Get a sheet of paper and print out the next fifty years on it, cut them out, put them in to a hat and pull one out. Then print out a sheet of paper with the 12 months on it, cut them up, put them in to the hat and pull one out. Then do the same for the days in that month. Do the hours, minutes and seconds as well if you're feeling up to it. Once you have your date and time set, burn the evidence bar the hat, then wear the hat AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE to distinguish you from the other crazies who don't believe the end is coming (you may want to line the inside with tinfoil or marzipan as well just to be safe), and start your cult about the end of the world with your special date. If you're stuck as for how the world will end, look up what other cults have said it will happen over the years, print them (the endings not the cults as that would be MURDER) out, cut them up and put them in to the hat.....don't forget to burn the evidence afterwards, and don't get discouraged by the fact none of the stuff you Googled ended the world when they were predicted! With all this done, you should probably be pretty close!

Have you considered trying to go it alone as a Youtube partner? Or is this not legally possible due to the fact you're using content from Valve's games in your videos? Or would this not be financially sustainable regardless? I actually have a feeling you may have mentioned this in a prior blog post or forum post ages back so I may have to try and look that up.

And in other news, the world did not appear to end today. Aliens didn't arrive, a magic planet didn't manifest and collide with the Earth, the planet's poles didn't reverse, the climate didn't decide to go nuts, and we didn't see the crazy events of the film 2012. Or the second coming of Jesus. We could all talk about how the people believing this were a bit off in their 'calculations', how the Mayan calendar was misread, and that the apparent second-coming of Jesus date needs to be revised again, but I would prefer to take the more sensible option of saying WELL WHO HAS EGG ON THEIR FACES NOW??? I'd like to also firmly state that I intend no offense towards anyone, AND respect everyone's beliefs right up until the point where they were proven wrong. I also feel it's worth clarifying that the existence of God is neither proven NOR disproven, and that I do not include the standard followers of conventional religions in the same group as those who believed the world was going to end today. I will not take bets of millions of pennies for the next date set for the end of the world, especially none relating to the approach of the Apophis asteroid, which is actually worthy of serious discussion.

Does Life Have Meaning?
Lord Sinister replied to Collective Foal's topic in Serious Topic Discussion
Does life have meaning? Who knows. It depends in what way you view it I guess. If you view it in a general all-of-humanity view, the main thing I feel is that we're here, now, and that's how it is and we should simply continue to progress and learn things about the Universe around us over time. Does this constitute a purpose and meaning? To learn and understand? Maybe, but again, who knows. Through the continual march of progress and knowledge acquisition, perhaps we may yet learn the answer to this question. Or maybe it could be a means unto itself; To answer the question we continue to gain knowledge and understanding of the Universe, which in turn you could say provides meaning to our lives. On a person-by-person basis I suppose it depends on your beliefs, what you can do and what you want to do. Perhaps you believe in destiny and your skills lead you down a particular career and life path? If your life has focus or if you have a purpose in life through doing something or accomplishing something, you probably feel your life has meaning, which seems like common sense to me. It means that to you your life feels like it has value, it has a purpose, and thus it has meaning, at least to you. -
It's worse when people short-sightedly choose to end their lives by hurling themselves in front of trains without thinking about the psychological impact on the train driver. As for the end of the world stuff, in the event that something happens, I'm confident the human race will survive in some form or another. Apparently an asteroid came within 140000 miles of Earth a few days ago, apparently prompting calls by some scientists for the creation of plans to deal with the threat of a possible collision from one of these things, as apparently this thing was only detected two days before it passed by, and there's not a thing we could have done about it. The Apophis asteroid is due in another 30 years or so, I believe, and that's estimated to pass even closer.

In my opinion, notifying those best equipped and trained to help with situations like this should never be a cause for guilt in feeling you could have done more. I don't know how much medical training or whatnot you have, but in the case of someone injured, possibly seriously, I believe the best thing you should do is not touch them even if you are able to reach them, except on the advice of trained professionals on the other end of a phone call to the emergency services.

