Hey I hadn't taken that into consideration. Looking at the boards my local store has, they have a mini itx and a micro atx board of the same price. But the mini itx is much more barebones. One is B360 and the other one B365M. I personally do not mind since my i5 8400 does not support overclocking. I currently have a Z370 one because it's what came with the bundle I bought. These are the two avaliable ones: ASROCK B360M-ITX-AC and ASROCK B365M PHANTOM GAMING 4 The B365M lacks USB 3.1 and onboard wifi but those aren't features I'm particularly attracted to. It has a better audio codec though.. I think I'll follow your advice and look for slim micro ATX cases for that mobo. I'm not fond of asrock as back in the Core 2 Duo days I had a G13 and G41 motherboard die on me and they were both asrock but I haven't heard of issues with their boards in years.

I'll definitely be jealous. My system is looking so ugly. I had some issues with one of my hard drives after an unexpected shutdown and opened the case to disconnect my data HDD and only keep the SSD connected. I dusted it off mainly to lower temps but man, I really need to invest in some decent looking fans. My current fans are random, some non-functional and look ugly being all different. I have a 120mm Corsair SP Blue on the back, a 140mm blue LED bitfenix (that for some reason doesn't work) at the bottom and the original exhaust CM fan next to the bitfenix as an intake. The front blue LED 120mm that is supposed to be able to be turned on and off only has 1 remaining LED that lights up and barely spins because of debris buildup. My dream is to get a mini itx motherboard and a nice itx case to fit it all in but since it works fine as it is now I don't prioritize it. The GPU is never over 70C and neither is the CPU. I plan to be able to move to another country by the end of the year and at this point, I think it will be better to invest in a good mini ITX case and motherboard and sell my old CM 690II basic and mobo. That will probably also mean investing in a good little heatsink as the Hyper 212X is not small by any means. It bugs me that ITX also sometimes implies getting an SFX power supply. :l If anybody has suggestions for a good mini ITX case that might fit into a large suitcase I'm all ears. The Dr.Zaber Sentry is beautiful but a bit expensive for my taste. I want the case to be affordable especially considering I might have to get a new CPU heatsink, motherboard, new power supply and maybe even new storage as not all small cases have support for a clunky 3.5' HDD. Bonus points if it fits an optical unit. The SilverStone Technology Tek Raven Z Evolution look pretty cool as it is one of the few that does fit a standard power supply. It doesn't support a 3.5' HDD but storage is not as expensive.

Nice. Are the temps OK? I'd guess two case fans are way better than the included ones on the GPU heatsink. I've seen people do this and it looks rad to me as a DYI PC Enthusiast.

Budget Desktop Computer for old games and the like.
Luis replied to Deus Ignis's topic in Computer Hardware
This system could easily handle the games you mentioned at 1080p/60 fps if you decided to upgrade your monitor. I would even venture to say you could run L4D2 at more than 80fps on high settings and no AA with a 560. -

Luis replied to Deus Ignis's topic in Computer Hardware
Hello Deus Ignis! Welcome to the forum! Yes we do have some avid builders here and people much more experienced than me with hardware of that time. I built my first PC in 2012 so I may be able to help. There are great youtubers like RandomGaminginHD or TechYESCity that focus on building very budget computers and maximizing bang for the buck. Here is his channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUzjKyS5r72bfvPkA6GxpRg Here is an example of what you can do with very little money by searching at the right places by Tech YES City bulding a PC for $135 He basically builds a PC with a quad core core i5 760 from the first core i5 generation and a 1050ti whcih is a mid range card from the previous generation with less than $250. That configuration will run you ANY game from 2014-2015 and lower at 1080p medium to high settings at 30-45 FPS for the most demanding games and more than 60FPS at 1080p high for older games like TF2 and I would even dare say Overwatch. You could even play GTA V at medium-high at 30-60 FPS. That is KILLER performance for that budget. Newer mid-tier parts like a core i5 or Ryzen 5 processors can cost that much. Now, in order to tailor our recomendations please give us the following information: The resolution you plan to play on (your monitor's resolution) and the Games you want to play and the country that you live in so we can tailor reccomendations to the hardware avaliable over there. Since you plan to play games from around 10 years ago, you can probably get a pre-used computer from 6-5 years ago for really cheap and add a relatively new low end graphics card. Basically any graphics card from the last 5 years WILL play TF2 or games like that, even stuff like Killing Floor at more than 60 fps at med-high settings. Back in the day I had a Core 2 Duo E7500 and a HD 5750 and that played TF2 at more than 60 FPS at 720p. We can help you chose the right used parts and give you resources so you can do it all yourself. At this price range, basically DIY is your only option to maximize bang for the buck. -
Well the thing is most front facing cameras as far as I know have a fixed focus point. They literally do not have focusing hardware. Unless you talk about seriously high end phones that have front facing good cameras as a highlight. So maybe there is a software way to make it work but as far as I'm aware, there aren't many phones that have hardware that enables the front facing camera to focus as a back camera would usig different glass elements on the lenses.

