Weird search filter

So I noticed a while back that a filter was put in place so you can't search too much too fast, but I just noticed that it also affects page changing for existing searches. Like, say, I search something, have to wait a bit, go to page 2, wait a while, go to page 3, etc. Not very convenient. :/

Is this supposed to happen or is this a bug?

I don't know why that'd be the case. I've lowered the time limit anyway, so you shouldn't be able to notice it now. I didn't because the limit doesn't affect me at all anyway. But that's definately a bug (might be something to do with the recent update to phpBB). I'll have a proper look into it at some point.
