The thing is, it's always good to have a new member to the brony community.

There's nothing wrong with being a brony, Just watch it, and if you do enjoy it, Welcome to the herd.

The show itself is very enjoyable, so if you'd be worried about becoming a brony by watching, why would you want to watch it? It's basically like saying it's a bad show.

Here, first 4 episodes, watch them, and if you don't like them, so be it.

As for fan fiction, I do enjoy some of it, just depends what it's about.

That picture is relatively accurate to some things I recall from the show. Specifically the cartoonish treatment of rather serious physical infractions. Such as: setting your hair on fire (see above), being caught and pulled into an industrial blender (Eps. 18 The Showstoppers), attaching an apple to a spring at the bottom of a bobbing-for-apples tub (Eps. 25 Party of One), and so on.

I know it's riffing off the cartoon violence so typical of the genre of children-directed animation (thank you, Chuck Jones and Tex Avery) but not in a minor or major way, and that medium irks me greatly when I see it.

I watched it and honestly didn't think it was very good. Wasn't funny or charming and Applejack annoys the FUCK out of me.

Maybe I just hate fun.

I think you just have to have that certain attitude for it. Really, I have no idea why I love this show so much or why it makes me laugh. When it first started getting popular I was just like, "Meh..." and didn't really look into it all that much. I kept seeing pony avatars and pictures and I remember just thinking, "Why the hell is this so popular?" I started seeing pics of the show where they looked crazy or derpy and I thought it looked cute, but still didn't really care enough to look into it. Since then I was always pony-curious about it until I watched it. I just think it's adorable but charming and funny at the same time. I see you guys saying, "You can watch it, not very good, but go ahead." and I'm thinking, if this were any other show, that'd be me. Really, it hits me like The Power Puff Girls did only in a much different way. I enjoyed TPPG but I treated it like any other cartoon I watched, like Dexter's Laboratory (god that show was awesome) then I think of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and I remember loving that show too. But this, I just don't get it. I don't just love the show, I obsess over it, and I don't know why. It's just kind spirited but never overtly so, cute but never sickeningly, it just presses all the right buttons with me. If you don't like it, more power to you, but as for me, I have the rest of a season to catch up on.
