Killzone: Mercenary. Compared to console shooters it's pretty standard fare, but considering it's competition is the likes of the awful* Resistance: Burning Skies and the abysmally poop-tastic** Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified, it's amazing. It also looks gorgeous, I've only done the first mission and it's already much more colorful than Killzone 2 or even 3. *I have not played this game or any demos, but that's the general consensus. **I HAVE played this game and the controls are awful, the graphics were passable, and the buggy AI and unskippable cutscenes just emphasise that this was an unfinished pile of shite. ***Also fuck Nihilistic Studios and kudos to Guerrilla Cambridge

Killzone 3. I like the Helghast a lot more than the ISA. They look cooler, their dialogue is better, their voice acting better, and at least they're honest about their motives, even if they are a bit Naziish. Also they are apparently the ones who invented that kick-ass jetpack.

God of War via Remote Play. Functional, but pretty laggy by the time I get to my bedroom. May try again later.

Killzone 3, because Gamestop had a Buy 2 get 1 Free sale. FoV is abysmal, but for a game I got for free, not too shabby so far. (Spec Ops: The Line and the God of War Collection were the other two games, in case you were curious.)

1837 animals were harmed in the making of this film.

MGS2. Before that, the very awesome Killzone: Mercenaries Beta. At least, it would be awesome if not for poor FoV and connection problems. Though I assume low FoV is due to hardware limitations and connection issues are due to my shitty, shitty internet connection. But when it works it's quite fun and very stunning graphically speaking. Can't wait until the 10th when I can finally play singleplayer and not have to bother with internet.

Did a search and was surprised that there was no topic for Spelunky on the forums. It is now out on Xbox360, PC, PS3, and Vita (At the time of this writing the PSN version isn't out, but it should come later today for North America and some time tomorrow for Europe.) It's at http://www.spelunkyworld.com/ and the old 2008 version is still free for Windows, and there's also a fan-made Mac port somewwhere on the internet. Since most everyone on the forums is a PC gamer (Or at the very least, owns a computer) I'd recommend the Steam version for the daily challenges, though I'm getting the PS3/Vita version myself. So anyway this is the place to discuss all things Spelunky: Versions, updates, opinions, anecdotes, praises, complaints, damsels, pugs, snakes, spiders, evil altars, insanely violent shopkeepers, and that goddamned ghost. EDIT: PSN version is released and quite a lot of fun.

Metal Gear Solid 2. Going from MGS to MGS2 the controls make a lot more sense as opposed to when I tried going from MGS4 to MGS2. The plot makes more sense too. Also, SPELUNKY ON PSN THIS TUESDAY! Vita version will have free roaming Co-Op, cross-buy and cross-play. Also it's the first portable version and I feel like Spelunky is a good game for portable.

Playing MGS2 at the part where you play as the blonde chick. Really though, Raiden fights like a badass ninja but he looks and sounds (due to both voice acting and dialogue) like a sissy.

Just beat the first Metal Gear Solid. Fantastic game, but not very subtle with the symbolism. "This {noun} represents this {abstract concept} because of reasons." I am pretty amazed that a PS1 game can look this good though. It's actually about on par with Killlzone: Liberation now that I think of it. On to MGS2!

I'm pretty sure if this was done properly it would make all of the money

I recently watched Source Code (wich this topic will contain spoilers for) which I thought was an interesting movie, but would make a much more interesting videogame. The first step would be to make sure it was only inspired by the movie and not actually associated with it because movie video games tend to suck. SPOILERY BITS AND SUCH FOR THE MOVIE BELOW In the movie there's a soldier that pretty much died in a helicopter crash except for his brain which is put in some quantum machine or whatever they called it ("quantum" here meaning "magic that looks science-ish"). When a terrorist bombs a train, the people behind the "Source Code" use their magic machine to let the dead soldier relive the last eight minutes of a passenger who died on the train, changing it however he wants in the simulation (without affecting reality) to identify the bomber and stop him from bombing his next target. THE AWESOME* VIDEO GAME IDEA *your opinion may vary The idea I had after watching this was a game where you play as different dead soldiers in different terrorist attacks (or any major crime where someone dies). In each scenario you take the place of one person who dies in the attack. You will have a variety of conversation options and there will be hidden clues and weapons lying around to help you find the culprit. Everything will reset every eight minutes (or when you die, whichever comes first) so you have to memorize people's behaviors, clues, weapon locations, etc. So tell me what you think of the idea, better or different ideas you may have, and if you happen to know a guy who can make something like this happen. (Also a better title, because "Source Code: The Videogame" is abysmal and probably a copyright violation)

Metal Gear Solid. Between the original MGS trilogy, Spelunky next week, and Killzone: Mercenary in September, I don't see myself putting down my Vita for a very long time.

9/10, because Death Note, L, and Coffee are all good things.

Metal Gear Solid. Pretty great on the Vita, though the Psycho Mantis fight intro loses a little bit in translation. I feel like that is better experienced with a PS1 console. Also, the game looks pretty damn good for a PS1 game, and the "Stretch-to-Fit" style Fullscreen doesn't look as wonky and distorted as I thought it would.

I'm about 15 years late to the party, but I'm becoming quite an MGS fan, downloading the PS1 MGS as we speak... er... as I type, rather. MGS2 is bloody fantastic once my brain stopped wanting it to be a third person shooter and got used to the controls. Also in MGS5 Kiefer Sutherland is apparently going to be voicing Snake instead of David Hayter. I have to say it, Hayter's gonna hate. Although it could be a Shyamalanian twist where Snake was Jack Bauer ALL ALONG. Joking aside this news is, in the words Gordon Freeman, ass-slappage.

MGS2 & 3 on the Vita. Having trouble getting used to MGS2's camera/controls. I figure I'll get used to it eventually.
