As I believe I posted elsewhere, I find the concept of a truly sentient AI fascinating....then again I've probably watched far too much science fiction or things from the Terminator franchise. I am assuming of course that by "technological singularity" you are referring to sentient machines or sentient AI in some form or another.

I'm playing Starcraft 2......again.

I wonder how many people signed that boycott simply because they were hopping on the bandwagon of controversy, so to speak. I'm not really sure a sticky is necessary, the topic doesn't have any risk of being buried by other topics in this section, and when the game comes out there'll almost certainly be posts in this thread about it, and possibly a separate one for spoilers etc. On a more awesome note, it's been nearly seven days since the last video, which means that the third of the four new Portal videos could go up online some time soon.

I remember Enterprise being pretty decent, although I wasn't so keen on the Xindi story-ark. As for the Elite Force games, I enjoyed the original more. Still, you people are saying Babylon 5 is worth watching? I'll have to look in to it if so...

My vote goes to the gravity gun, because physics manipulation is almost always fun.

Well considering that we're the only race on this planet that records history, when we're gone, there goes our place in history. (especially if the planet gets destroyed before aliens get here) Perhaps that depends on whether or not what we create destroys us but continues on (such as machines).

Oh absolutely. Great job changing the poll options though. One last detail is that it's 'Tau Cannon' and not 'Tau Gun', but that's only a minor detail. My vote is now cast for the Gluon Gun!

Same thing. Not exactly considering the content of his sentence. He's asking 'If Freeman's Mind 2 is created then will x happen?'. Although it should be 'If there is a Freeman's Mind 2' not 'If there will be a Freeman's Mind 2', however it is still understandable. Anyway, with regards to the question at hand I would say it is unlikely, after all he's playing through Half-Life without the HD pack, I'd say that if he plays through Half-Life 2 he'd probably do it with its default graphics. Still, who knows, anything could happen. We'll just have to wait and see.

Im not sure are Trip mines or snarks are really "gun" type weapon Ah true, I just assumed you wanted to go for 'favourite weapon' rather than merely just guns. After all a grenade isn't a gun and that was in the voting list. Also you've still got the Tau cannon and the Gluon gun in the same poll slot.

I've never seen Babylon 5 before, is it any good? Also the topic title could probably do with a change to reflect the new poll options.

This thread looks really interesting, I'll definitely have to give it a thorough reading when I'm more awake (1AM here. ). A little food for thought though, perhaps it is not the systems themselves that are flawed but human nature itself.

The Tau cannon and the Gluon Gun are NOT the same weapon! I much prefer the Gluon Gun to the Tau Cannon. I remember thinking the Gluon Gun sounded just like some sort of vacuum cleaner or a hair dryer....but with a bit more bass and a giant laser beam. Great stuff. EDIT: And you're missing the trip mines, the satchel charges, snarks and the magnum...

Personally I feel sorry for everyone else. Hopefully this will all be resolved soon.

I would hope that by the time the planet becomes uninhabitable (or 'if', hopefully) we would be able to travel to other worlds for refuge. Anyway, our current population growth is unsustainable and probably a bigger problem than the other issues I'd say.

Ah I should have seen a thread like this coming. I hope it doesn't rapidly descend in to anarchy. I have enjoyed both franchises in the past, and depending on my mood I may sometimes be in favour of one over the other. In general though I think I'd probably go with Star Wars.
