  1. The riots are pretty bad. Supposedly, they're 'calming down', but it's been like that in the day, then flares up at night, which is approaching, so who knows what could happen. More police have been deployed though.
  2. Well I certainly didn't know about these spears you mention. What do they look like exactly? Literally pointed sticks?
  3. The term lag can be applied to both internet and FPS (although in online gaming it appears to be more commonly used in reference to internet performance in-game). Also pings are not representative of lag from one player to another, only to the server itself. If you're home hosting your ping will be low, but if everyone has a ping of 200, you'll see them as laggy players.
  4. That's nonsense, the distance (and I 'think' the number of exchange hops) make a big difference!
  5. Nice one! Now to see what ping I get. EDIT: It averages at around 200. EDIT2: But it was fun playing as a Spy with a few people despite my terrible lag (causing facestabs, missed shots/shots that shouldn't have hit that do, and other horrors).
  6. That's not what I meant. If you already own a game in a pack that you buy, all duplicate copies automatically become giftables. (you can't have 2 copies of the same game on the same account, but you still payed for the second copy) This only applies for certain games. Unless it explicitly states that copies of games I already own in the pack can be gifted, they'll just vanish when I buy the pack. It's been like this on Steam for a long while. EDIT: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4502-TPJL-2656 EDIT2: This is what it states if I add the Quakecon pack to my cart. It refers me to the support page and does not explicitly say the extra copies are giftable.
  7. I don't think they're giftable copies.
  8. I already own every Quake and Doom game on Steam EXCEPT for Quake 4.
  9. When I was a lot younger and still in primary school, I remember Pokemon being on television. I remember hating it. It put me off the entire 'art style', anime, manga, the lot. I had the 'look' of it associated with that show that I despised. > Nevertheless, after much persuading I have since seen the Hellsing anime (both the OVA and non-OVA version, I think OVA is basically the version that is truer to the original manga?) and I enjoyed that (more the non-OVA one). I have also read an English version of Death Note which I enjoyed. However part of me is still put off by the art style, from watching bits of Pokemon years ago. Anyone else sympathise with this/want to kill me?
  10. I'm aware that the graphics on System Shock 1 are pretty dated (owing to it coming out in 1994) but I wasn't going to let that put me off.
  11. Anyone else played System Shock 2? I first played it a year or so ago from less legitimate sources owing to the fact that the game could not be purchased....anywhere. It was brilliant, and I eventually got myself a copy off Ebay very recently (although sadly the copy is not in that good a condition which was not what the description led me to believe sadly). For anyone who has never heard of it, yes it is related to the Bioshock franchise in that Bioshock was the spiritual successor to System Shock 2. And whilst Bioshock was great, I believe that System Shock 2 is a superior game. The game is set in the future aboard the Von Braun, where you wake up in the cryo-recovery-suite with most of your memory missing and the entire place about to decompress. And everyone appears to be dead, apart from one person who is communicating with you to try and help you stay alive and hopefully fix things. Also (and this is why System Shock 1 is in the topic title), I also got hold of a copy of System Shock 1 from Ebay at roughly the same time. This game I have never played, has anyone else? Got any advice, etc?
  12. Why oh why is Quake 4 at a silly price and not discounted at all!?
  13. I have both games on Steam so I'm up for this as well.
  14. Is there any particular server where people tend to gather? I could post the IP of the server I pay for if anyone's interested, although it is only 16 slots (and based in the UK, and I gather most people here are from the other side of the pond, so to speak). If there's several servers we could have the IPs all in the first post and have events organised around them.
  15. It's simple; he's obviously nuts. The average person does not plot to murder those whom they see as 'traitors' for not fighting religious extremists. The average person does not go out and then proceed to murder many innocent people to 'fight' their war. There is no justifying his behaviour, I'm not saying madness is an excuse, I'm saying its the cause. Besides, he was even saying he was working with 'other cells' that have since been proven to not actually exist (or so said BBC News). This sounds fairly delusional to me. Of course my views here could be totally wrong but this is how I see it.
  16. Is it possible to build up there I wonder?
  17. I'm in to various things, atmosphere in particular. Metro2033 was brilliant in that respect, the atmosphere was so tangible, it really felt like a proper place, with real people. It's quite unique for me.
  18. I had no issues with Windows Vista, although I did have 4GB ram.
  19. Back on topic please, people.
  20. when? Around ten minutes ago some [TCHS] Graf Mєτ®Iτцτцѕ probably sent you a game invite. :3 EDIT: Assuming it worked of course.
  21. I just tried inviting a few people in the Steam group to a server I own, but sadly no one responded.
  22. This issue sounds like it's not just Steam then, something else might be the cause of your problems. What are your system specifications and operating system? It may also help to provide information on what programs you usually have running in the background (anti-virus, etc).
  23. A shot that does greater than normal damage but not as much as a critical hit.
  24. Naturally. I was in fact posting at the same time just three minutes before. ;P
