  1. Watched the simpsons, played skyrim, watched more simpsons, turned it off. Booted up, played pokemon, played league of legends. Did you also install any Windows Updates? Or did you do that earlier in the week?
  2. Damn, I should have recognised the Klingon even if I didn't know what it meant. The second line simply caught my eye and I saw and recognised obvious bits of it, and didn't really read the rest. >
  3. Patience is the best way forward.
  4. No, I probably should, I'm sure that would fix the default recording volume and possibly the hiss level. Would that affect the actual sound of the recording however? I amplify the recording after making it. What a few people emailing haven't understood is it's not the volume that's the issue, it's the way it SOUNDS. Your voice simply sounds different if you're talking in a loud voice vs. shouting. I really have no idea what's being affected there though. I still think it's all because of a lack of preamp. If you know anyone you could borrow one from temporarily that may help. If not, the preamp I linked isn't very expensive (it's around £40) compared to others I've seen, and it seems to do a fine job for me. I do honestly think it may fix all of your problems. However, if you want me to try and do a comparison with my own microphone with and without preamp to try and see if it's similar to what you're experiencing I can certainly try that (as in record and PM).
  5. I'm not really too savy on the technical specifications of folding@home (no idea what BOINC is, sorry. > Having briefly taken a look at the links you pasted above, I'd say the SETI one and the LHC one appeal most to me.
  6. 20 degrees cooler/20% cooler. People are ridiculous. I'm a huge fan of the show and even I didn't even think of that. People need to chill out/ I suspect that most lines said by people these days can be considered a 'quote' from somewhere or a reference to something. There's so much media out there that there's bound to be cross-overs. If the original author of some media that apparently features references to other media says those references were NOT intentional, then they were merely coincidental. This really should be the end of it, I can't see how anyone can argue the other way from this.
  7. I just ignore those people. When I am around those kind of people I do nothing, at first. I just watch and listen, untell I can walk up to them and spend a good 5 miniots ripping them a new one. And I must say that that is a great felling when you leave them crying on the ground. The people I'm referring to won't back down. There is nothing you can say to them that will change their minds, you cannot convince them to see their own flaws. They will argue it until you give up. Also I find it a little difficult to ignore them when I or others around me are getting insulted by these individuals. Despite the futility of it as stated in the previous paragraph, I do tend to argue back and defend myself or someone else needlessly taking flac they shouldn't be taking.
  8. Can you recount all the things you've done with your laptop between when League of Legends worked fine yesterday and when it doesn't work properly today?
  9. Unfortunately I already own most of the games I want on Steam. There are some I do not have though. Considering getting From Dust and the Alan Wake collection...
  10. Also, Ross, I am no means a microphone expert, but are you using a preamp with your microphone? My microphone was incredibly quiet until I started using one. I did some Googling and found this page mention something about it with your microphone so it's possible it needs one: http://www.johnnyo.biz/samson-stage/ I recall with my microphone before I had the preamp my voice was incredibly quiet, and if I manually amplified it after recording something in Audacity, it would have a lot of background hiss. Preamp fixed it all. I use this one myself: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/MIC800.aspx And this microphone: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vocal-Microphone-finish-Retro-Dynamic/dp/B0013NCY3Y/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1322058289&sr=1-6 Originally got it because I wanted to get in to voice acting, then ended up barely doing anything due to both background noise (family of 7!) and me not wanting to disturb people. > Anyway, enough about me, hopefully this information may be of some use to you.
  11. One thing that particularly irks me are the people whose egos simply cannot appear to take losing. In terms of video games, if they're playing alongside you or others, they feel compelled to blame you and everyone else for losing, even if they may have been partially responsible (or even entirely) responsible for the failure. In addition, blaming their opponents for being 'bad' when they (the opponents) have won, somehow trying to imply that their opponents won by luck or dishonest means, to somehow try and discredit their victory. The idea that they (the opponents) didn't genuinely beat them, and that they (the egotistical individual) is still better than them. And if you play against them in a friendly game (as you're both terrible at the game) and you happen to get the upper hand and they feel compelled to tell you how terrible you are at the game and insult you personally to somehow waylay the fact that they were bad enough to lose to you and couldn't take it even in a supposedly fun game. Gah!
  12. Is this anything like Folding@Home?
  13. I think I'll gently close this thread now as I believe all the important things have been said. If anything else needs adding then a staff member will add a new post here for people to read.
  14. True, but in terms of Freeman's Mind as a machinima, people may not be aware how far Freeman will travel in an episode. In addition people may not want to be made aware of various puns, jokes etc in the episode before they've actually seen it. I know my post contained none, but I believe it's always best to be considerate.
  15. What is it that you enjoy/that makes you people watch My Little Pony (ie do you 'simply like it' or do you have more specific reasons)? I do not mean this statement in a hostile manner, I am merely curious. That and some crazy theories, although I will admit I have not seen any of it beyond random 'meme videos' and whatnot posted on various forums. From my current perspective it does not appeal to me and indeed is not even designed for my age group and gender. I'm interested in what you people say on this. EDIT: Also...what's with the current subject of conversation in this thread!?
  16. The works of HP Lovecraft if I'm not mistaken.
  17. What you're doing here...is ethical. I'll fight it.
  18. The patch notes here suggest that it is now possible to render in 1080p, if that helps. http://store.steampowered.com/news/8384/ Was so good I looked it up on the Workshop page and rated it up! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=81440989 And that was a practice run!? I look forward to seeing more! On an unrelated note, I'm still waiting for my copy of the Source Filmmaker to download.
  19. If unsure whether a particular post is that of a spam bot, you could always try Googling the text and seeing if you turn up posts on other forums with identical text, etc. That can be a giveaway. In addition, sometimes they do not place links in their posts immediately, they post a 'normal' looking post then append links to it some time later. Something to keep in mind. Don't Reply, Report. If you want to continue the conversation in a particular thread a bot has posted in it, just ignore it like it isn't there. It will vanish in due course when one of the staff removes it. I know this sounds like common sense, but I feel it's worth saying!
  20. It's now out for everyone to use! http://teamfortress.com/post.php?id=8378
  21. Heh, I have a great idea for something I'd like to make with the SFM, but am I qualified? I doubt it. I expect I'll have to wait until it's fully released, I certainly don't deserve preferential selection. EDIT: Ye Gods it just appeared in my Games Library (around 10 hours after I made this post). EDIT2: Because it's been official released! Well that was a short beta! This should be fun! http://teamfortress.com/post.php?id=8378
  22. It was a throwaway comment he made at around 11-12 minutes in.
  23. Bisection actually was originally part of a larger map (a sequence of individual puzzles), but it ran so slowly (lasers REALLY drained the performance) that I split it up in to several different ones.
  24. http://www.sourcefilmmaker.com/faq/ It's just TF2 for now, but it doesn't sound like working with other stuff is outright restricted, it would probably just require some work. However you never know, maybe when the beta is over they might allow it to work with other Valve games.
