Roman Catholic Europe trying to recapture the Holy land from muslims... that crusade???

@BTGbullseye: yes, that's what would make it so hard to contain. you can unplug one computer. but when it is spread across the internet it could/ would be everywhere. If you would destroy PC1 with A.I. it would already know it needs to counter your at PC2. or
-
But if an A.I. becomes smart enough/ self aware it would spread across the cloud, thus being everywhere and the problem would not be solved by just unplugging or destroying the main computer or hard drive (like skynet in Terminator) not a perfect example but; in a few years cars track the driver, and this A.I. is being updates via internet. If microexpressions change on the driver change: Car stops If you appear drunk: it wont start.... This system gets smarter by learning from the driver and updates to the main system. Others cars do the same. If after years of learning this A.I. becomes so smart that it sees that the best course is to simply not let humans drive anymore. By the time that the main system has updated all the cars and the human controllers notice a problem it will be to late.

Yes but those book were written in times were people we less intelligent. They didn't investigate the signs, they could not comprehend the things they had seen and concluded it could only be the work of something that supersedes them. Example: thunder, lightning. Such an amazingly powerful force of nature. We have the tools to study and to some point, understand these forces but there was a time where we did not and we believed it was a sign af god being angry with us. They break more commandments then just the one not to kill. Shall not take the name of the lord in vain Shall not commit adultery Shall not bear false witness......... And nor am I an expert, it's just interesting to discuss about these things sometimes

@Lord Sinister @1: Yes, and in religion usually when that idiot takes offense people die! ( the Crusades, Thirty Years War, Taiping Rebellion, jihad) @2: Well that's the entirely point. The point is if there is no evidence for something it's not rational to believe in it. John believes aliens are out to get him, and he acts on those believes (wraps himself in tin foil, etc) He is put into a mental hospital, this guy is nuts!!! But, if enough people wrap themselves in tin foil and start screaming "they are coming", "they are among us"... The it is called (mass hysteria) "sorry", religion. Or would you call someone believing pyramids were made by Aliens, a belief for which there is no evidence, a rational belief? Or If I would believe those aliens are the Combine and the pyRamids are are leftover relics of the first occupation of earth... A rational belief?

@Bjossi: correct but we arre creating smart machines now to observe our behavior and if necessary correct our actions or warn us or stop us from making any more actions. They have the skills to learn. So at some point they should learn to do tasks they were not originally created for. They are connected to the Internet. So if at one point they make a conclusion that it is not the human about to make another mistake and needing to correct it but Conclude that the humans is illogical and he shouldn't be performing any actions. The a.I. then evolved from simple task solving to complex problem solving things, or thinking. They upload their behavior and others learn those skills.

Ah, but my guess is that because of the way that machines are designed to communicated with each other there will not be a reason for much rooms and hallways. Why would they use such an inefficient way to transport themselves? Why would they transport themselves? As with networking, one unit would have all the knowledge of the next.

They probably are, and by doing so they are keep feeding on the vicious circle of religious violence. Strange actually that although humans are (supposed to be) the most intelligent animals, they still believe in religion. I mean think about it... How big of an ego do we have to believe that: There is a supreme being out there that created heaven and earth, the entire cosmos just for us http://uploads.ungrounded.net/525000/525347_scale_of_universe_ng.swf That everything on this earth is there just for us, plants, trees, animals... ALL For Us !!!

Nowadays because pretty much everyting is hooked to the Internet, if it would ever become self aware. Whe probable won't be able to contain it. (as In T3 scenario) If that would happen it would probable evolve very quick (going from a single processing unit to a vast network of processing units) Different unit have different ways of exploring and finding a solution (like weather computers all interpret the same data in their own way) they would interact with each other and quickly evolve to thing that we are unable to design right now. At that moment things could turn in all directions. Scenarios like skynet in terminator, or like movie I robot,..... ---------- ghosts in the machine. Random segments of code, that have grouped together to form unexpected protocols.Unanticipated, these free radicals engender questions of free will, creativity, and even the nature of what we might call the soul. Random segments of code? Or is it something more? When does a perceptual schematic become consciousness?
-
lol, was wondering what happened to my last post. Fears were skynet erased it.

ohoh. http://terminator.wikia.com/wiki/2011/04/19 goes online april 19th 2011. nuclear apocalypse two day later. so. people, what are your thought on Technological singularity??? Could it lead to judgement day???

