It's apparently worth that much because it is incredibly rare. Something like that. I think.

Why no one should get Batman Arkham City (important)
Lord Sinister replied to Psychotic Ninja's topic in Gaming in general
Because the retailers profit regardless of whether the sale is a used copy or a new copy, but they didn't make the game. If they sell a new copy, money goes to both the retailer and the developer, but if they sell a used copy, none of the money goes to the developer. -

I'd agree if it looked like they were actually charging more money for it with brand new copies. -

Indeed, I read about this on Kotaku. Sounds like all people need to do if they didn't receive a code is to contact Warner Bros. customer services department. I assume they'll receive free replacement codes (as they were supposed to receive them in the first place) through some sort of verification process to check that the account the game is used on is the first to have that particular copy perhaps. http://community.batmanarkhamcity.com/news/latest/item/200-message-from-warner-bros--catwoman# I'd be quite surprised if they charged customers for this mistake. -

But....it doesn't look like they're selling the game at an unusually expensive or inflated price? At least not the PC version. -

Ah the good old Black Mesa 404 page...there was a stupid amount of stuff that could appear. Random quotes, random images and gif animations...great stuff. -
He might be a nut, but wouldn't silencing him be in violation of free speech and so on? I thought the US constitution protected against such things, etc?

To be honest, I don't see how they're hurting themselves here. Or their customers who buy new copies. The price doesn't appear to be higher than I'd expect it to be. It looks normal. You only pay extra if you buy second hand, which originally wouldn't have given the developers any sale money to begin with. -

There's a good reason for doing that, if the game is purchased second-hand, usually in that scenario no money goes to the developer for that sale. Yes the sale of the original copy gave some money to the developer, however because that other person is buying it used, it's a potential new-copy sale that the developers don't get. -
Is this supposed to be a Black Box with bits of grenade launcher taped to it?

I've found the game for around £25 on Amazon.co.uk. If it was around £6 less, then it would be roughly £19. £19 seems a little cheap for a game like this which is new. I don't think the price has been artificially inflated here based on the 'DLC'. I will admit though, I don't know if this DLC thing applies to PC copies as the game isn't out for PC yet, I'll have to check. I will say though that DLC is just a word here. This seems to be literally 'new copy DLC' that is a part of the game that you only pay extra money for IF you buy a used copy. -

Well apparently it comes with all new copies. ALL new copies. No restriction to special editions, collector's editions or what have you. It's an interesting way of making sure that people buy new copies rather than used copies. It may be DLC, but if it comes with all new copies, I honestly don't see the issue here. -

I was under the impression that this restriction only applied to used copies of the game. EA's had their $10 reactivation thing for used copies for a while now haven't they? I'm sure I read about a similar system before...I can't remember what it's called. I have a feeling it may be a console only thing for that last one. No idea what it's like with regards to Arkham City. -
As others have said, get well soon. No matter how long it takes to get an episode out, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

Friday? Friday's not good for us. Maybe try for the end of the world again in another week? That might work. EDIT: A link to whoever it is might be useful as well, as I'm not entirely sure who you're talking about.
