New Valve IP? New Valve creepy IP if you ask me.
Lord Sinister replied to Julie's topic in Valve Games / Valve Stuff
Your link now appears to be dead, but after some googling I think I found the images here: http://junkyard129.com/forum/index.php?/topic/826-remember-that-unseen-valve-concept-art-here-are-28-close-ups-speculate-away/ -
Currently for me it's a cross between Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Stargate SG-1...

I think it should be kept, but changed slightly to allow staff to moderate it and deal with abuse. It would be nice to see in my profile what I was getting reputation for, and from whom. Or to know what I was losing reputation for (and thus what to do right). An alternative would be to have a reputation system similar to the Steam forums, where you cannot take reputation from people, but you can give it to them for good posts. Finally, I think you should not be able to give reputation to different users more than once every five minutes, and not to the same user again within an hour of repping them previously.

I was just using Thou Shalt Not Kill as an example, I cannot remember all the commandments off the top of my head. In truth though, quite a few of the ten commandments are a good guide to how to live your life by (don't murder people and so on). It's common sense, but it also provides some people with a reason why they should be 'the good citizen'; to show that they have faith.

This is why in the event we do end up with powerful AIs managing things, safeguards should be implemented. Multiple safeguards.

Well yeah, we've got a lot more than 16 people here. Still, if people are interested I'll post up my server's IP (and anyone else's servers that they own for different locations like the US). Would be great if we could get some TF2 going and some awesome chat on great moments.
-
I'm in Canada, and I never get a good ping on any UK server. Yeah, I've never had a good ping from any US-based servers either.

With the latter points, it depends on the evidence available, otherwise it is just superstition. The evidence for a fair few of these religions seems to be things such as Holy books that are many years old, their origins unknown. This mystery is what adds some weight to Religious individuals advocating their own as truth. However I highly doubt that a lot of people are 'truly' following their own religion correctly. The Bible for example advocates I believe, 'Thou Shalt Not Kill'. Yet the Crusades and whatnot clearly defied this commandment. I am far from an expert on religion however.

Ah yes, I remember seeing that a while ago. It's great. Anyway, in my opinion it's impossible to rule out the existence of a God just as it is impossible to prove the existence of a God, for now anyway.

I've always interpreted the term postulation as being when someone puts forward an idea or something that could possibly be fact. They then set out to prove that, ie 'Group x postulated that extra terrestrials do exist'. They then set out to do research and try to verify their postulation. Anyway, this is vastly off-topic. To drag us back on-topic, PC games can be expensive, or at least seem so to a University student such as myself. So unless I'm sure a game is going to be good I won't get it on release. To try and find the best price for a game, I use http://www.best-game-price.co.uk. I've found it to be a really useful website but I suspect it may only be useful to people from the UK. However there's loads of other price comparison/searching websites out there which can help. In general though, games do seem pricey, especially on release. I can only really comment for PC games though as I've never purchased any console games due to not owning a console.

I'm sure I heard Dave say the world Cthulhu when he was babbling, but beyond that I don't have a clue. I don't speak any foreign languages (bar trying to learn German, but it didn't sound anything like German ).

How many times have you rewatched the entire series?
Lord Sinister replied to GameGodOfAll's topic in Freeman's Mind
Bjossi, what do you mean by episodes that 'play weird'? What goes wrong exactly? And as for myself, I've watched Freeman's Mind in its entirety once, but some episodes I have seen multiple times (but not all of them). -
I'm guessing it reminds you because of the fact that they go underground in to a cave/tunnel? I can understand what you're getting at but personally I didn't get reminded of Minecraft when watching it.

I pay for a UK TF2 server with 16 slots if anyone's interested.
-
It's easy to change servers. There's usually just a button to press with blizzard games. Unfortunately I don't think it's that easy in Starcraft 2. I have a feeling there's possibly a fee to change servers (but I don't know for certain, it may not be possible at all), or you can just buy another copy of the game. I remember there being a rumour ages back that cross-server play may be planned, but I have no idea if this is true or not.
-
Sadly I had to. The thing just isn't sold anymore. Still, there's always the hope that it might pop up on Good Old Games...
-
Yeah but right now you can buy everything with points you earn in game as well. So you still need to "work" for your weapons, but you don't NEED to pay money to get decent guns. Ah yes, I had heard about this too. However when you earn those weapons and so on with points, it's only temporary isn't it? Or is it temporary with money as well? Or is it permanent with just money or both?

That Box Fort thing appeared to be surprisingly effective and, even better, free.

If asked their reasoning, I'm pretty sure it would generally be along the lines of that they were doing it to demonstrate their loyalty to their God.

Twiglets are awesome, but I don't know if they get sold outside of the UK. They're like....marmite covered....sticks? Difficult to describe, but awesome nonetheless.

I haven't actually played system shock 2(but i might soon), but as far i know it is set in space and i also really loved the old, kind of steampunk feel that rapture had to it. It really makes me wonder how it looked in it's glory days. System Shock 2 is very old so hopefully you're someone who can look past the graphics if you play it. I did when I played it around a year or two ago, and I enjoyed it. You'll have a hard time buying it anywhere these days though.

I saw a video for this and it looked...intriguing, but I don't know much else about it, other than that you can pay for extra things in the game with micro-transactions, such as weapons, etc.

I've dealt with several spam bots here recently, evidently they are getting through the 'enter confirmation code' bit. Another bot protection method might be needed like a simple sum or something. If any of you see a spam bot post, please report it by clicking the little ! button on the post. It points it out to us staff.

And this week's video is...turrets!

I would ask if you wanted to play against me, But I don't have my mouse. I would whoop your ass with some Protoss. Ah I'm not very good so I'm sure you would. I don't play enough, University work and its impending deadlines are closing in around me... Still I might be up for a game at some point if we can organise it. Hell, team games with people on this forum would be awesome, providing we're all on the same servers (I'm on the EU servers for example).
