He is actually incredibly fast, I think it's ridiculous how he's tackling another Game Dungeon already. I don't think he even had a chance to sleep until about 9:00 AM last Poland morning... Hah, if only we actually did. Like Ross said, episode 59 and others were recorded long before it was ready for release, it's just me who is really slowing the production down. He's like an astronomically charged high-energy neutrino; he cannot be stopped. Speaking of which, remember that you still need to send me the files for 61, Ross. Also, I have a slight qualm about the following: YOU LIE! Downloadable copies are never available later! I don't think I've downloaded any Freeman's Mind episodes this year. That means I haven't even seen the 720p resolution yet. I don't actually mind waiting, but I was wondering if there was any date that you were planning on uploading the original copies?
-
Not easily, ThatGuy. I don't know if Ross wants to reveal the secret, but this was part of the reason it took longer to make. Wow, I am really surprised at the reception this episode got on YouTube. Then again, I really shouldn't be reading those comments. Ah, you noticed that too, huh? Also, personal apologies on my part, good folks. The first couple of sound attempts that were sent to Ross were not quite perfect, given how the old engine rendered some different sounds on different levels. So keeping things consistent and working around the timing took forever. At least it's 13:24 minutes long though.

Plus, I think they were spamming pornography in particular, I'm not sure. All types of crazy stuff anyway; those were dark times... That is an awesome comic.

Aheh, careful not to hurt yourself getting all worked up, ShyPerson.

Yeah, I think I know the feeling. This all kinda reminds me of my first contracted job; I'm still surprised today how much it really traumatized me in a lot of ways. Even though "trauma" is a word I usually associate with serious childhood scars or extreme violent encounters, I realize there are degrees of emotional damage that are more than fit for the word. Even memories of seemingly simple or subtle things can make you sick if you remind yourself of them too vividly. Anyway, I better not delve into the subject too much. Wow, that was a great interview, Roberto! I loved hearing about the college degrees and general copyright topic. I'd like to know more about Ross's security work. What was that like, and did any of it inspire some of the themes in Civil Protection?
-
Heh, I agree. Where did that come from?
-
Hey man, that's pretty neat. I didn't even know there was a different Singaporean or European theme. I think I like the original Half-Life one the best. I love the transition effects you applied, and there's something quite cool about the death animation from the HECU soldier at the end. I'm surprised you don't have more views.

If the U.S. is like an underfed teenager at a dinner party compared to Europe, then New Zealand is a starving homeless child eating from the dumpster bins outside. Wait, let me say that another way... If the U.S. is like a handicapped runner in the internet race compared to Europe, then New Zealand is a half-blind snail crawling over its own shattered shell pieces. Okay so that's quite harsh, but our connection is seriously considered one of the poorest in the world. I'm sharing a monthly data cap that's recently gone over, again, and is costing us an extra $120 and growing. Stephen Fry once said that "New Zealand has probably the worst broadband I've ever encountered. Turns itself off, slows to a crawl. Pathetic,". For the last couple weeks I've been limiting my access to just forum reading, if anything. It has changed my entire mindset on internet usage. I start getting paranoid that people on the network aren't restricting their video watching to 360p resolution or lower.

Wolfe, you look surprisingly similar to your own avatar, I think your eyes, nose and mouth are a great match. Are you attempting to imitate the Richard Branson behind you, by the way? And hey, Alyxx, I wanted to tell you how much I prefer your new avatar over your older ones. I thought that just saying it would be awkward, so I decided that having a reason to post would be better. So then I made an anti-aliased version: Yay!

Haha, the things you guys say... As I write, I'm listening to an extended version (that I made myself) of this song: W4NCC0dUXks I was watching a documentary called The Shock Doctrine that used this music. I couldn't get it out of my head, and I knew I recognized it from somewhere...

I wasn't aware of this. How are they coming back and what changed to make this so?

I WON'T CLICK THEM! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME CLICK THEM!

The elimination half-life of morphine is approximately 120 minutes.

A Freeman's Mind Soundboard (request/suggestion)
Otto replied to ColeTheKing's topic in Freeman's Mind
Wow, that's actually incredible. I wish I could've been there to help you out, a knock to the head is not to be taken lightly and repeated impacts can slowly lead to a concussion. Luckily I don't play very heavy contact sport (or much sport at all) but there's still a lot of collisions around me and I try to be as aware of them as I can be. Thanks for sharing anyway, I know it's off-topic and probably quite personal. Well, I actually have a game in an hour so I better get ready... -
I REFUSE TO LOOK AT THE UNDOUBTEDLY HORRIFIC IMAGES UNDERNEATH THESE "SPOILERS"!

I'm actually very interested, and I know a lot of really amazing stuff that isn't on Gorilla-Gong yet. Unfortunately, I can't even find the time to post them on the GG Forums, and the others I plan to recommend actually DO have the Machinima watermark on them. The creators haven't even been able to re-upload them on their own channels yet, and they're years old. I'll see if I can apply for this a couple more weeks down the road. I'm sorry but I can't get all the information right now. I hope to see some other people interested in reviewing for GG as well.

A Freeman's Mind Soundboard (request/suggestion)
Otto replied to ColeTheKing's topic in Freeman's Mind
What? WHAT IS IT!? What is the fourth option!? This thread actually got a lot more input than I expected, that's pretty cool. Wow, are you serious about that? How did it happen? -
Sounds like a bloody good deal. Next holiday trip, you get to plan a visit down nostalgia road.

Hey, Shy, I finally had the time to post it: Truly the most MAJESTIC creature known to Earth... and Xen! I just found Chuck Jones' site who had a bunch of old concepts and illustrations he did for Half-Life, Team Fortress and Counter Strike. I'm a big collector of this stuff so I was amazed I hadn't seen it before. For some reason, I immediately thought of you and your avatar when I saw his Chumtoad animation, so I had a strange urge to post it here as soon as I could. Oh, BUT WAIT! There's More! So cute. I know I'm overexcited about this, that's why it's awesome.
-
Hey man, I finally had time to try it out myself and I can't seem to get it working, none of the sounds play and the animations are the same. Am I somehow installing it wrong when I copy the files to the Half-Life: Source base directory? I even made an "addons" folder in case Valve tried to update their old games and change how mods function, but unfortunately there's no progress and now I feel foolish.

Interesting idea, I would like to hear a more fast-paced overdub but it would probably mean a fairly different character than the current Freeman. So it would basically be an overconfident, daring Freeman on Ecstasy, Coke and Meth. I don't know if it would be too much work to cover it all, or if it really fits with the FM formula, since a lot of those shortcuts break the game immensely, but it would definitely be quite fun to watch.

To be honest, and I'm actually less inclined to say it now, but I find the responses by Bullseye, Vapymid and Wheatley to be far less hostile and aggressive than your own, or Doom Shepherd's and The Pest's. I don't mean to be crass and maybe I'm growing a little biased, but I think even his insult that you are deluded if you think articulating your ideas easy is less offensive than the indirect insults and derisive scoffing that I keep seeing against him. Is there a point I'm missing in this second post? Are you disagreeing about the difficulty of translating what's on your mind, or are you still insisting that he admitted to making up what Darwin thought? I suppose it could be a mix of both, but I get the impression that most people lean towards the second definition. Does this quote help at all? http://dx.doi.org/10.1038%2Fnature07894 Unfortunately, It doesn't say what his 'resolution' was or when he said it.

Haha, you just blew my mind.

Go and find one then! Nothing ever satisfies you, does it? What's better is having images that still work...
