Sample mini-reviews of some obscure games
The Scoutman replied to Ross Scott's topic in Obscure PC Games:
A really obscure PC game i remember is "Nintendo Nightmare",made with Gamemaker it was a really funny game, even through it was bugged as hell and had really poor graphics, here´s is the storyline,Peach was kidnapped,AGAIN,and Mario had to save her,but then aliens attacked Mario and he ran away, then all graphics got screwed because the aliens were computer virus send by Bill Gates to destroy Nintendo;play the game to see the outcome of this madness, even being an excelent player,if you can have patience to ignore the graphics and the bugs, this game can entertain you for hours with some insane chalenges involving machine guns.Just remember playing it for the LOLs,NOT FOR THE LOOKS. P.S: try to ignore the grammar errors on the game. Link: http://www.yoyogames.com/games/83379-nintendo-nightmare P.P.S: the site will ask you to install some crap, dont worry, its safe -
Only? So the idea of a female having a crush on a giant tentacle monster is NOT disturbing? lol And THANK YOU for siding with me on HL1. CLASSIC! The internets stole my sense of morality

1...2...3 CLEAR *bzzzt* CMON WE CAN REVIVE THIS FORUM 1...2...3 CLEAR........

Nah, the biggest portal reference valve colud make in HL3 would be alyx using the portal gun to open some sort of passage that lets you escape from certain DOOM,also, if Barney still alive (i got really pissed because not a single word about him was given after HL2:E1),maybe he and Gordon could go into the chopper with Alyx. (For some reason valve doesnt like threesome action XD)
-
Brazil...IM NOT A TRIBALMEN AND NEITHER A DRUG DEALER XD
-
Half-Life 1,it had that mean old gameplay where the game doesnt want you to survive and deceives you to death, also HL1 was hard as hell if compared to HL2...so HL1 wins for me
-
But I didn't get a nerd crush on the tentacle monster I did... Is that a trifle disturbing though? only if you are a man XD (didnt mean to offend the homosexuals)

Sources of my 2015 prediction for oil problems
The Scoutman replied to Ross Scott's topic in Civilization Problems
Time never has been an issue. If work had been invested in building, say, electric cars ten years ago, we could have had vehicles like the Chevy Volt five years ago. Even better and cheaper electric cars today. Wherever our society goes, you have to consider capitalism. Everything capitalism. The only reason Chevy would have spent the research money in developing the Volt is because they deemed that revenue exceeded cost. They saw demand for the Volt rising. They wouldn't have done that ten years ago because even though the outcome was almost just as predictable (oil prices, running out, etc), it wasn't profitable then. Even now, there isn't that much going on in the way of electric vehicles. Major car manufacturers are still going to be producing gas-guzzling vehicles for years to come because they know people will buy them. Electric vehicle technology will just inch along. We aren't going to see shit happen until gas prices start driving us to the poor house. Electric cars won't be produced until the gas prices force customers to buy them. Unless prices for electric cars drop, which I'm saying they won't because there is no incentive for corporations to produce them, by then it might just be too late. We'll have our Chevy Volts, but at $40,000, most of consumer America will leave their cars at home. No portion of American society will switch to alternative energy until the cost of using oil outweighs the research costs, production costs, and switching costs of alternate energy. Im not talking about what we could have done, what is done its done,im talking about how nowadays we can still fix this crap, everybody is talking about how after the shit hit the fan people will start caring about problems and will start giving up capitalism luxury, but will people do it? And if they do it,will we have enough time to fix the problem without major sacrifices? -
Sometimes branching a game series into other genres actually works, sometimes it doesn't. I really think this one worked, unfortunately (or fortunately)no sigma on this game, instead we have a black robot who looks a lot like sigma but its called Epsilon, there are 7 robots who can join your party, and deligthful Hyper transformations for each robot, the storyline is a sort of aftermath to X adventures.