That's a glorious ass keyboard my friend. I'm more into tenkeyless but damn, that volume knob is sexy.

I got myself some christmas presents I bought an Audioquest Dragonfly DAC and AMP combo for my headphones along with the Apple CCK to connect it to my iPhone. The combo was about $130: It's not much of an upgrade from my iPhone's included adapter for headphones but I didn't really know that until after I bought it. I might be getting an Oppo HA2 now. It does make the sound a bit fuller and i head tiny specs of detail that weren't there before but it's not that much of an upgrade sadly. Still, a good product that has its uses. I'm certain it is better than my on board audio codec but not by much :l not the best purchase ever lol. I also got me a new essential oils diffuser. I have a doterra petal that an ex gifted me but it's been malfunctioning. I bought spare parts online and tried to repair it and it's better than before but nowhere near as good as it was when I first got it so I got a new one. It's the Smiley Daisy Hibiscus. It's been a killer performer for now. $43: And also got me a Bluetooth speaker, the Anker Soundcore Motion B. The Soundcore 2 was in a couple of best bluetooth speakers for under $50 so I picked up this updated model. It is a very good performer and very, very loud. The battery life is great. it has bass emphasis but it's not too much, it suits its purpose. I needed something to listen to music in the shower and on trips and my phone's speaker wasnt cutting it. I'm pretty happy with everything except the audioquest dragonfly black. I'll be upgrading from it as soon as I can. It's good but not what I was looking for.

Those M40Xs seem to be using some custom pads on the photo. Are you also going for the custom pads? I've heard that can improve their audio a lot (and those are really good by themselves)

Ok. We have 3 musketeers. If somebody else wants to join you're more than welcome. (More people = harder enemies = More Fun = more, better loot). @Alyxx Thorne I already have you on steam I believe and @BTGBullseye I sent you a friend request. My name on Steam right now is Vapor3oN (AF) (AF in brackets). Let me know when I can send that copy your way! :D I don't feel like dealing with hamachi or anything like that lol. Unless it works with good ping for all of us (less than 150-200)

Hey guys Back in the day when I first got BORDERLANDS I made a couple of playthroughs and have a couple of decent level characters but I stopped playing before the DLCs came out (and stopped gaming all-together for some time). I've heard they're really good. I'm specially interested in Dr. Zed's and CLaptrap's. Is there anybody who is up for the challenge? Borderlands is 3x as fun with more people and I really want to get the best experience out of it. I'm also down for the Borderlands 2 DLCs if you guys are! We need 3 people . Let's do it!

Hey I recently upgraded my motherboard, CPU and RAM. I went from an i5 4430, Asus Z87-K and 8 GB of RAM at 1600Mhz to an i5 8400, an Asus Z370-A prime and 8gb of ram @ 2133 Mhz (cheap ass ram) but this serves me well for now. I basically wanted to get better minimum FPS in PUBG as the war modes that concentrate tens of players in small spots made my framerate drop to 30s and 40s. Now it's more like 40s and 50s lol. Kept the 1070, CM 690II, Seasonic 620w PSU, storage, 212X and optical drives from before I'm thinking about a VR headset now but I need to get stuff like new speakers and a DAC before that.

Nice GPU upgrade! Those 3rd/4th gen i5s, even the 2nd gen, have great performance for 1080p gaming.

I just want to take time to appreciate the work of you guys behind the scenes. I have a lot of fond memories here in AF and love to see the forum and website re-vamped. Maybe Ross will start promotion the site a little bit more ro bring the forums back to their glory days.

Anyone know of a way to painlessly sell MTG cards?
Luis replied to BTGBullseye's topic in Free-For-All
People who buy cards for that much money tend to want them to be certified. You might want to look into that to sell that one easily. https://www.starcitygames.com/content/cardconditions -

Luis replied to BTGBullseye's topic in Free-For-All
I'm not into MTG or any card game but used to be into Yu-Gi-Oh a lot as a teen. I'd go the e-bay route and try at your local Anime-TSG-video game stores and tournaments, you can probably find people who value them in the crowd or get some better advice on how to sell them at a good price. -
Hey @ScumCoder , @RED@KTOR . Guys, it would be great if you could keep it on-topic and avoid off-topic talk. And if possible, provide an english translation of that russian text to save us all the hassle (and unprecision) of google translating everything. Just common courtesy

Imperialism does not need to count in direct boots-on-ground military intervention. The US has a long history of intervening in Latin American democracies and politics, supporting dictators, regime changes and with the most remarkable being assisting a coup d'etat in Chile in 1973 against Salvador Allende a democratically elected left-wing candidate, airstriking the Parlament and killing him. All because of in-house interests. Let me put it this way: The only major armed conflict Costa Rica (my country) has ever had was against Nicaraguan forces led by an infamous US imperialist, William Walker who invaded Nicaragua in the middle of the 19th century and just proclamed himself president, supported by the US government. You can look up lots and lots of examples of the US supporting nasty stuff like dictators and Death Squads in Latin America all through the 70s, 80s and 90s. In 1823, through the Monroe Doctrine the US basically dictates Latin America is its backyard and they have as much right to excerce influence over the territory as they wish.

