  1. 10 are seeding the files but I don't get any downloads so far, I'll keep uT running in the background today and see what happens.
  2. System Shock 2 - Inventory, RPG elements, very scary (At the time, but it still is a little scary for me.). Serious Sam - Running backwards while holding mouse button 1 was never so much fun until this game arrived. Red Faction - The storyline grabbed me, as cheesy as it is, I also found the music and environments very atmospheric. HalfLife - Is there anything that can go wrong with being a trigger-happy scientist? HalfLife 2 - The more cinematic brother of the original. I love the character development across the game and the episodes. Ep2 has especially good "relax moments" between the action bits in my opinion. The game world really captures me; fx. when I first saw how massive the citadel building is I had to grab my eyes as they fell out, especially at the start and end of Ep1. Painkiller - Fantastic graphics and fun action mixed with interesting gameplay elements such as tarot cards and the 5-star challenge (Which I never attempted.). I feel the story is this game's weakness but it all balanced out well. I only played Painkiller and its expansion Battle out of Hell, the three other games do not deserve to be put in the same category despite sharing the name, they were made as a publisher's act of desperation for more income. Quake - A fun, mindless shooter set in a world that I feel Quake 5 should return to. Quake 2 - The game I grew up with. I know most of the enemy positions in the entire game. . . Fun, mindless shooter that has a soundtrack that really puts me into the mood to shoot. I think that should do.
  3. There is no perfect, future-proof backup method. The rule of thumb is to have at least two copies of the data you don't want to lose. Offline backup storage is not safe, only safer.
  4. Let's try this again. Now that The Tunnel is available on this website there should be no controversies. I downloaded the torrent and it is ready for action, as soon as someone seeds for me that is. . . I already got the downloaded version of The Tunnel so the download gets a head start at ~32% on my end.
  5. And? You're unhappy that no one cares?
  6. Someone should tell DaveD that torrent files themselves are not illegal or rule violating, only their content is subject to copyrights and other laws. If a file is not allowed to be shared torrents will be equally as bad as any other form of file sharing, such as websites like rapidshare or hotfile. Calling torrent files out specifically just makes no sense. And for the record all Civil Protection episodes are already available for free download on the author's website, I can not imagine anyone being against sharing his/her stuff with torrents specifically unless the person in question is less than well educated on how torrents actually work. You know what would be a nice title for it? Civil Protection: The Torrent.
  7. Backups are best kept on an offline hard drive...
  8. As if people will suddenly stop buying and playing the yearly, frozen-at-full-price-for-years Call of Duty self-parodies once DNF is out. The good stuff already exists and will not cease to being made, you just have to dig into the internet to find it, as it is for the most part pretty obscure. The mainstream will always continue being a flow of shit with the occasional puddle of genius, you don't exactly get games like Deus Ex, System Shock or Thief on regular basis.
  9. Science learned to use such words as 'cannot' carefully. It is like using god mode in games: an effective but a very cheap way that ultimately has no argumentative merit.
  10. I see nothing wrong with allowing people to have some innocent fun once in a while. Doesn't hurt anyone.
  11. I have never had any of my games broken beyond repair. My old copy of Quake 2 is scratched to hell and back but still installs without hiccups. If you take good care of your games the natural data degradation will be the end of them, and that process takes decades, even then you can make iso backups of the games (At least the ones not crippled by illegal malw- errr... I mean DRM.) or make a new CD/DVD copy.
  12. He needs an eastern European accent to be precise, that is the region of the fallen Soviet union; Russia, Ukraine, etc.
  13. I'm working at the moment. 4 hours to go before I can go home.
  14. What do HDD crashes have to do with physical copies? If anything it is much quicker to install a large game from DVDs than redownloading the whole thing.
  15. Too bad they don't make them anymore. But I guess the current boxes are more space efficient, the old boxes had a lot of unused space in them.
  16. We should totally lock it and have a mods-only discussion.
  17. My point was that there is plenty of scientific evidence and knowledge that leads scientists (and me) to believe the current theories, but there is no hard proof yet to confirm them. Tasty food for thought: If science later proved that neither evolution nor creation was true, would it become biased because of how sure it was about evolution previously?
  18. Of course not. We have to learn the things that seem most basic. What I find interesting though is how "stuck" the memory of bike riding becomes, it would take a lot for you to forget it once it is learned. Wish I had that kind of memory for my exams. Sexuality is partly learned as well, some people are unsure about theirs and find out through experimentation.
  19. Any soda drink in glass bottles is awesome. Looking at the poll I can feel my inner Pepsi fanboy blood boiling.
  20. Hehe, as if "very rarely" is a positive thing to say about the experience.
  21. Physical copies all the way. I only buy digital downloads when they are the only (economic) option for me. For example I found myself forced to buy the Serious Sam HD remakes over Steam since the physical release was a major screwup overall.
  22. All emotions and feelings are born in your brain, it is all just chemical activity. "Just" is however a big word, considering the brain is still largely a mystery that has brought more speculations and theories than any confirmed and understood functions.
  23. Do keep in mind that evidence and proof are two completely different things.
  24. I want to see the Tunnel all green as well, and then to see it simply disappear off the chart since it is done, giving space to new projects. FM #31 has also been on the chart for a long while despite being released a long time ago.
  25. I like it best when Mike and Dave get themselves into all sorts of adventures with little or no other characters being involved.