Metro 2033 is a game well worth changing the subject for!

The Usual Suspects, Wall-E, the first Sherlock Holmes film, Corpse Bride. There are almost certainly others that I haven't immediately thought of for this post. I'll add them as I remember them.

Well I've had a crack at this as well having noticed this thread (it may be necro'd, but it's also relevant so lets just post on topic!). It seems my avatar's hat may be the same source as the one you used for Jek Jek Roo's avatar in your post, Mr. ShinyObject. It was the best positioned hat I could find myself, but I have no idea if it's freely available in the public domain or not (I found it on some media.tumblr site). :S I'm hardly good at image editing, but I tried to darken my hat so it matched the light levels of my original avatar, and I tweaked the colour levels very slightly. I also stretched the hat a little so it would fit.

Red Triangle pictures - sort of HL2 in real life
Lord Sinister replied to Vapymid's topic in Free-For-All
I believe City 17 is supposed to be set in Eastern Europe, Raising the Bar mentions Valve's artists doing research in areas like this for inspiration if memory serves. -
I'm not sure if you're looking for advice or comments on this, although you have posted it on a public forum, however I do apologise if I offend you in any way with the following. If everyone stops caring, things will not improve. Yes stopping caring may reduce someone's stress level in their life for a while, but it's only delaying the inevitable. Unfortunately this statement doesn't really help you. Advised not to sing your own national anthem? That sounds somewhat silly, political correctness gone well and truly mad. However, whilst there are plenty of twats, idiots and scum in the world, none are exclusive to any one particular culture. Being tempted to injure people because they're immigrants isn't really a good attitude to have. If they're immigrating, living off the state, not working and doing no good for the economy because they're lazy, then fine. But judge people by their personalities and by their merits, but not by their nationality. As for self-esteem, I can only advise you to look to what your current skills are. People often say this, and I know myself in 'the past' I'd say nothing of merit, nothing of value, but the truth is if you have the capacity to learn something, if you're capable of physical activity and you have the spare time to available, then focus on one particular thing you would much rather be better in. Becoming good at something, or having something you can draw upon, anything at all, from being able to play a musical instrument like the piano to being good at running, can be a good source of self-esteem. If you find you can still do stuff but still feel that you are lacking in self-esteem, then try to improve. I subscribe to the philosophy that there is always room for improvement, and that anyone can do almost anything given enough time and practice. I also apologise if I have misinterpreted anything you have said.

I highly recommend Mumble, it's pretty awesome: http://mumble.sourceforge.net/

Sleep! And relax for a week and play Black Mesa, etc. I know this is common sense, but it's worth stating anyway that the more destroyed you are without rest, the harder it is to create good work, and the quality of it will start to suffer.

Will the real Ross Scott please stand up?
Lord Sinister replied to Ross Scott's topic in General News
Oh yes. Sadly, such scum exist. Lets hope that anyone who has donated (there's bound to be some) who discover this can claw their money back. -
I also play this game a bit! I do play on EU servers though, however I'm sure I could play on the US as well if we got some AF people together.

Homicidal rage. Then lying about it. This feels a little too like a forum game, so depending on whether or not we stick to these quick-sentence posts or whether we develop in to crazy discussion, I may move this to the forum games section.

A new conversation subject on something inane such as the weather, the traffic, and so on, or possibly something very slightly related to what you were previously talking about, but not a subject designed to be talked about at length, ie there's only so much you can say about the day's weather, but it serves to bridge the gap between what you were previously talking about at length, and what you may next be talking about at length.

I know dude, I wish there was a way to lower it. I really do. However, the shipping does not increase no matter how many shirts your order. So you can order a set and it will not raise the shipping any more. I will be talking with USPS, FedEx and UPS tomorrow to see if we can get that price lower. No no, I entirely understand that the shipping overseas costs money, there's no changing that. If I decide to order a t-shirt I'll bite the bullet of overseas shipping costs.
