  6. Although The Walking Dead was my best gaming experience from games released this year, I wouldnt qualify it as game of the year, I just feel like its a step back from what games are supposed to be, lately, a game either have a great story with a mediocre gameplay or a brilliant gameplay with a terrible story, and I know games can and should be great at both, so I guess my vote goes to Far-Cry 3, from what I heard is a very fun game to play, and the story is somewhat interesting and compelling, as opposed to say, the Accursed Farms' GOTY of 2011 .
  7. 1. Its hard to say anything about the combine because barely any information is given about then, the only races we know that are a part of the combine are the vortigaunts as slaves, the alien grunts as assault soldiers and the advisors as commanders. Since the combine seems to make his occupation force out of artificial mutations of the main species of the dominated planet, it seems only logical the advisors, being the only ones left by the combine to control the conquered land, are the "main" race. 2. Its possible, might be possible that the advisors are 1 mind too, its hard to say since we dont know much about them. 3. The Combine DID invade Xen, in fact, their entire "teleportation" technology is based on Xen, in the lore, until Half-Life 2, the way to teleport was, open a portal to Xen, move in Xen until another location/portal, create a portal or use the one there to teleport to a new location in a different world, this is seen on the beggining of the interlooper chapter in HL1 or in the dialogue regarding the new teleportation technology in HL2, although the teleport moved you directly to your destination, it had a big delay, thus why the big interest in the aperture science instantenous teleporting technology, after the events that took place on HL1, its a possibility that the death of the Nihilanth freed most of the vortigaunts, making them enemies of the combine, its possible that we seriously handicapped the combine's teleportation means, because they dont have the nihilanth, the only creature we saw capable of naturally opening portals, and because the vortigaunts are likely to attack Combine's convoys that try to move through Xen to teleport to other planets, in fact, as opposed to the massive teleportation we see from the Combine in HL1, in HL2 they only have one big teleporting machine, that we destroy in HL2.

  10. Well, Gannon can be told to not be in the final battle and stay in the old mormon fort, thus, gaining the Courier a badass armor. Like you said, it would make sense for Boone to be on the ridge since he is a sniper. Depending on what ending you pick for Raul in his personal quest, I think he would rather not be on the frontline (but that would mean no ghoul vaquero ). Maybe the King will ask for Rex to be returned since he believes the courier quests are getting far too dangereous. That would leave Ed-E with the robot spot of the party, but we still have Veronica, Cass and Lily for the humanoid spot, I will have to stretch a little bit here, but depending on the outcome of Veronica's personal quest and the quests concerning the relationship between the BOS and the NCR, its hard to believe that the Brotherhood would approve of Veronica siding with the NCR on the final battle. About Lily, this will probably depend a lot on what relationship the Courier will develop with her, but after her personal quest, the Courier might find that such a big battle could make her even more unstable, or think that the medicine is handicapping her too badly for such a fight. That would leave Cass for the humanoid spot since she is NCR anyway. This is presuming that every Companion will be recruited and alive by the end and that the game wont be modified, but since its THE last battle and this game can be modified, I think I would prefer the approach "We will scatter at the beggining to cover more ground on the battlefield and in the middle of the battle I will switch between companions" or something like that, that way, the ammount of companions wont feel overwhelming and all of them will get their moment of glory in the grand finale.

  13. I dont think you get it, Team Fortress 2 is not only about hats, what about all the precious miscs? Besides, Im completely fed up with real-life hats, like, I needed this top hat for a very formal meeting, so I went to a store to get one, I was willing to give the guy 2 steel bars for the hat, but he wouldnt take it, I offered him this rusty key I found on the street and he wouldnt take it, Hell, I even offered my old buds and he wouldnt take it. I was pretty pissed:
  14. Religion aside, the only meaning I can find to life is to believe you have reached self-realization, however, there are endless paths to reach said destination, what you believe to be your paradise? Your eternal reward? Your magnum opus? It can be many things, leaving heirs in this world, to live a lustful life, going down in history; it doesnt matter, whatever makes you feel achieved, the thing is, the more we think, the more we know, the more our dreams start to look relatively pointless and even futile, what are us when compared to the entire universe? Yet, we give so much importance to human life, and who is to say it is not important? Its all a matter of scale in the end. Ignorance is bliss, the less we know, the less we want to know, the more importance we give to the little things we do, and so, we can take an easy path to what we believe to be self-realization. Bottomline is: Get an objective for yourself, hype the fuck out of it, and go for it. Thats how you give your life a meaning. Personally, Id feel guilty living a "happy" life while knowing many like me suffer in this world, so I want to believe the meaning of my life is to reduce others' suffering, even if that costs me dearly, but in the end, I will believe I lived doing what was right, and I will feel realized and believe my life's meaning was fulfilled.

  17. It is actually a genre (well, more of a subgenre of FPS) its the fps games set in modern day. half life was in the modern day back then I think, so I guess it is. But lets just say that they are all FPS and call it a day. I have an urge to disagree, if I had to describe Half-Life, Id say it was a sci-fi based FPS/Platformer mix with horror elements, besides, Gordon is too cool for the military

  19. Meritocracy. While I would love something in those lines, lets face it, that would be no better than a oligarchy, the gifted and the talented would just trend on the less-fortunate, because being an "industrialist" or a genius doesnt automatically means you will be a "virtuous" and "righteous" man. The harsh truth is, we need to be held back by regulations, to prevent the "strong", be them saints or demons, to have power over the "weak". As long as we believe the life of the "weak" is to be preserved and respected, we cant complain about the "junkie" having the same rights as us. The perfect government in my opinion would be a dictatorship, but not one ruled by men, who can be corrupted, but by a machine, precise and just, like a law of the universe itself, I just wonder who would be the one to code it and give it supreme power . "If there was no god it would be necessary to invent him", not denying god, but until we know for sure, better be safe than sorry .
