  1. The MKV file only opens with Movie Maker, so I guess that means I don't have whatever codec I need to play it. I have no motivation to get that codec either. MP4 is fine, although I don't mind WMV if it works.
  2. Keep it in WMV at least. You can throw up an MP4 or AVI copy if you want, but there's plenty of good media converting software out there for people who want exotic filetypes.