I am I've been having some issues with Sven Coop though, i dont know why always when I open it it acts llike if I were pressing the walk key and I cannot run. It's really annoying. I'd be up for something similar in Synergy as well if you're interested. I downloaded Sven Coop back in the day and got turned off by the public servers, it{d be great to play with some AF peeps. My steam ID is Luigi2806 just in case

I commented on one of these that the content should be more constructive and generally engaging and that the author should put more effort into it because honestly even for a kid it's way too shallow and he's making a ton of money not to be able to improve it in some ways. And the worst thing is that it works like a charm. There's videos like that with dozens of thousands of views. Now, knowing this, it would be amazing if somebody with the caliber of Ross or even similar would make GOOD machinima for kids (or for all ages really) to counter the shitiness that is the status quo in that genre.
-
Hello guys. Most of us were present during the golden ages of machinima (2007-2013). Ross being one of the main exposers at that time and still has established a high standard of quality for what the genre can achieve, and so have multiple other producers. ''Machinima'' in itself as a term got overshadowed by the company who took it as a name. Originally the term was just meant to define movies made using game engines and assets. I've noted a resurgency of the genre in the form of videos specifically made for one of the most profitable audiences there is, young, small kids on youtube. In case youre not aware, channels for KIDS content are extremely profitable and extremely popular, reaching absurd levels of popularity. And it is common practice for noob parents to just hand a tablet to their kids to make them stay quiet or distrct them at all times, and a lot of that time can represent views, specially because kids don't mind watching the same content over and over and over. This video is one of the less-popular ones but a good example on how people really can bank on this kind of content while making 1/26th the effort ross makes per video. Take a look at this one with 4M views: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9RzcdJ86ZE. Most of these videos have ads enabled. What do you think of them? I find it annoying that so many of them are filled with branding and characters which get embeded in the minds of children way too much. There's whole compilations about mcdonalds happy meal animated trailers, I believe it is a bit conditioning for the minds of kids but so are lots of things... and production is really, really low cost with almost no dialogue, shitty animations/models/maps/lighting, it all sucks.

Hello everyone Well, I wanted to bring the subject to the table really as I've become interested in mining as a source of passive income, even beyond the current ethereum craze. Some people who were mining the most profitable alt-coins before this ethereum craze have been greatly benefited from the ethereum boom. People who went in ahead while the solving difficulty was as it lowest also were greatly benefited. Somebody who begins today may still be greatly benefited from mining in a year from now. While Ethereum may die down new currencies aresure to pop up and less-popular ones won't see a surge in mining difficulty as bitcoin or ethereum have in recent history so I've become interested in bulding a mining rig and hope to have it running or at least bought by the end of the year I thought about mining with my current PC as I have a 1070 bought before the craze and it's one of the most efficient ones (Zotac Mini, 1 8-pin plug ) but it isn't the most rugged in VRM or cooling (and the cooler is rather noisy), and it's my personal card so I'd rather not shorten its lifespan as it's my first really high end component (coming from a HD 6750) and was bought as a long-term investment, as the rest of the rig really. But I still ran the numbers and this is what showed me this has potential, potential to at least help me pay the bills. My numbers with this rig aren't really bad at all. My GTX 1070 is capable of 32 MH/s as per some youtubers, I'm new and I don't know how good I'll be tweaking so I estimated I could get it to 30 MH/s as in stock it gets about 29 I think. Power cost for me is $0.14 per KW/s and according to an online calculator, running my rig at current spec without optimization draws 268W from the wall. I ran a calculator and these are my results: Not too shabby I think, specially considering this is a gaming rig. To get started I plan on getting a RX480 from the local used market, they tend to go for $260 so we're good there and get either a new kaby lake pentium and mb or AMD APU, whichever comes out the cheapest and offers the best platform generally and for the rest of the system get a solid brand new PSU and source a hard drive from the local market and maybe a case which i'll strip down for max airflow. If I manage to mine nicely on my own or in a pool for some months and the card pays for itself I might just reinvest in another one and keep them milking that ether... What do you guys think?

You can only conjure Dinosaurs from the past, meaning Dinosaurs who are alive in the past. When summoning one what you're technically doing is teleporting a Dinosaur from the past who is minding his own business so when you summon him he has a panic attack and berserks everything around it. My super power is the ability to collect superpowers and choose which one to use at will
