The video game industry has been playing some very stupid games over the past decade, and now the US government is starting to think up a good prize for them.

Back in the early days of WOW, the gold had a 1 to 1 exchange rate with korean won. Gold farming was a minimum wage job, and if you played your cards right it could pay rent and textbooks. Really pissed me off thinking about it on those long nights at watch in the cold at yokouska. 

 

to be honest i am surprised that it took the government this long to notice. Granted, my understanding is that the law is 15 years behind technology, so the senile old boomers in Washington are now making laws for 2010 America.  

 

Good news for us that are tired of them killing games, extra good news for us if you hate microtransactions. Bad news for the AAA industry as i have a hunch that this is going to be a brick sized suppository for them.

@Mira are you really sure you want to be baiting bad arguments out of people? I don't think it's going to be fun or helpful for anyone, and if you're not careful the mods may come down on you for it. If someone doesn't respond to reason in a polite environment I don't think they're going to respond to it any better in an antagonistic one. I understand if it's just a dunk, I like dunks on conservative dipshittery, but I don't know if actively targeting someone is going to get you anything other than a ban, and I don't want what dwindling members this forum has left to be occupied by the aforementioned dipshittery.

What exactly is getting "gutted"? Are there any other organizations that are either already covering that area, or that are taking over those "gutted" functions? Are the "gutted" things even actually necessary in the first place, or are they just a way for someone to extract money from the government for doing nothing of substance?

 

All of those questions will need to be answered before I can say if I agree with the changes.

 

Is any of the "gutting" actually affecting the subject of this thread?
