the cells are still blank, I don't have them. You'll have to reupload them or find some way of getting them to me. My apologies. In the meantime, I'm going to work on those F and H cells!

  8. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up: I am working on making sense of what's going on with the subtitles for all the videos here on Accursed Farms. Mainly, I want to be sure that any subtitles that has been created for the videos in any language are available on the official YouTube channel. This means going through each of the videos and seeing what's uploaded, then going through the forums to see what has been posted but not uploaded, then marking down what's missing and uploading a spreadsheet so everyone can see what currently needs subtitles if they want to translate it. It's going to be an involved process but I hope it will make things understandable to me and to everyone else. That's my goal for this weekend assuming Ross doesn't surprise me with a video.
