Video chat update

I have some information on the soon-to-be monthly video chats with everyone. For the time being, I’ll be starting the first chat on twitch.tv here:

twitch.tv/rossbroadcast

I plan to have the first broadcast at 4pm EST on Saturday, November 14th. My plan is to give some basic updates as to what’s going on, then I’ll answer questions or discuss topics people are interested in. I’m expecting this to be a bit chaotic (I’ll have moderators, but probably not enough), but I’ll just respond to good questions / comments as I read them and address what I can. Since this is on twitch, I’ll also have a game running in a window, but it will probably just be one of my old game demos running so that I don’t have to be distracted while I’m talking.

Since it’s inevitable not everyone will be able to show up, no worries. I’ll put the stream on Youtube afterwards, plus I’ll try and cycle the time or day for the next time so that more people can show up. Anyway, I hope to start doing this once a month as a way to stay in touch with everyone. In the meantime, I hope to be working some more on the movie this week and catching up on the massive number of emails.

I live in UTC+3 timezone, so for me 4pm EST means midnight - almost perfect time. Can't wait for the stream.

That's 9pm for me. Depending on what I'm doing IRL, I'll be sure sure to tune in!

 

How long do you reckon the chats will be? An hour or so? Will be handy for calendar entries.

Just so you know Ross you are allowed to stream with no game on Twitch if you set your game title to "Creative".

Why aren't you using a normal livestream site ross?

Because I'm new at this and I wanted something I was sure could handle a ton of people and I know twitch.tv has a really seasoned architecture for this sort of thing. If people decide they want Livestream later, we can switch to that.

@Ross - that's a nice and really helpful map Jeb's made. Maybe it would be a good idea to put it in your original post. And also make similar maps for whenever you schedule any live events!

Isn't Livestream that website that only lets a certain number of viewers see your stream if you're a free user? I haven't really checked in quite some time.

 

I guess YouTube's streaming feature could also work as an alternative.

Ross, how much of an audience do you expect? How many questions you are planning to answer in one go?

 

Also, how personal these questions are allowed to be? I'm quite interested in your experience as a person who moved from US to the east europe, but it hardly has anything to do with your videos :)

Some Polish people might get fairly touchy about the thing, (perhaps I would too, I dont know) anyway ...

Ross moved to Poland. Poland is not in east europe. Poland is in Central Europe.

Hell yeah it's in CENTRAL Europe! This is why we have here one of the major drug transportation track going! Or, this is what I have read...