THERE WILL BE CAKE? THE CAKE IS A LIE!!! THE CAKE IS A LIE!!! THE CAKE IS A LIE!!! THE CAKE IS A LIE!!! THE CAKE IS A LIE!!! THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!

Good point, but population growth should settle by itself. Normally, if a tribe or country does not have enough food, water, settlement to accommodate for their population growth, they will stop growing or become extinct. Harsh reality: richer countries just buy/take what they don't have or can't produce themselves from less developed countries. i.e. western countries using up sugar cane and corn from africa ....western countries use it for fuel and africa ends up without food

i know i missed a lot of wars, crusades, the point i was trying to make is that right now we are doing things to the environment and making waste that wil have serious consequences on life and the ecosystem for 100,000 years or more. That's like if we would be stuck with waste, radioactive soil, water that was left by cavemen!!!
-
Completely agree, and if all this rapid advance at things like "really" clean energy curing of various diseases ... Seems like we are putting more effort in advancements towards things that seem insignificant when we are facing problems mentioned above.
-
Usually where those good idea's stop. Problem is were are simply to selfish, If it was all going to go south within a comprehensible time it would change. lets say if we didn't have alternate energy sources by 2017 there would be a deadly mixture in the air and we would all die within a week... Then it would change But reality it is our grandchildren (or grand-grandchildren who will be in trouble.

Secure storage: we can hardly build things that can last a few hundred years, let alone 100,000years. Problem with those "secure vessels" leak after 200 years or so that stuff wil get into the soil, water..... So, when you can't possibly dump any more @location A... Dump it @ location B. 3 problems: A. Every time we launch another missile we already add crap to location B space, and it floats around earth (wich is also getting a problem) B. To send that rocket to the sun (or moon for that matter) we need fuel which we are running out of C. Rocket to send it there is build from various resources that are also running out.

Dang, reading my posts i sound like some sort of treehugger. Oops, not one of those btw @BTGbullseye: yes, there are lost of positive things created that benefit mankind (penicillin, MRI's...) i just sometimes have this feeling that we mostly use it for games, entertainment, profit. Ikea cutting down a forest for my new kitchen, closet (still in good shape, but so 2010) recently they were digging up old cables from 2005-2006 and replacing it, (so i guess i will probable have 50Mbps speeds soon) GPS while good old maps have worked for more than 500 years. replace TV 2009 (1920×1080) for 2011 model HD+1 (1921x1081) weeeee! Using car to get newspaper or something mile away. companies flying parts, half way around the world because little cheaper or example milk: from farmer John (a few miles away) shipped to factory A (30 miles) factory B (50) then shipped to C (bottling (330miles) then to store.

@Bjossi: Of course, History is filled with horrible facts, colonization africa 60,000,000 Colonization Americas 100,000,000 30yr war 9,000,000+ Taiping 30,000,000+ WW2 50,000,000-70,000,000+ and all very very traumatic to victims and those involved, What happened never had any long term physical effects (long term as in 3 or 4 generations) populations did shrink, but like all animals we humans are pretty good at breeding. What i am referring to is the fact that we are messing with things that effect a much greater span of history. One example that is very current. Some radioactive waste will remain hazardous to humans and other creatures for hundreds of thousands of years. That is a time span of us looking back at cavemen and finding remains of charcoal used when they discovered and used fire.

Has anyone ever considered how we will be remembered in History? We as in the last 100 years. When you look back in history, you have inventions, evolutions and discoveries the discovery of the wheel the discovery and evolution of agriculture inventing tools Alphabet Paper, papyrus Pottery Windmills, watermills written languages glasswork metalworks gunpowder ...... ... . My guess (fear) is that when you will look at a timetable of history in 500 years or so (if we still walk the earth) what will it say??? Using up all Fossil fuels stored inside the earth filling the ground with byproducts/ waste of nuclear energy Destroying large parts of the ecosystem etc. thoughts anyone.....

This could also be a way to get some funding, since you havent places a donation link on your site. Ppl buy T-shirts, add 10% on the price, take profit, and you aren't obligated to anyone to make more video's or something like that. "i think you're the reason why some people sleep with a gun under their pillow." "Is that an MP5? It is! Now I can solve up to 800 problems a minute!" "get a room you two, This is a family missle silo!" "Why is everyone who's not me such a problem!" 'way to lock yourself in the freezer, I'm so proud of you" "1234. Ah ha ha! ... You know, as much as I'd like to claim this is a result of me being a genius, it's more that someone else is not!" "Yes, it IS good to see me".
