Here's the latest videochat. Nothing too important, mostly just some news that more videos are coming (I'm currently working on 3), and a reminder about the next Planetside 2 session (June 18th, 2pm EST). I tried to be more discerning about which questions got answered and thus was able to get through things a little faster this time. Not much else to say that's not in the video, back to work on the other videos!

Ross! You gotta add AccursedFarmsJunk and DeadGameNews to your Channels on Youtube, so people can easily refer to them. Same for adding AccursedFarms and AccursedFarmsJunk to DeadGameNews, and AccursedFarms and DeadGameNews to AccursedFarmsJunk Channels list. Just a little convenience thing, and it looks more legit or what have you. Unless you're not doing this little thing for some reason?

Anyway, keep it up man. Can't believe there's already so much dead game news.

 
Hey Ross I have a suggestion for you whilst doing these. When you get to the questions from the chat you should have someone reading the chat, taking questions and sending them to you in some sort of a chat system so you don't have the problem finding your place in the questions and so you don't get almost as much silent time as talking time when you look for questions.

Also, reading the questions you skip is in my opinion better than just silently staring at the screen.

Thanks again for answering my admittedly rather obtuse questions, I really do appreciate it. I've seen that Channels video by Grickle. Some parts of it are genuinely quite unsettling, particularly that one scene where a young boy stands a pebbly beach staring at one of the stones that is mewling like a baby. Graham Annable really knows how to tease out a kind of uncanny and uneasy variety of humour in his videos. One of my favourites is the one titled Closet - if only because it features the opening track from the 1992 film adaptation of Dracula.

I'd love to keep asking you questions for these videochats, but I'm painfully aware that posting here, as a forum regular gives me a somewhat privileged position. I hope you don't feel indebted to answering my questions and that you or someone would let me know if I've outstayed my welcome as a contributor to the updates. If you want me to stop I'll do it, no problem. Otherwise, I have some new points I'd like to raise for the next videochat. If you'll indulge me...

1. Given that the last few years have seen a resurgence in the appreciation of point n' click/graphic adventure games, what do you think of the possibility of giving old and somewhat defunct game genres a new lease of life? How do you think something like an updated full motion video game or even text adventure with higher definition visuals and gameplay would work? Would this even be worthwhile or desirable?

2. In the Game Dungeon episode reviewing Revenant, you talked about your frustration with one minor character named Sabu that the writers milked for corny villain rhetoric. Have there been any other characters in games you found equally or even more annoying? They needn't be the bad guys or even minor characters.

3. Assuming you have at least some passing familiarity with the fantasy genre, if you could be a member of any non-human race (elves, orcs, owlbears, etc) what would you most like to be?

4. Could you share some thoughts on the following quote?: "I secretly think reality exists so we can speculate about it." - Slavoj Žižek

Have you heard of a band called 'the Residents?' I ask because I recall you mentioning a game called Bad Day on the Midway in your CarnEvil review, and I recently discovered that that game was scored and designed by them, along with several others.

 
My question: The new PT/Silent Hills project was cancelled due to Konami's idiocy, and that Alison Road game was announced by the devs as dead in the water, is this spate of redacted 1st person horror games just a tragic coincidence or are they victims of an elaborate conspiracy? Also have you seen the new Resident Evil 7 demo which is jumping on the spooky 1st person band wagon?

#1: Do you even want to play Half-Life 3 anymore? The possibility of it ever existing as a retail product seems remote at best, but it could happen. Yet after all the exhausted hopes, Freeman's Mind, years of time passing by, etc., do you still harbor much interest or excitement at the prospect? If it were to release next month, would you want to play it just for the sake of its entertainment value outside of anything else, or are you too burned out on Half-Life as a series to care anymore outside of fan demand?
