I am not sure whether this fits in this section, because warsoup isn't even released yet. BUT it is a great concept and i think it sounds awesome. Warsoup is a realtime-strategy-first-person-shooter(quite a mouth full) developed by Moon Studios. It is supposed to be a mix between Halo and starcraft 2.

It looks interesting. Some games have tried first person strategy and failed a bit, such as C&C Renegade, which in my opinion is more of a spinoff than an actual C&C game, but I digress.

 
Sounds like a new version of Battlezone. (FPSRTS with people, tanks, aircraft, base building, and upgrades. Also customizable unit loadouts for your's and AI units)

I don't remember that being mentioned on their forum as any of their inspirations. But maybe i should try to play battlezone, i have never actually played and FPSRTS.

 
The weapon animations are done by the same guy that made Dance Fortress, the Dance animation of Team Fortress 2 characters.
