The Lone Ranger - 8.6. Actually wasn't that bad.

EDIT: Just saw X-Men: Days of Future Past, so I'll rate that too.

Fucking fucking fuck fuck fuck 9.5/10. This just might be my movie of the year. I'll wait and see if Dawn of the Planet of the Apes or Guardians of the Galaxy beats it out, but just DAMN.

RoboCop - 7/10

A bit slow in areas, but very well thought out... I recommend seeing it at least once.

Django Unchained. 9/10

I have to say I was a bit surprised by this movie. I am in no way a fan of westerns since they all just feel slow and kinda cliche and unoriginal to me but this movie actually had me interested the whole way through. Got a bit too violent at times though, which coming from me is saying something, that shootout near the end being one of them. so much blood...

The original, I take it?

Saw X-Men: Days of Future Past on Monday. I'd give it about an 8.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - 9.0. Great film. I knew it was gonna be good and it delivered.

Guardians of the Galaxy - 9.5. FUCKING GENIUS.

Agree with Pinky on the two above.

The Raid: Probably one of the best action films ever made.

Aliens: Still my second-favourite film.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan: Still my first-favourite film.

Also, it's a TV show rather than a film, but I'd definitely recommend checking out The Day Today.

Guardians of The Galaxy

9, I'm hooked on a feeling. Seemed like it tried too hard to be funny sometimes and there was a lot of worldbuilding they had to blitz past to cram in the characters and plot but still a great fun movie. Totally did not recognize Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) as Nebula.

same movie and same rating. I let a lot of that slide though since the first movie in a marvel series (and you know there's gonna be more than one of these) is often rushed to establish the characters and settings and the later ones are often better paced. For example, Captain America. In honesty I really didn't care much for the first one especially how rushed the taking of Germany was, but I loved the second.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

9.75/10

I don't know why, but I've always though C.A. was a bit of an idiot in the comics, but awesome in the movies.

Godzilla - 7.6. I'm rating this higher than I feel like it deserves, but I was actually pretty excited for this movie. The trailers looked awesome and when the reviews came in, I was sold. Finally, a GOOD Godzilla movie. And while, yes, it is 'good' if you're comparing it to the trainwreck known as Godzilla 2000, it's actually kind of disappointing.

Like, I get why they needed to focus on the human characters to build up the monsters but...c'mon, they couldn't have found better actors? The ONE really good actor they had, Brian Cranston, gets fucking killed at around the 30-40 minute mark. And after that we're left with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, who do not impress in this film. Ken Watanabe would be cool if he actually did anything and maybe it's just my TV, but I couldn't see shit in any of the dark scenes of the movie. I understand that they want to conceal the monsters, but for fuck's sake, I CAN'T SEE THE ACTORS EITHER.

However, it is well-directed, well-paced, (for the most part) the story is pretty tight even if a little 'eh', and the 20 minutes we got to see Godzilla kick ass were kind of cool, I guess. I just wish the main actors other than Cranston...acted better.

Some advice for Godzilla 2: Either put more of the monsters in the movie or get better fucking actors and/or get better takes FROM those actors.

Idiocracy - 7/10

Stranded - 2.3/10

I recommend watching Idiocracy once, and ignoring Stranded at least every time you consider it.

Stranded = poorly written attempt at a gross-out thriller b-movie. It's only redeeming quality was that 3 out of 4 of it's main actors were actually good actors in horrible roles. (Christian Slater, Michael Therriault, and Amy Matysio)

2 movies in 1 sitting.

The Mist 4/10

This had the potential to be a really good movie but the main actor was poor at portraying sadness (very poor) and the ending was all kinds of disappointing. Normally I could forgive an ending if the movie itself was decent but this managed to drop an otherwise 7/10 rating all the way down to 4 because I was that annoyed by it.

I really want to say it's a fun watch if you ignore the ending but all in all I'd say don't go out of your way to see it.

Monsters 8.5/10

This didn't get the highest of reviews because people were annoyed that it focused too much on the people and not on the actual monsters but I felt that was the strength of this movie. basically a field journalist who's highly detached from the world trying to escort his bosses daughter out of the monster zone (or infection zone) of Mexico back to the US and the obstacles they have to overcome to get there.

I'd recommend watching this one. Think of Cloverfield with more lovable characters and no vertigo.

The Prestige - 9.2/10

I recommend seeing it at least once. Bear in mind though that they do use flashbackception. (flashback inside a flashback)