Megaman X:Command Mission. now this is a obscure and really unholy megaman x game...ITS NOT A PLATFORM GAME,IS A RPG;better check if pigs arent flying outside...the game is quite good actually,it works like the old rpg, every character have to wait his turn to attack, most times you dont see the enemy,it just plays a music and the backgroud changes into the battle background and then the enemy shows up;trust me,if you like Megaman,Pokemon or Final Fantasy you will enjoy playing this game

Since Ross wont create a topic about it i feel like i have the obligation of doing it,there are lots of obscure console games, and there are lots of consoles;since i dont want to make an endless and pointless topic, this topic will only cover good but obscure console games, feel free to post some and if possible make a small review about them,i wont post any now since i will take my time to look the almost 100 games i have for n64,ps1,ps2,xbox360 and wii but i will do it tomorrow since it is getting late

Now it is getting the fame it deserves but think about it,it has been almost a decade since the first game, even with the name Tetsuya Nomura on the credits it took awhile to get respect;compare it with all the franchises who were born on the same time and still go on until today with success, and you also say people YOU know heard about it,just by looking on your forum image i can tell you are into anime and other japanese stuff, who,in some cases, have characters with unreal look and a pure heart, description that matches kingdom hearts characters. By the way i also love animes and stuff, im just saying that most people understimate games who arent all about gore and war .(i like this sort of game too XD) Indeed I am fascinated by anime and manga, but I wouldn't credit that to Kingdom Hearts... actually i credit the fact of you knowing kingdom hearts to the fact of you being fascinated by animes, sorry if my fail english grammar confuses you

I think if they did a Half Life movie it shouldn't be about Freeman, I think it should take the perspective of the rebels or even about the 7 hour war. My point exactly. The movie could be about alyx since she already have a pre-set personality and could end when she beats the metro police that knocked Gordon
-
Half-life story could make a movie but it would go against the Gordon character, who have an interactive personality since in-game he doesnt have a personality at all,Gordon can be anyone,a feature that increases the Role-Playing feeling and the gamer-game relationship, another game that uses this feature was Chrono Trigger. This is a really interesting feature for games, but it doesnt work for movies since every character must have a personality and stick to it, they would have to give Gordon a personality, this would screw the in-game feature and people would stop identifying themselves with the main character

Not a big surprise my list is made of old school games and games made by old school game-makers,nowadays, game graphics are really overrated. 10 Super Mario: Sometimes i find it quite annoying, its good but not THAT good, but one thing is for sure,it is REALLY addicting 9 Harvest Moon BTN: This one is more personal since i used to play it a lot when i was 6-year old,but it isnt bad,its quite good actually, unfortunaly is really limitated. 8 Street Fighter:ROUND ONE...FIGHT!!!! 7 Guitar-Hero:I really need to explain this one? 6 Mortal Kombat: Instant classics are classics 5 Metal Slug: A really hardcore soundtrack, matches the game since you die a lot and you are attacked by a abusing number of enemies that guarantees a non-stop action 4 Megaman X6:There is something special about this one i-i cant explain it,i just freaking love it. 3 Donkey Kong SNes games: Few games soundtracks achieve almost perfect match-up with the game levels,Mission accomplished for those fellas,a great and sometimes life-saving soundtrack that makes you go on. 2 Chrono Trigger: A really good soundtrack that usually matches the game and with a sort of 8-bit quality that fills you with nostalgia. 1 Kingdom Hearts:Yoko Shimmomura masterpiece performed by New Japan Philharmonic and lately by Tokyo Philharmonic...it owns, what else could i say?

If you ever played this game you will hate yourself for dont making this topic earlier, but if you haven't played it yet, play it as soon as possible. One of the many understimated RPG games of nowadays, this game have an excelent soundtrack, addicting gameplay and a really amazing storyline;now you may ask yourself: "why i dont have this game yet?",because it have Disney characters, your partners in-game are goofy and donald, because of that a lot of people refused or where ashamed of playing it,that and the fact there is friendship, for some reason people cant assume they do care about someone without it being what the society expect or what can be biological explained. Sources of my 2015 prediction for oil problems
The Scoutman replied to Ross Scott's topic in Civilization Problems
The problem is that we lack time,i gave up believing people will spend less resources (at least on our society and by free-will),population is growing too fast because it is already too big;i do believe researches on alternative energy sources could solve the oil problem, but those researches are not profitable (even through i dont believe we could achieve a life without oil before the oil peak even if we invest on those researches);im afraid the solution found in oil'well might be the only one that can be achieved on time. I guess malthus was right,he just forgot to mention technology. -
