From what I've observed, languages in general seem to have inconsistent grammar in places, with English being particularly bad.

I wonder if this has any relation to your browser not being able to download attachments on that System Shock forum...could your browser be erroneously redirecting you when you click things like the Submit PM button? What browser are you using? Have you tried a different one?

No no, the reason I'm unsure is because I vaguely recall some comment from Mark Laidlaw saying they were not canon. I'll have to see if I can find it now. EDIT: It actually seems that Valve dodge canonicity questions and so on in general to avoid creativity restrictions in the future, so they expansions may or may not be canon. I guess we'll only find out at some point in the future...

For some reason although the forum rules have their own thread, they also show up on the 'Accursed Farms Related' sub-section, but ONLY that sub-section and none of the others. Is this intended?
