If you ask me, the worst part with this game is not the jumpscare factor, but the deep, underlying dread of knowing he's somewhere in the map, looking for you, and that when you turn that corner or look over there, he'll be there, and you can't do anything to stop it.

 
Wasn't as scary as I thought in my playthrough. I could see Slenderman from far away and kept trying to get away from him, but he never just showed up as I turned a corner. I ended up GETTING cornered backing up to a wall just like in the video, watching him just creep up to me at the very end.

 
This game was scary until he killed me and I got a good look at his face.

horror rule #1: Giving you a clear look at what is after you makes it not scary.

 
I can't believe there's not a thread for this... I just played Slender (around 12:00 at night) for the first time and holy crap.. I got scared.

lol it's fine, just don't turn around, and if you go into that building don't turn around to leave, just look at the floor and walk out backwards.

Guess he's just trying to make entertaining stuff. But back on topic about the game.

 
I'm a scaredy cat that get's attracted to scary games. Thus I will not sleep for many nights after playing this game.

 
My friend told me the whole shpiel about the game mechanics. Its best to figure out where every note is at FIRST, and then speed run through them and pick them up. Heres why:

When you have:

0 Notes: He isnt even in the map. You have absolutely nothing to fear.

1 Note: Still shouldn't be a problem. Every once in a while, he'll make a random appearance, but he doesn't follow you

2 Notes: Now things get a little serious. He's always there, but he doesnt track you or follow you.

3 Notes: He stays in your general vicinity and will approach you from behind if you stay still too long

4 Notes: Now he's following you. Though he may not be close or visible, he's constamtly watching you

5 Notes: Better file for a restraining order. He's stalking you now. He's always within a direct line of sight unless you're in the building or behind a car.

6 Notes: Okay, screw the restraining order. This is straight on sexual harrassment. Don't go in the house or you're fucked. He'll almost ALWAYS be around corners and he is behind you whether you like it or not.

7 Notes: I seriously think this guy just gets hornier every time you find a not because as you're walking through the map, you can actually feel his dick moving around inside you. He is right behind you, right on top of you, and you are absolutely fucked if you turn around.

Meh, I played this game and didn't find it scary. I had the same reaction with Amnesia, except I felt motivated to see Amnesia through the end because the story and puzzles were interesting enough.

Same here. Slender was very underwhelming because it doesn't have anything in terms of story.
