Here's footage from the latest Planetside 2 play session. This one was a little different as we ended up mixing up the gameplay some. I honestly would have cancelled this one if it hadn't been planned in advance as I'm still working non-stop on the next Game Dungeon videos. I'll definitely have at least one more Planetside 2 session in the future, but I admit the overall gameplay is starting to feel more anti-climactic, so I think we may have to come up with more ideas to make it more interesting, although if the turnout is similar to this session, we could just look into an alternate game also. Anyway, new Game Dungeon coming out soon!

if you look for alternate games, what requirements would you like it to have? I can remember accessibility (i.e price) & playercount being few of the factors, as well as it should be able to run on old PC.

Hope you dont mind few suggestions:

Red alert: A path beyond (standalone modification of c&c renegade, based on c&c: red alert. Basically FPS/3rd person shooter with lot of strategy involved. Free to download & play and since renegade is over a decade old by now, most pc-s should run it. One thing- im not sure how many players you can fit in there)

Tiberian sun Reborn (as APB, its standalone mod of c&c renegade (and thus functions similarly), but based on c&c tiberian sun, meaning units are more sci-fi, including walkers)

GTA San andreas (via either sa-mp or MTA. now, it isnt free 2 play, but it is relatively cheap, old PC-s can run it with ease and both MTA & sa-mp offer hundreds of servers to choose from, with many supporting well over 100 people, with different styles)

 
@Meelis13 They have to be free to play as that's one of Ross's criteria for his play sessions which neither C&C Renegade nor GTA San Andreas are. Not to mention they're old games so if one of Ross's fans was running Windows 10 they probably wouldn't be able to play due to compatibility issues. Renegade X https://renegade-x.com/ would work as it's C&C Renegade but free and much newer. I don't know how Ross would go about handling servers though. He couldn't host his own server as hosting around 200 people who're probably tens of thousands of miles away from him would be nigh on impossible. You can pretty much eliminate any game that isn't a free to play MMO right off the bat.

 
Old and dying mmo's fit many of the criteria for what you're after in group gaming.

1) Most of them have newbie zones built around anticipated swarms of new players from long ago when the game launched.

2) They tend to be desperate for players and have free trials or a f2p model.

3) By being on the brink of oblivion, exploring a fading MMO might be the last opportunity to publicly show the art assets/lore.

Biggest disadvantage is that two hours won't even get your toes wet in almost any of them, especially if you wanted to try a new one per month. That said, sometimes a dying mmo will dump massive bonuses on everyone during the last month so any remaining players can experience all the content.

You completely misunderstood me- those are STANDALONE mods. Meaning you DO NOT have to have renegade to play them. and mods are FREE. Also, i can play them on my win 10 just fine, nor i have heard anyone having real problems.

Also, it has official hosted servers, with 60 player support. Now, they are small & in EU, but plus side for events like this is that in morning hours it seems to be more or less empty.

Anyways it was just meant as suggestion- if it doesnt suit criterias, its ok, but might as well suggest something

And why server being in EU would necessarily be a bad thing? Ross has many fans here in Europe. And AFAIK he himself is located in Europe ATM. Given these circumstances, it's strange that US always gets priority and is considered first. Server's location shouldn't be an issue if all interested parties can get an ok connection to it.

ikr. I have no idea why everyone prefers USA servers, but hey- its his choice after all

It's probably because he has more fans in the USA than in the EU. I don't see any other reasons why he would choose servers that give him bad ping.
