Deus Ex: Invisible War in Windows 7

Anyone know how to get Deus Ex: Invisible War running in Windows 7? I get to the loading screen of the first level and then the game just crashes. I've seen a lot of fixes on the net but none of them seem to work so far.

Hmm, I wouldn't have a clue due to being an XP user, but...let me think...have you tried running it in Compatibility mode for like Windows 2000/98 whatever they have on 7?

Of course, that's one of the first things I tried. Windows 2000/XP/Vista mode doesn't do any changes and Windows 98 mode makes it not start at all.

Huh...well that's odd. I did a google search to see about this, what Patch of the game do you have?

I have the 1.2 patch, and I am Googling as well.

Okay, I figured out that simply running the original unpatched 1.0 version of the game seems to work fine.

Well, it works now, but sure, HD graphics are awesome.

Yep, installed it with the 1.0 version and the game looks nicer.

It really improves the game... It's like the difference between HL1 and HL:S + HD pack...
