It's not needlessly complicated. I installed Ubuntu using VMWare on someone elses computer by using the external hard drive as a hard drive in VMWare, and then just installed Ubuntu like I would normally. It's a long story as to why I didn't just use a flash drive to install it onto the EHDD. Now I'm using VMWare with XP because the external screen won't turn on on this laptop unless something with the right graphics drivers is running (which the XP setup doesn't have...). Oh and yes, the internal screen is broken. So that's why I can't just dual-boot Windows, and it's why I'm going to all of this trouble (and I REALLY don't want to install XP and the graphics drivers without a screen AGAIN! D=). I tend to be excessive with this stuff sometimes, but as long as I get it working I don't care. Actually, this isn't even excessive, it's taking the same amount of time it takes to do things the normal way. Though the screenless XP thing was excessive, I admit that.

Why do you want to root your playbook? More so, why a Playbook and not an iPad or a Galaxy Tab? Because there's some stuff I want to code for it that's not normally possible (but will be with the right manual tweaking, most of which will be guesswork for a while, but heh), and because I got it really really cheap. In other news, I am now using VMWare again... except this time I'm using VMWare inside of the Ubuntu installation I installed using VMWare... Why? Because the BDM isn't compatible with Wine...

I'm installing wine and hoping that the Blackberry Desktop Manager is compatible since I need it to root my Playbook X_X Then... I shall root my playbook...

Nagisa reactivated Nano's old reaction feature, and shocked her, causing her to shoot into space. Afterwards she came back down and I threw a stone, knocking her into the hill. Everyone on the hill (except for Nano, of course!) perished. Hakase then pushed Nagisa over and said "THE HILL IS MINE!!! YAY!". Nagisa ran in fear of Hakase's power, screaming "I'LL BE BACK! I HAVE BETTER TECHNOLOGY THAN YOU!". I wonder if anyone understood any of that
