  1. I agree. Ross's quality bar is so high, most people probably won't see it until they're lying face up after they trip over the low bars set by some other Let's Players and Machinimers. Side Note: Please tell me if there is a better word than "machinimers" because that sounds stupid, but I want a single word for it and not a two-word solution like "machinima makers" or something. Machinimakers. Machinimasters. Machinimonkeys. Something along those lines but not as stupid.
  2. The bottom line is Ross is sexist. Wait, no... I spelled that wrong... sexiest, Ross is sexiest.
  3. Ok, offering your seat to a pregnant woman is just common fucking courtesey. They're growing a damn human being that's going to explode out of their genitals at some point, the least you can do is offer a seat. Also, because of how I was raised my brain is hard-wired to think of women as more deserving of sympathy by default (within reason, of course. Evil ladies are still evil people.) and generally treat them with more respect. It is technically a double standard and it is sexism, but I don't really see the harm in it. I certainly know women aren't defenseless. I've helped teach some women's self-defense classes and I can tell you first-hand some women can be downright vicious. [/my2cents]
  4. Well the "pirate it, then buy it if I like it" mentality is really only valid, in my opinion, if there is no demo or trial version. Obviously a "never piracy, period" situation would be best, but unfortunately there's idiots on both sides. Although stuff like the or the Garry's Mod Error or pretty much anything listed here is obviously the best way to deal with pirates, if only for the shits and giggles. As for abandonware, the legal action like you're talking about seems kind of like someone who spits in their food they don't want so nobody else can have it. On one hand, it's their food so they can do what they want with it, but on the other hand, they're kinda just being dicks about it.
  5. I can agree that "well I wasn't gonna buy it anyway" is a pretty lame excuse. If it's fun enough to pirate, it's fun enough to buy. There are few cases where piracy is (in my opinion) acceptable. 1. Abandonware, like Ross has said. In these cases piracy is usually the only way to get the game. And even if you can find a legal copy, it will likely be a used copy which will net the devs the same amount of money as if you had pirated it. If it's for sale on a digital distribution platform, I would not consider it abandonware. 2. There is no demo or I'm not sure if my computer can run it. I don't want to buy a game that I won't be able to play or one that just sucks. In this case, if the game works and is fun, I will then buy it. Neither of these cases results in a loss of money for the developers. I also think that anti-piracy measures should be less EA Draconian and more Dennaton passive-aggressive. Hotline Miami had a buggy pirated version, so the devs helped fix the pirated version to give everyone the best experience. That would make any pirate with half a soul feel like a massive dick. It also takes away the "Well, the devs are being evil so I won't give them money so I'll go pirate herp derp" argument. In cases where the developers EA are being evil EA I think you should boycott the game instead of pirating it, because then it just gives the evil devs EA more statistics to go "LOOKY LOOK! PIRATES! ARM THE DRM CANNONS!" "But sir, the cannons are aimed at the loyal paying custom-" "FIIIRE!!!" Not that I EA know any EA developers like that EA This would make for a wonderful cross-over episode. If someone can get a Doom Guy model in source and if Ross can find someone to do the animation I think it's feasible.
  6. Being a pirate is alright with me.
  7. I second that notion, but how does that fit with Gordon's personality? Gordon is stranded, starving, desperate for something to eat, but all he can find are these very strange mushrooms...
  8. Fantastic video. I'd have to say that out of FM, CP, and RGD, CP is my favorite and FM and RGD are about tied (though RGD is maybe a little ahead, if only because it's still shiny and new). Though it seems to be that when comparing Ross's work to Ross's other work it's a matter of determining which gold nugget is the biggest and shiniest.
  9. I agree, I'm rather enjoying that.
  10. "Nor dime, nor nickel, nor penny! Cash, credit, or get the fuck out!"
  11. NO QUARTER SHALL BE HITHRED HERE! Hither is not a verb.
  12. Well you'll probably be pleased with what I have in mind for the Halloween episode then. I feel like the scene from my avatar, Bruce finally finishes replying to all the emails he gets, and then more emails come in magnitudes more. Ross Scott, why hast thou forsaken me?! At least it's not subtitle post-it's? Also as far as obscure games, you've probably never heard of the brief, lewd, untitled and poorly made choose-your-own-adventure game I made in 8th grade on a TI-84. It probably doesn't even exist anymore, but I spent more time in Geometry making that thing than I did doing actual geometry.
  13. Nerd³ did an 8 hour Desert Bus Let's Play... ...so consider yourself lucky. (for now)
  14. You can say horrible shit about a game I love or wonderful things about a game I hate and I'll still love the video as long as it's entertaining.

  16. I like that you're going more in the vein of Nerd³'s indie let's plays. Just sort of goofing around with obscure games to get your opinion out and to show off a game that a lot of people may not have heard of in a funny sort of way. Also, as far as game reviews/Let's Play's go, saying you're "Like Nerd³" is a high compliment coming from me as long as you're not simply copying him. (Which you're not, BTW, you retain your own style and your show is amazing even despite your distinct lack of British accent)
  17. I recently bought Crysis: Warhead as part of a Steam sale, and this is the first quote I thought of after I got to the chapter titled "Call me Ishmael."
  18. As a person from the Southern United States, I very much appreciated the amount of guns and vegetarian-mocking in this video. Looking forward to more!
  19. I know what you meant, but for some reason my brain conjured an image of a filming rig with Obama lying down on a backdrop with a podium suspended horizontally parallel above him with a camera facing directly down.
  20. The marvelous narrator of The Stanley Parable Demo. Any doubts I had about them charging for what used to be a free mod are now even more obliterated than they already were. They deserve my money. All of my money. Also, if you have not played The Stanley Parable Demo, do so right now. Do not research it, do not worry about possible main-game spoilers (there are none), just download it and play it. Especially if you've never played the original mod.
  21. 8/10 (moving)
  22. People with crappy or no heating during the winter. Anyway, while we're on the subject of no clothes, here's one of me naked
  23. GTA V... I wish. If I'd ordered from Amazon I could be playing it now... Actual last game played was Killzone: Mercenary. The covert contracts are fun and interesting. The precision contacts piss me off. I got to the end of one mission, every objective and extra objective complete and I had about 7 seconds to reach the end of the level (second mission right before ) The distance was short enough where I could've reached the end in time, but there's a door in the way that wouldn't open until Ivanov finally shut up, and by then the time was up. The checkpoint kept putting me back right at that 7 seconds, so there's no way I could possibly win without doing the whole mission over. Ranting aside, it is a quite fun game, and I love the bigger focus on stealth. There was one stealth section in KZ3 that sort of felt like a long stealth tutorial that the game promptly forgot about. It's nice to see there's actual choice in tactics in KZ:M
  24. Killzone: Mercenary. This game is much better than KZ3 in my opinion
