FREEMAN'S MIND 2: EPISODE 10

Freeman's Mind returns, again!  I never meant for there to be this long a delay between this episode and the last one.  If I had never made the "Games as a service" video, there would have been more out by now, but that felt like a necessary detour for me.  There will still be more developments on that later, but I felt like getting the larger issue made more public was a more time-sensitive thing for me.

I ran into new errors I've never seen before in Source in this episode; I'm hoping they go away after this one.  It's a reminder why I don't plan on doing anything else besides FM2 in the Source engine.  This episode I think is the second-longest one also, just by coincidence.  There's also something that happens in the episode that wasn't planned at all, but it was a great addition, so I left it in.

Ross's Game Dungeon is coming up next, then more Freeman and other videos!

So I have to ask: How much modding was required for the crowbar-as-hammer thing to work? Up until now, all the custom stuff could be (and probably was) achieved with map edits, but I'm pretty sure this required brand-new code.

wait did breen actually say anything important, i was paying attention to the dialogue so i didn't hear much
Since it's been so long since I've played HL2, I had to go back and look up the Breencast to make sure the subtitles were right.  Here's that Breencast in full:

We now have direct confirmation of a disruptor in our midst, one who has acquired an almost messianic reputation in the minds of certain citizens. His figure is synonymous with the darkest urges of instinct, ignorance and decay. Some of the worst excesses of the Black Mesa Incident have been laid directly at his feet. And yet unsophisticated minds continue to imbue him with romantic power, giving him such dangerous poetic labels as the One Free Man, the Opener of the Way.

Let me remind all citizens of the dangers of magical thinking. We have scarcely begun to climb from the dark pit of our species' evolution. Let us not slide backward into oblivion, just as we have finally begun to see the light. If you see this so-called Free Man, report him. Civic deeds do not go unrewarded. And contrariwise, complicity with his cause will not go unpunished.

Be wise. Be safe. Be aware.
Ahem, so where are the subtitles?…
When I posted the original post, I was still in the middle of making them.  They do take some time and I do have a life outside of all this.  But they are done now.  Thanks for your patience.

To be fair, Ross's Freeman is reacting to the corpse in the same chair that was in Barney's CP office. He might've been semi-traumatized from that and just wanted to get out as quickly as possible.  Remember that Ross is playing Freeman as if he were a living person, not a video game character.

Well, he was the opposite of "observant" during his entire "I should be more observant" rant, so it just kinda frustrated me. I understand it, but it still doesn't stop the frustration.

continued to be quite impressed by the amount of effort you're putting into this, ross! makes all other video game content creators seem so damn lazy in comparison. kudos

lol i'm sorry for the off topic post, but what happened to your avatar?

did someone break into your account? i'm confused

uhh well i sent a pm and made a report for the mods... should I... change my password?

i'm just worried about a potential account breach, this screams security breach, i don't know what's going on, sorry

something tells me this is very out of character though, it does seem malicious

I'm sure BTG will report to us if it wasn't done by him. Let us know if something is off and change your pw immediately if it is. :)

Yeah, it definitely wasn't me. Timestamp that was on the change showed it occurring shortly after Annie replied to me in the General American Politics thread.

Pretty sure the admins can check who accessed your account from where, can't they? ?

I don't see how this is relevant to the thread now that it's y'know... over with that part.
