I'm trying to find a game recorder of some sort that's open source (licenced GNU Free) and is less cpu intense and less ram intense than fraps.

Edit: it's so I can make a mind series with half-life:source.

I just... I don't even...

Just because you said you were doing another freeman's mind, I'm not going to help you.

We sieriously have too many of terrible rip offs.

CamStudio is the most popular free OpenSource screen recorder I know of.

And I would strongly suggest you try and do something original rather than do something that has already been done because I think that would make you very unpopular among the more zealous fans here, like the one above me.

i use fraps for mine, btw i think it was cpt cool who said it, but "doing mind series is a great way to get your foot in the door", and i want to become a professional voice actor one day, while staying productive. but im not trying to be famous on youtube or out beat Ross (not happening even if i wanted it to). but whatever your reason for blatantly trying to stifle one's creativity is completely of your own fanboyism, and im going to respect your eccentricity Luigi .

as for you alyxx, i might just switch over to your recommendation, cause i just realized that during the most acton packed sequences, fraps drops frames like 200 year old wine.

I think it's at least worth a shot to see if it's more CPU-friendly for you.

Personally, I don't think it's a bad thing that people do mind series. People should do whatever they want for my sake. I mean, if I made a web series and people wanted to make something like it, I'd be flattered.

yea it'd be a completely different matter if i tried and emulate Ross' gordon, or made the same jokes as him, but then again theres just sometimes no way around it, like the box smashing room, how can i avoid pointing that out, im just gonna do it different than him, once i get to that point.

I have to agree with Luigi even if he was a little harsh about it, there are way too many different Freeman's Mind, Gordon's Mind and all of that stuff on YouTube. I recommend 'minding' (lol) a different game. There are plenty of different FPS games out there that no one has done a mind series on yet.

Well, I know no one's forcing me because I don't watch them, it just seems like they don't have any creativity so they have to basically just do Freeman's Mind all over again themselves. Your shows a little different because you take the time to make your own jokes and they're not that bad or anything, but it just gets a little tiring seeing so many different Freeman's Minds.
