I'm glad to know you enjoy the collection, Ross. I'm actually doing a major revamp of this collection, adding metadata, track information and several new versions of game music, particularly for 2000. The only stuff I have left to really sort is the 2000 music for Mac and PC versions, and I'm keeping the Windows versions' MIDI files. Bit of a pain, but it should be done by the new year because I work on it on and off. You also might be interested in some SC2K music remixes done by a friend of mine here: http://community.simtropolis.com/topic/53736-simcity-2000-music-retexture/

Surprise! I updated this!

Yeah, the first iteration of the collection was in 2009. Most of it I gradually amassed, and the SimCopter & Streets of SimCity music were found for me by Simtropolis members. I found the WillTV shorts on and the Internet Archive, though, so that's good.

I was surprised when I heard the news myself, but in retrospect it's not THAT surprising. Ross is a highly talented individual who's garnered a not-insignificant following. I wish I had spare cash to donate myself. Godspeed, Ross. The future's wide open, and I will watch your videos.

Finally updated this. Also here's a link to the . Yes, the music is still pretty good.

I like the newer sounds, but I agree that the old sounds should be kept. Instead of foleying in the gun sounds. they should have made a sound mod. It's easy! If I could download the sounds in question, I might do it myself. ...so could I get a download link or something? Please?

I, uh... I'm not a very big fan of the Critic, and I'm not sure whether I'd trust the TGWTG network, but if they let you upload your videos efficiently then I guess I'm okay with it. I guess I can deal with blip as well.

Loved this one. Simply great stuff. If you're going to do something like this again, I would suggest Call of Duty. Either the newer MODREN WAFARE stuff or the old, actually decent WWII stuff is fine. I find it a bit odd you'd use level SIX of episode one to make what is supposedly episode SEVEN. Maybe that level suited itself better to film-making, maybe you just decided to pick a late level and roll with it.

I'd post it anyways, but I CBA to find links to free legal copies of it right now. (there are several of them, trust me) Heck, I bought the original trilogy's music in a box collection. At least it's all nice and organized (on my computer, the discs are long gone sadly).

688(I) Hunter-Killer is a damn good classic submarine sim. Naturally, it has some damn good classic submarine film-like music. Since the game was a product of the late '90s, it's all MIDI, but a guy I know is remixing the music (and also the SimCity 2000 music). You can find the remixing here and the MIDI files here.

Another guy on another forum gave this to me to post on that same forum, so I might as well do it here. SimCopter is an old Maxis game that lets you fly helicopters around 3d representations of SimCity 2000 cities and do missions and such. A cult classic, the graphics are sub-par but the concept is pretty cool. Note that the music was originally encoded at a very low rate, so try to keep this in mind while listening. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?vdzkm24tvnc13gq (114 MB)

Edited the Burnout 2 link.

Agreed, the Halo music is damn good. I have the music from the first three games and ODST; I'd post it all here if it weren't being retailed for money.

You mean FMV, right? ...yes, mea culpa. also lollatereply

I'm liking the new engine as well. 'Lift' certainly showed you could do much more with it than Source, at any rate.

I relatively recently updated this collection to be more comprehensive, but I'm not going to write a whole new OP here when I can link to the original post I made on another forum with the downloads linked there. Enjoy. If there's anything wrong with the collection, please let me know. Major props to Ross for using some of the SimCity 4 music in the Civil Protection Christmas Outreach episode.

The episode was alright, but the SimCity 4 music was both unexpected and delightful. Kudos to you Ross. EDIT: Whoops, didn't know this thread was that old. Still, I just watched it a couple minutes ago (i know, late to the party), and the appearance of that music really struck me.

Bob Roberts. A cult classic political horror film about a (fictitious) Pennsylvania Senate Race of 1990. Bob Roberts is the titular character, a devious, scheming politician played by Tim Robbins. You would not want to campaign against him. Part of his repertoire involves seducing the populace with a number of vapid musical numbers (he's a folk singer, see): They're catchy enough, but just listening to the lyrics reveals how crazy Bob is. Robbins refused to have the songs published on an accompanying album, since the songs work much better (and aren't nearly as offensive) within the context of the movie; he didn't want to hear that crazy gibberish on the radio from some DJ who took it seriously.

The tracks were ripped directly from the game with a little program I found (couldn't get the graphics or other game sounds unfortunately). It proved to be the best source for the tracks. The track names were found somewhere in the game itself; the Deluxe version was released in 2000. I find the game and the music to be as nostalgic as it is fun...and obscure. I didn't think you'd express interest in this music, but you did. I'm glad you like it! It's gotten a fair number of downloads as well. (I know this thread's pretty old but I just came back to the forum after a while and I was surprised by this here thread of mine and wanted to reply.)

I heard about this utterly weird game a while back as well. Of course, I'm also familiar with 'YOU ARE DEAD, DEAD, DEAD'. FLV games of the 90's, eh?
-
This is absolutely amazing. It almost makes me want to play through the game again. You guys need to see it. Apologies if this has already been posted here; I needed to show this to you all.
-
this was an excellent episode even if it was on the short side i see the mystery episode has been uploaded to Machinima; it'll give me something to look forward to that's for sure

Updated the OP with the Deluxe game music.

The Tunnel Discussion Thread [CAUTION: Spoilers!]
Trar replied to doomplayer's topic in Civil Protection
I enjoyed this episode. Ross did leave a few questions unanswered, but hey - not everything's perfect. I think i'll go watch it again.
