The developers said the most iconic portal elements are the turrets and the companion cube,but i disagree,when you talk about portal the first thing i think about is the cake;i dont want them to hammer this meme on our heads,but barely even mentioning the cake was almost an insult,during the whole game the only moment i remember the cake being mentioned is the GlaDos trap before the confrontation with GlaDos,and you have to read it on the door. SPOILERS END P.S it would have been sad and funny if ,at the end of the game,a headcrab would attack Chell They did that more because they didn't want to feel tarped following what portal did.

Well, I complain when I personally feel some one is not doing things right/well, I prefer standing up to my principles than being silent. . . Of course it would be preferable if Valve heard my voice directly but I am not so much criticizing Valve directly as I am criticizing the mindset displayed by a few individuals. Whether Valve's long, active secrecy around one of the biggest series in gaming is a good or a bad marketing strategy is a matter of opinion. Personally I am patient and will wait as long as it takes but I simply try to explain why I feel people have the right to criticize Valve's strategy. Saying things like "Man up" with little else doesn't advance the discussion. Ya people complaining about Valve not showing anything at E3 when portal 2 has just come out is not dissimilar to complaining about a chef not having a new dish ready when you've just finished eating, more so due to the fact valve has already announced portal 2 DLC this summer. You say with little else but it obviously got my point across, so why should I of said more?

Doesn't matter whether valve made it, or not because valve ask/commissioned gearbox to make them so yes they are canon. thats like saying the 6th book of the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy isn't part of the story or the last 3-4 books of the wheel of times aren't part of the story either.

Because their making a full game out of it? just because their making a full game doesn't mean they have to change the name hl3 from hl2:ep3, more so because the story-arc of HL2 is not complete.

Please read fully as I said None of the aliens are from Xen and from the story-arc of all 3 hl1s Nihilanth appears to control all the aliens that were coming through the portals as they were all fleeing the Combine, as for what X-Race is there isn't any expanded material on them. Same way a Baby grows into a Woman? Because if you watch as you play through hl1 that the headcrab zombies look more and more like Big Momma with the hand starting and the split in the stomach. Likely simply because in hl1 and in hl2 there is simply far more humans then anything else. One other possibility on X-Race and the other one like that is they are from the Combine(more likely actually now I think about it) so the hornet gun/X-Race/Gargantua/etc could simply of been Combine soldiers coming through with the vorts and nih and would explain why there are none in HL2(Combine using as shock troopers not occupation troops).

Xen is the "Crossroads" of the universe nothing there is native to it. The vorts are a race that fleed there from the combine, the big boss at the end of hl1 is the the leader of the vorts(at that point) and controls they telepathically. It is likely that the aliens that act like soldiers(guys with hornet guns and vorts for example) are controlled by the Ninlth(however it is spelled)where as the headcrabs, hound eyes and stalks would fall under the term 'wild-life'. The Big Momma is a mother of headcrabs yes, it is likely that any headcrab that is feed enough or lives long enough on a host becomes that. Any thing they could like vorts(fairly obvious).

The concept art that was released said hl2:ep3 did it not? just because their moving away from episodic development doesn't mean their games can't be titled as episodes you know.
