Julian Assange Breaking News!
Lord Sinister replied to HLPrincess's topic in Serious Topic Discussion
Exposing corruption and crimes against humanity, etc: Good. Leaking information about undercover agents for no GOOD reason that puts them and their families at risk: Bad. There's no good excuse I can think of for exposing the latter. You may criticise the intelligence service or whatever it is for being unable to keep secrets but the fact remains that if that information genuinely puts people and their families at risk leaking it is morally wrong and there is no justification for an individual leaking it whatsoever. That said I don't know much about EVERYTHING Wikileaks has leaked, but regardless, I stand by what I just said in the above paragraph. -
List of movies online (for Halloween and more)
Lord Sinister replied to Jek Jek Roo's topic in Free-For-All
If anyone knows any films themed like Sleepy Hollow or Trick R Treat, I'm interested in those sort of films. :3 -
I had no issues with the crate-jumping room at all - you don't even need to crouch jump!

The gaming industry and aquaphobia - By Alyxx
Lord Sinister replied to Alyxx Thorne's topic in Gaming in general
Well regarding Doom 3, it was set on Mars so large water sections 'may' not have fitted too well. Also regarding Deus Ex: Human Revolution, I'm sure it's mentioned in some background information about the game that Adam fears the water because if he happened to fall in he would sink due to the heavy weight of his augmentations. As for the number of games including more extensive water sections, you may be right, however two do immediately come to mind, Capsized and Hydrophobia: Prophecy, which are both on Steam (although I will admit I've not played either yet, despite owning them >- -
For me the tentacle monster NEVER stopped smashing at the ground, so I played the waiting game of waiting until the three of them were on a different level to the one I wanted to be on before I moved along it. I often waited on ladders.

For the Rare Specimen achievement...

Just finished my first play-through of this. It was pretty awesome and appropriately challenging. Occasionally the voice acting seemed a little iffy, and some of the Lambda Core jumps were a bit frustrating, and the mod is not without a few bugs, but that was about it. Overall a very satisfying experience and one I recommend!

In the original Half-Life didn't you had to hold your USE key in order to get them to heal you? If so, it might be the same in Black Mesa.

The only bug I've seen is when anyone tries to rub the back of their head, their hand goes through their head. Minor, but still. There was also a bug with the head-crab latch mechanic that made the screen all purple and black (the missing-texture material) until the head-crab was off, but that's not an official feature anyway. I like how you can pick up bodies and throw them. Using a dead head-crab to smash a window is incredibly satisfying. Nice, I'd only successfully picked up gibs before now (larger bodies are too large to pick up). Just gotten past Blast Pit now!

It's over now, but amazingly they reached ALL their Kickstarter stretch goals, even the Documentary one! Greatly looking forward to this game on release, oh yes.

Currently up to We've Got Hostiles (it only finished downloading earlier today). I think this is about as close to Valve quality as modders who don't work at Valve can get really. It's been great so far. I've been making a list of the bugs I've found to post in their bugs section.

Sure, they'll get it done in a giffy.

"The List" - (Freeman's Killcount)
Lord Sinister replied to Space Hunter M's topic in Freeman's Mind
The term 'homicidal maniac' becomes more and more appropriate. -
Cool, I thought you needed HL2. Good thing that its completely free. It actually says this in several places such as the Greenlight page: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=94128543 Also 43%!

Well we can hope. I'm personally hoping there's LOADS in the Paypal account and that they'll easily smash through several hundred thousand but it's probably highly unlikely. If everyone increased their pledge by $10 it would easily smash through the $1800000 stretch goal. Well, I can dream anyway.

You don't need to own any of those games, you just need the Source SDK Base 2007, which is free to download, at least as far as I'm aware.

I'm currently listening to this repeatedly. hWTFG3J1CP8

It's the final push now for those stretch goals in the last week: Two of the five stretch goals have been reached so far, and all but one of them have been revealed so far (with the latest one being a 'Galaxy War' mode. Currently on $1,351,626. I'm hoping it will reach all the stretch goals but the last couple seem doubtful, however the rate of increase in funds has picked up in the last day or so.

If you read the comments on the page different people are viewing different numbers. I think Valve's servers may be having issues. This page says it's on 34%: http://www.shrewdlogarithm.com/greenlight.htm

Did you downgrade because you wanted to or because you had to? What were you on before?
-
@Kirkreng, time generally heals these things I feel. I find it helps to think of the happy memories of them.
-
I've moved the topic. @ProHypster, I really don't think this sort of device would be used for personal transport. I expect a device like this would be used for going over uneven/unstable terrain, possibly in pursuit of other people who, on foot, wouldn't be able to outrun it.

27% in a day so far. If it continues to go up at its current rate it will be done well before Black Mesa's release. The real question is how long it will take to go from that stage to being on Steam itself.
-
You don't need to be alive to be useful, don't worry. @Kirkreng, worrying usually accomplishes little but we're all guilty of it at one time or another. The main thing is to be able to see past it and do what needs to be done, whatever that may be.
